10,000 subscribers - way to go!! When someone really enjoys what they do, it shows. People see it and gravitate to it. I am sure the word will continue to spread. Look forward to seeing what comes next!
Congrats James! Your are far and away my favorite SCUBA channel by far. I really enjoy your no nonsense and honest approach. Look forward to many more videos with great information. Wish I could join you in Bonaire but will be in Fiji diving the spectacular Bligh Reef! I love dive travel (just flew home from Barbados yesterday) and hope to join you on a future warm weather tropical trip in 2021!
I stopped carrying the Trilobite after I had two rust on me. I now carry a pair of similar Z knives but with ceramic blades along with a general purpose pair of EMT sheers.
Great information as always James. We bought our fins on your recommendation when we did our scuba OW cert with you in St.Martin, and I still love them! Thanks.
Thank You James for the information you share. I LOVE THE OCEAN and snorkel whenever I can. But now i need more. I've been binge watching your videos to prepare for my Scuba Certification in March. I'm super excited and your channel has answered alot of questions, concerns and curiosity to prepare me for the open ocean.
I love that little cutter tool. It’s definitely good to carry, however I also love a big dive knife (Aqua Lung Argonaut). It makes me feel like a Navy Seal, and if I ever need to fend off a shark, that little cutter tool won’t cut it haha. Some may think I’m silly but I know a few spear fisherman who had to use their knife against a shark who wanted to take their fresh catch
Glad to see you are doing well, i enjoy your videos, Congratulations. Funny, I use mostly the same gear as you, except your reel, which I will give a try as an upgrade over my basic spool. Thanks.
Congrats on passing that 10k .. onward to 100k! Been following you since the start - can't believe it's been 9 months!? Absolutely love the scubapro synergy frameless mask and atomics venom frameless for us heavily bearded guys. Also after seeing your aqualung storm review on Scuba Diver Magazine (yes I follow you there as well haha) I started researching travel fins and bought a set of scubapro go sport fins.
Again a nice video. Gongratz on 10K! To bad i am from the Netherlands so i cant win the EEZY-CUT wich is great btw. I have one myself but could use a second on for my starting career of tech/cave diving Keep them vids coming !!
Awesome video's as a new diver so many helpful advice and cool gear. should come up to Ontario Canada and do some great lake diving here and maybe do a show here!!! cheers my friend. thanks for doing this enjoy every time.
Great video. I’m loving the content. Keep it coming! I’m one of the millions who also wear the Mares Avanti Quattro fins. I too have been wearing mine since passing my OW in 2004. Bright yellow so no one loses me!! And i still have the original straps. One day I’ll switch to the bungee straps. Mask - I love the fit and feel of the Mares X-Frame Liquidskin which I’ve had for 6 or maybe 7 years. Good luck with the move. Please can you share a day in your life video. All the best.
As cutting device I use a rescue knife. (like you have as firefighter) You can use the blade that is made for the seat belt for fishinglines and I guess as you said neopren suits and the blade for larger ropes like fishing nets or something like that (and you could use it as a little lever I guess 🤔)
Oh and you can use it in your car :D (it may help in it's original purpose if you arrive at a crash or something like that (I hope you don't have to experience that
Congrats to 10k! and great video as always. Good adwise with the accessories specificly the knife adwise, me as I am "only" diving since 2013, I always shook my head when I see people arm themselve with sword like knifes on a recriational dive. I always ask myself if they are going to fight the Kraken? On the otherhand I use to take an accessory which most people don't understand as well, I carry a spare mask in a pocket. I once dived in Palau at blue corner watching the sharks, and the current was so strong that my mask flew of my face, luckily one other diver grabbed it but without a mask in 15m depth, its quite scary, so eversince I cary a spare mask (and a reef hook ;-) ).
Nice run down through the accessories. The only observation to make... the eezy-cut giveaway is only open to legal residents of the USA and Canada who are 18 years old or older. That's not mentioned anywhere until one gets to the Terms & Conditions.
got my mask using the guide, Beuchat maxlux S, the only on in the dive store that has the best seal and fit for me, what more it didn't break my wallet :)
I have the atomic frameless mask and it fits very well BUT it fogs up so much... Have you had any issues fogging? Do you have any tips or tricks? Thanks!
I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews for z-knives because of blades rusting out, being hard to find replacement blades for some models, etc. Whats your thoughts on the DGX Titanium Tek line cutter. My thought is it’s more useful with a small serrated section, and less prone to corrosion, yet still fairly safe to use.
James (and anyone else with an opinion), If you were buying your first computer (and planning to go to Tech level eventually) would you buy the perdix to start or go with a Petrel and upgrade later?
Julie, hi, thanks for watching. To enter the contest you need to follow the link at the bottom of the description of this video, which is just below the video itself. You may need to expand the description depending on what device you’re using. Good luck!
The Mares Quatro fins are good for somebody with a linebacker physic. The same reasoning apply for the Aqualung Xshot. For the midweight diver they are to long and to stiff. Also, the all rubber old school fins like the Aqualung rocket will mess your trim if you dive with a shorty do to their negative buoyancy (small weight at the end of a long lever). For skills circuits in a pool the best result that I had was with the go sport fins from scuba pro because they are more compact and allow slow swimming for the CESA demonstration. For the midweight diver looking for the first all around fins those might be a better choice: us.aqualung.com/collections/diving-fins/products/express-ss scubapro.johnsonoutdoors.com/fins/fins/jet-sport-fin www.mares.com/shop/en-IC/diving/fins/avanti-superchannel-oh-12.html?attribute_id=92&option_id=311 www.mares.com/shop/en-IC/diving/fins/excite-8.html?attribute_id=92&option_id=311 As for the diving knife it's good to remember the new diver to NOT put it in the carry on luggage because it will be confiscated at the custom (I've lost one like this in Honduras). Yes the Rambo knife is awkward and pointless, that's why you can find tones of them on Craigslist for 15$. All those Bill Nye experimentes remind me of a Quote from Enrico Fermi: There are two possible outcomes: if the result confirms the hypothesis, then you've made a measurement. If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery.
I don't laugh when I see guys with rose color fins so please - do not laugh when you see me with my knife. I like it, I know how to use it ( for sure I'm not gonna James Bond fight with that :)) and ... actually watch your own bussines :) Feeling safe with your tiny shave device? Ok. I'm not. Dive safe :)
Love the glamour shots of scratched up gear. Not being funny I love to see any quality tool with evidence of use. Nothing worse than gear that sits in a drawer and stays like new unless you're a collector.

Can believe you were speechless, also can’t believe your heart is in that shape after years in the US.
I have the same fins given to me by an instructor, this was about 10 years ago. Amazing fins!

Stoked on this channel! Keep up the good work! 👌👌
I absolutely LOVE my Atomics frameless mask
Excellent video James (and I love the new intro). [Please note there is a small typo on SW Petrel title].

That intro was the cheesiest in the best possible way!
Im early 😄 I bet it’s a nice video. Save diving mate

So duct tape was the answer!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Cheers.
I believe 3 or 4 buttons are more fail-proof than 2 (or especially 1) button for the money invested in it
Great advice
Hello James. Dont forget, that some divers from russian speaking countries are repeat your videos be cause you speaks so quick))) Luck you!!!
I have the atomic frameless mask and it fits very well BUT it fogs up so much...

Unrelated: have you dove Bonaire? Planning my first trip now. Looking for a suggestion on where to stay and which dive/fill package to buy. Thx 🐠
Yes we have and we're doing it again! Come join us! www.diversready.com/uploads/1/1/2/7/112785523/bonaire_2020_travel_brochure.pdf
Any advice on being comfortable on deeper dives. At 50 ft and deeper I get a horrible uneasy feeling and I don’t know how to get rid of it
Hey James, I’m currently getting certified for open water and am looking to purchase a bcd. What do you recommend as a lower-medium end bcd?
good info
Not sure if this is where we try to win. Cutting device. Thank you.

They are a little long, but they certainly aren't stiff they are middle of the road when it comes to stiffness.
I am 101Kg and I love my 20 y/o pair.
Maybe to light to swim in surface facing down, that make less effective kick, but u/w are great
I’m here to win something!
helo from indonesia ...where in indonesia if i may know that u did your dive master ??
What if I told you that you would be over 20k soon.
