    That look absolutely fabulous Manuel. You are getting cabinet restoration down to a fine art, Thank you for the time and effort you have put into this series. It is very helpful to new and old wannabe techs like me 🙂

    A brilliant radio restoration series. Your tutorials brought back memories of my 1st year, day-release college lectures during my five year apprenticeship for radio and TV servicing.
    Your tutorials also added more!
    My time in apprenticeship, blue tooth had a few decades to go into the future before it was invented, and voltage regulator ICs, LEDs, c-mos, op-amp ICs etc. were fairly recent components. As you might imagine, seeing your presentations regarding blue tooth facility for example provided the practical aspect to what I have been reading - and I thank you for that my friend. Perhaps your aim is to encourage younger people to be inspired into giving this electronics hobby a go - but it also goes a considerable distance to assist elderly old-timers like me to catch up on a few of what is new - or new to those like me LOL!
    Best regards, PB.

      There’s always the hope that some new blood will join the hobby. I’m also getting on, so we need to ensure that someone will be around to carry the torch.

    Quite a motivating Video 😊 My Saba Freiburg Automatic 6-3D cabinet will need much attention and the duplex clutch as well, but all the rest works well. As I'll retire next week this should be a nice project for the winter season. Thank you for all these splendid videos 😊

    Beautiful restoration. I wonder if brake parts cleaner, basically aerosol alcohols, could clean the cloth stains a bit more. Could also be aggressive but I use it for all kinds of cleaning.

      I’ve tried that before, and it didn’t do much in someone the aged stains.

    Great series! You mention de-rusting. Is there any special technique or product you use for de-rusting?

      I found a product here years ago that works for me, but is no longer available. I believe you guys have some better stuff at your end.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I'm learning a lot from your channel. I have one question: In a video, I saw you replace the power cable on a Nordmende phono with a 3-wire cable, including a yellow-green ground wire that you connected to the chassis. Is this something you recommend?

    • @electronicsoldandnew
      @electronicsoldandnew  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s advisable as a safety measure. The that is the earth wire from the mains plug.

    Hi Manuel, I am replacing some vintage bumble bee capacitors in a vintage AM radio/record changer. I can find the correct voltage/uf combination but the ones in the unit are with 20% tolerance and the ones I can find online are 10% tolerance. Would the new ones with 10% tolerance be acceptable to use? Thanks

    Great result - I find the camera is always a little unkind when it comes to grill cloths. That said I've now twice used "Antique Gold" Jacquard Procion MX Dye to good effect after cleaning. It needs to be very dilute and can with care (and this includes "fixing") be done with the cloth still in place which avoids dealing with shrinkage - I've done it both ways. I've found that I can recover the depth and tone of colour that one can sometimes see in those parts of a grill cloth that have been protected from the ravages of time but seemingly inevitably there's still a bit of shadowing from the speaker aperture. 🙄 But if you do decide to experiment with this option then before you commit it might be best to practice on some discarded grill cloth!!! I'm looking forward to your next project.
