Long time Recaller here, so just wanted to encourage others to take Susan up on her offer. It is life changing for your dog and for you-- a great way to start the year!

I want to badly, but being on disability i can't afford it in one shot. I know she gives more value than we pay for, cuz if Recallers is even close to the value and bonuses she gives in HSTD, its worth twice the cost, but i need several months to save up the fee. But I will DEFINITELY join Recallers when she opens it next time. 💜

Thank you, Susan. Fantastic episode! "Do you love this dog?" I love your emphasis on the individual dog first, before everything else. Super.

What’s been holding me back is knowing I’m going to stuff things up; the timing, breaking down the behaviour into small enough steps, etc. But the only way I’m going to get better at that is to PRACTICE, so I just did a 5 minute session with each of my dogs 😊.
Now I need to go and dig up my Recallers pack from years ago and set up a systematic education package for the 3 of us. 🎓

I had the fear of succeeding with my old dog. He was a pinscher, a traditionally "independent" breed, but he was a fantastic worker who would do anything for anyone. He had so much focus and drive. He could do tracking, agility, rally, retrieves, search, obedience... I used him as a model in my dog training classes and a "teacher dog" for my animal studies students, but I never competed with him. I kept putting it off and I lost him to a stroke this january. I came across this channel while researching for my new puppy and this video just clarified for me how I was the limiting factor in our partnership. That dog was an actual star and could have done anything. I've already resolved that I need to get out and do all the things with my next dog. There may not be a tomorrow

Awesome as always Susan! Before I started recallers had you asked me if I liked my younger dog Mae I would have said no. But I was not willing to give up on her and started your recallers program. It completely turned around our relationship and honestly I can’t imagine my life without her now. She is way calmer, doesn’t react to other dogs and has become a great companion. So thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you. 💗🐾

Oh, so right! Recallers is absolutely the best program ever. I've done obedience classes, seminars, training school and many trainers coming to my home to help with different issues with different dogs. Really, they aren't different issues but all related. It's about connecting with the dog. I am the one who has failed in having my friends with dogs join up but, like I had to, I guess they have to go the long route.

Susan, so many times when I listen to you it feels as though you see me and are directing your comments to me. I’m a Recallers alumni , sometimes I just need a push from you. In answer to your 5 questions... 1 - I do love my dog. 2 - I’m 62 with a high energy rescue dog, and am still struggling to achieve my goal of being able to walk out my front door without stress. 3 a - success is me being able to walk out in public without fear of him being reactive. I’m sure I’m over sensitive to this now. 3 b - Today walking in public is not something I enjoy. What is it I believe my dog wants? I think he would like to have more adventurous walks and off lead, at the moment we walk in a secure field, and I fear this may not always be available to us. 4 what is the time slot I am going to put into every day? We train on and off every day, with two walks in the field with training as well. 5 what is my plan? I will work harder on my journal, continue to build our relationship and take comfort in the small steps we are making.

I’m a Recallers alumni, so don’t need the surprise at the end, but I needed this podcast, having got into a rut, frustrated with my failure to progress. Yes I love my dog but I’m letting her down with my inaction. I’ve lost belief if myself, and this translates to my dog training. I’ve even read Atomic Habits, in one ear and out the other, the too hard basket. Ok I need to do more video, journal, review.... basically I know that but I’m the queen of procrastination. Plan A. Train after dog walk, re her breakfast, again Pre her Dinner. Train a hungry dog. Just games, at present we are working on Bring ME. And I’ve shared this episode with my friends. Thank you Susan, best ever Life Coach . ❤️

Wow, very powerful message today! I always had a clear vision of where i want to be in our relationship/lifestyle/obedience with my dog. But i never stopped to think too much of the rest of the questions you posed. So of course a vision without clear action and rational equals frustration. Thanks so so much

I already started a small journal thanks to you, with small comments and priorities for training. But i didnt make any daily notes. Sounds manageble and am happy to integrate that as well. My dog deserve a bit of planning and progress on our relationship and his welbeing in a big city life (which is of course challenging). And if all goes well maybe i will be able to commit financially to recallers in a year or so ;)

I have been binge listening to your podcasts since two or three weeks. I stumbled across your podcast on Spotify. I LOVE it... All your advice its applicable to so many parts of my life. I have a one year old Belgian Malinois (and a 14 and 11 year old). He is our fifth malinois and we did everything (at least we thought) to make him that dog that we can take anywhere with anyone..but no. Instead I got gifted our little Usko (his name I later found out means believe/have faith in Finnish -its a sign 😅)..he is reactive to dogs and a little to humans (just scared of everything). I am doing lots of work with in person trainers and puppy schools but haven't seemed to find that one thing that makes sense....until now. I see that I can make progress on these problems without necessarily always exposing him.. i can also make steps by building on our relationship. I have just signed up for homeschool and Ill try to see of the recallers option is still valid (4 years later😊)... Thank you thank you for giving me hope and most importantly to teach me to look differently at the various problems in life. Evelyn (from Ireland)...

Great podcast! I am raising a Recallers puppy who has no rehearsed behaviours I do not like (well almost :) ), he is so easy to train that I am having a hard time with my older dog who is asking me a lot of questions and sometime I am not giving him the right answer, but I am working on it and now I know that it will take time but we will get there, thanks to the 40 Recallers games. Happy 2021!

Great podcast! I loved the part where you mentioned, "You've got to be patient...Continuing daily action... Small steps."
We picked up our first puppy (Delta) up on June 13th and what a crazy 7 months it has been. In the context of training in a distraction-free environment, Delta is engaged, loves to learn new things, and wildly successful despite our inexperience and imperfect mechanics. However, the lack of automatic transfer of training success indoors to outdoors has been very difficult to overcome (and we are still working through it). Every stick, rock, leaf, person, smell, sound, etc. is really exciting for her… so exciting that she used to not look at us at all outside (to the point it felt like she was intentionally looking in the opposite direction we wanted her to look and spit out treats if she “accidentally” ate them while distracted by something).
All this to say - It is difficult to see training progress when looking day-over-day, but when comparing today to a few months ago, it is easy to see the compounding positive effect a commitment to daily action and small steps has over time.

We LOVE our puppy and feel like the relationship we’ve been able to build with her has a strong foundation because of ‘Recallers’ and is getting stronger every day!
    THANK YOU!

So excited to have just recently stumbled into your world Susan! Getting a puppy next week! Second dog (first passed 2 years ago) but first trained dog lol! I’ve been devouring information for months in preparation wanting to be prepared as possible while knowing we will have road blocks and hurdles along the way. I’ve been watching all your videos and shaping success should arrive today and is my weekend reading assignment. Goals are great companion first and lure/agility for fun. I’m getting crate games and will enroll in home school. Will also be working local puppy socialization classes. To all you experienced people - should I add recallers now?? Or wait until she’s a bit older and we have worked crate/itsyourchoice/restraint recall and collar grab? Can you tell I’m beyond excited? 😂😂😂

Welcome Erica, it's great you have found us! Congrats on the puppy... best recommendation is get the puppy home and settled for a week or two and get to know each other... as you know Susan has some great podcasts on early puppy raising here. Once you have settled together - use the Hey Susan! to our team and we will be waiting for you ;) Recallers first four games are 'critical core' and exactly what you will be ready to work for! I love both my dogs and am struggling with our relationships. Your podcast clarified how a lot of what is going on between my 2 dogs and me, has to do with me. And the fact that I have uninintentionally shortchanged my older dog - creating friction. I love them both, but clearly have not been fair to my older dog- - and feel very sad. I am behind in HSTD because of family issues (not dog related) as well as the issues between the boys. If Recallers can help that would be wonderful.

I haven't had any success despite HomeSchool, Wag Nation and Recallers. I have no idea what my story is that is preventing progress as I love my dog and train daily. I don't have recall nor focus and since Recallers and trying to train Tug he 's gone off toys completely.

Totally random, but did anyone else see the dog hair at 8:45 ? It floated by on the right side... I thought it was from my dog and it bothered me so much that I couldn't find this flying dog hair to get it off my screen lol. Then I realized when I rewound so that I could actually focus on what Susan said, it happened again haha.
