    I've never left any comment to any videos on youtube, but your tutorials are very easy to understand because of kind explanation leading viewers step by step. I've been struggling to learn v-ray and advanced sketchup skills by myself to be a lighting designer. I really appreciate for your effort to make these clips! they are really helpful for me and others I guess!

    Hey great video!! How do you change the colour of the textured brick wall? I am trying to do the same with a wood wall I am using from v Ray, but when I change the colour (in the sketchup editor) the colour change only shows up in sketchup, not if vray.
    Would really appreciate if you could help me out

    I wanted to ask how you could alter the colour of a Vray material, I'm using wood and I want to make my material darker but nothing is changing it I tried changing it in the sketchup setting but it only changes it in the model, not in the rendering and I tried with all the settings, changing the refraction and the diffuse but nothing is working.

    Hi Justin, i noticed that when you edit the size of a material, it edits it overall whether you click on a particular face or not. How does one then go about using the same material but of different sizes.

    One thing that I would really love is a tutorial on "glass " I have spent days trying to get a glass table top that looks good, but no luck so far.

    For some reason I can’t get realistic glass.

      Yes I used V Ray glass mapping.
      I also tried the SketchUp material, but not a nice render either.
      When I use either SUPodium, or Shaderlight, two software that I use since a few years, my glass is always perfect....???
      I hope to see a video from you on that material.

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will do a tutorial on glass at some point, but the fact that you're having this issue even with the Vray material presets at this point is confusing to me. Can you try to create a very simple render with a very simple model and see if the glass works then without changing any default settings?

    • @georgespapillon364

I get how to use the Vray materials to enhance the Sketchup ones and that's fine. But what If I don't want to replace the material but still need something to give it a better rendering ?

    I love your explanations! And how you love SketchUp and Vray. I am intensely studying these two programs, because they will be my companions in my professional life. I want to provide electronic modeling services in 2020. That's why I'm dedicating almost 24 hours to the studies of these two programs. I thought about migrating to 3Ds Max, but my teacher asked me to dedicate myself first to these two. And only then try others. I think I'm going to take his advice and he's right. And actually I love SketchUp and how does Vray have it for him, so it's perfect. I know the power that Sketchup has and I know it does things that any other 3D software does. Mainly in the area of architecture, "mockups". So I have some doubts and how vc you are in Sketchup and Vray, can you advise me on two issues? I would be very grateful. It is always good to be able to count on the support and help of those who know a lot. The first would be with regard to Srayup's Vray materials to its library of standard materials. I believe these materials are very well configured the only issue I think is that in some of them the resolution of the textures are low. But, apart from the texture part, the settings are good. if the textures were at least 3K, 4K would be the perfect materials to use in the projects. What do you tell me about it? Is this what I'm talking about? I was thinking here with my thoughts the following: If we apply a material of these that comes as standard and just replace the texture with another almost identical more with a higher resolution would solve? With that, we would take advantage of the settings. Is this my inquiry correct? The other question is: I have a degree in graphic design, but I do not like to work in producing agency, although I love this profession. What I really want to do is to make electronic mockups so I'm studying almost 24 hours this year of 2019, so that by 2020 I can get a head start on this new universe. And working as a service person at home or in my office let's say so. Can I believe in this "Sketchup and Vray" class for my future as a modeling service? What do you think? I need help with that! I love mockups and I'm loving SketchUp and Vray. I think of a future ahead of me to learn 3Ds Max, Lumion, etc. My focus today is Sketchup and Vray, because it consumes a lot of time and our mind. Thank you for everything and I wish you all a good friend!

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very in-depth comment - Generally yes, you could just replace the textures with more high resolution if you'd like. As to starting a business doing visualization, I know many people have done this, so it's definitely possible!

  • @phemans
    @phemans 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry for the long comment but you seem to be the guy who would know the answer.
    Can I make a high-res vray texture that is a png image with a transparent background, and apply that to a Sketchup face?
    I need a way to apply images (4000x6000) into Sketchup and render them at a high quality. Right now I am losing image quality in the final render, when I import the image directly into Sketchup. I think part of the problem is scaling, I think Sketchup limits images to 1024x1024 before automatically scaling them.
    Thanks, your videos have helped me a lot.

      Hmmm - I wonder if you couldn't do this with a Vray proxy of some sort? I think Minh did a bit better job of explaining it than me, but theoretically you could import the texture as an object and use some kind of a proxy material to replace it in your final render - th-cam.com/video/oyS3Nbu5TAU/w-d-xo.html

    Adoro suas explicações! E como você amo o Sketchup e o Vray. Estou estudando intensamente esses dois programas, pois serão meus companheiros na minha vida profissional. Quero prestar serviços de maquetes eletrônicas em 2020. Por isso estou me dedicando quase que 24h nos estudos desses dois programas. Pensei em migrar para o 3Ds Max, mais meu professor me pediu que eu me dedicasse primeiramente nesses dois. E só depois tentar outros. Creio que vou seguir seu conselho e realmente ele tem razão. E na verdade eu adoro o Sketchup e como tem Vray pra ele, então, tá perfeito. Sei do poder que o Sketchup tem e sei que ele faz coisas que qualquer outro software 3D faz. Principalmente na área de arquitetura, "maquetes". Então tenho algumas dúvidas e como vc é fera no Sketchup e Vray, pode me aconselhar em duas questões? Ficaria muito grato. É sempre bom poder contar com apoio e ajuda de quem sabe muito. A primeira seria com relação aos materiais do Vray do Sketchup a sua biblioteca de materiais padrão. Eu acredito que esses materiais são muito bem configurados a única questão que acho é que em alguns deles a resolução das texturas são baixas. Mas, tirando a parte da textura, as configurações são boas. se as texturas fossem ao menos 3K, 4K seria os materiais perfeitos para se usar nos projetos. O que você me diz sobre isso? Procede isso que estou falando? Estava pensando aqui com meus pensamentos o seguinte: Se aplicarmos um material desses que vem como padrão e apenas substituir a textura por outra quase idêntica mais com uma resolução maior resolveria? Com isso, aproveitaríamos as configurações. Está correto essa minha indagação? A outra dúvida é a seguinte: Sou formado em design gráfico, mas não gosto de trabalhar em agência produzindo, apesar que amo essa profissão. Mais o que quero mesmo é fazer maquetes eletrônicas por isso estou estudando quase que 24h este ano de 2019, para que em 2020 eu possa entrar de cabeça nesse novo universo. E trabalhar prestando serviço em casa mesmo ou em meu escritório digamos assim. Posso acreditar nessa turma "Sketchup e Vray" para meu futuro como prestar serviços de maquetes? O que você acha? Preciso de ajuda com relação a isso! Eu adoro maquetes e estou adorando o Sketchup e Vray. Penso num futuro mais na frente aprender também 3Ds Max, Lumion, etc. Mais meu foco hoje é Sketchup e Vray, pois consome bastante tempo e nossa mente. Agradeço por tudo e te desejo tudo de bom amigo!

    Alas, in my case adding 'add to scene'/dragging VR material from a Library to Material list does not add any material to SU Material - in Model list. Shall I miss something?
    Vray for SU 3.6.02 - SU 2018 Pro.
    Thank you in advance.

      Hmmm...if you select a face, can you right click on the Vray material and apply it using "Apply material to selection?"

      Yes I can. SU behaves strangely on my work machine. I have already done a repair-as-admin installation. I will double check its reactions and eventually let you know about a culprit.
      BTW I am glad you have started a new Render Channel - very interested in Vray training 'à la tienne'.
      Regards

      Second question - does it show up in the "In Model" list after you add the material to your selected face with the method above?

      The Rendering Essentials
      Once applied to a model the VR material does show on in Model list.
      As far as I recall. I am at my place at present and the issue occurs at the office.
      Once more, thank you Justin for your helpfulness.

      I'll do a video on this at some point, but I think websites like Vismats (vismats.com/) and Poliigon (www.poliigon.com/) have some free materials you can download. Thanks for watching!
