A few years ago, I drove through the neighborhood I grew up in. 50 years later, it looked 150 years later! I could not believe it was the same space I once called home.
It's amazing to see how much New York has changed! But honestly, some of the charm seems to have been lost with the modernization. I miss the old neighborhoods!
The side by sides are amazing but I think I prefer the older pictures. I know, I know…all the progress we’ve made blah blah. Too bad we can’t have certain areas of progress but have much of the old. Can’t have it both ways. As much as I appreciate electronics, sometimes I wish we didn’t have them.
Keep in mind while you wear your rose colored glasses, that the "Good Old Days" weren't so good for certain class of people because of their skin color, gender, sexual orientation, religion or disability.
I love how the blimp on the building (Empire) was so nonchalantly passed over and ignored @3:18 LOL That's an actual photo. There are many photos like that only they've been suppressed but, obtainable. The steeples were not erected for ornate sake. They were charging stations. There was free energy and these large buildings throughout the world (including churches and state capitol buildings etc) were actually used as charging stations. And the building with large pillars/columns.....those were conductors. We had Tesla energy centuries ago. It's free energy. But Edison was placed in and well.....the rest is 'history'. Humanity has had several global resets which have been unequivocally proven. History is NOTHING we were told or taught. It's basically a lie. NEW WORKERS, on the side by side pictures of MANHATTAN, in the older black and white picture to the left, on the left side of MANHATTAN... WHAT ARE THE GIANT STRUCTURES THAT LOOK LIKE GIANT BARGES FILLED WITH COAL??
I hate what happened to little Italy,it was still hanging on in the 70-80's now its gone except for a few Restaurant's,Places i went to for 4 decades. too of my favorite places are gone, even the one bar.And way up on 8th av.around 47st McHales.A bunch of places, the city's leaders are worthless.
I remember being a kid and going to the Essex Street Market with my mom to get the best sour pickles that were sold from the barrel!!! I much prefer the OLD NYC....more character in the buildings that were built. Today there are too many ugly steel and glass buildings that have NO character whatsoever.

Wtf is wrong with you nostalgia freaks? Of course it changed. Things change ALL THE TIME.
@@yvonneplant9434 Be respectful 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Everyone has an opinion.
Such an amazing journey through time! Love seeing how New York City has evolved while keeping its iconic charm alive.
Thank you! I really appreciate the side by side pictures so much easier to compare differences! Quality work!🇺🇸🥳
Thank you for posting this fun to see video. Its obvious a lot of work and prep went in to its creation.
Great photos of the old and the new😊

Why???
It's the largest city and metro area in the country. Wrt N. America only Mexico City is larger.
Both will constantly change. 🎉
Huh??
Nice work and narration.
I love this video! Great music choice. Much better than mine. My brother said I need to switch up my music. I get it now!
1:20 It is hard to imagine that NYC once had little dormered capes like that.
I live in the city but i was born and grew up in the bronx 1965. SO much has changed.
No meu bairro não houve grandes transformações
This video obviously took more than a little effort; which I appreciate enough to subscribe 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻
I love the soft piano music in the background! Who is the pianist?

So much beauty has been replaced by garish and gaudy glass horrors like Time Square.

👏👏👏Sad, but you are so correct!! 👏👏👏😊
Good times
I enjoyed my birthday by the Brooklyn bridge
I like through of years
The New Madison Sq. Garden replaced Penn Station, the old photo is not accurate, it is not in New York City at all but someplace else.
Gostaria que meu bairro sofresse uma transformação assim.
