During the Covid-19 social distancing I got out my machine, dusted it off, and pulled up your very helpful video. Thank you for making this. I had honestly forgotten there was a needle threader on it!
OMG, you are the best. I have the Singer HD 110c, love it. Of all the TH-cam videos I have watched, you explained and demonstrated this process the best. Thank you so much for posting this.
So very happy to find your concise and accurate threading, including threading needle instructions! I've had this great machine for years, but struggled to use it because I could never get the needle threading feature to work properly to thread a needle, and with my eyesight, I would get frustrated threading it by hand. I agree with the previous comment that the Singer instruction book was not helpful to me at all but I still try to turn to it for help. However, this time I misplaced my instruction book so decided to look for help online. I found your video with a Google search. Thank you again! I have subscribed to your channel and will check back when I need more assistance to see what other gems you might have to offer.
Thank you so much for this video and explicit directions...I was lucky enough to purchase this machine (CG550) at a thrift store for $30 but it had no manual. The Singer manual I viewed online wasn't much help and the illustrations were too small. I was able to figure everything out except for the proper threading of this machine. I purchased this machine to use in our vacation home and to use as a backup machine for my primary machine. Thank you so much, I can now sew properly on it. As one other poster commented, do not use the wrong type of bobbin...the bobbin used in this machine is a different size than bobbins for other machines.
I've just began sewing with this exact machine and i don't have the manual. you have no clue how many times I've went back and watched every second of this video lol. very helpful. thanks!
Today, I watched two of your videos! They were fantastic! My husband purchased this machine for me some time ago. What I really appreciate is that all machines are a little different. Now my bobbin 🧵 tension is great and my machine is treaded properly! Thank You!😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have a 590 which I brought to Ireland from the USA. However, I've hardly used it because my thread or needle kept breaking. I tried your method last night and voila, it worked. I had threaded it previously and it didn't stay so thanks so much as I had no problems last night. If you have any tips on the tension I'd love to see it. This machine is commercial grade for home use as you can go through many layers and sew leather on it.
THANK YOU!!! The diagrams in the manual were not helping, and your video made it so much easier! I have the Singer 5050, but the threading system is the same. *insert sigh of relief*
Definitely helpful, but good to mention not using other bobbins. Some don't work with this machine. Best to use the plastic one that came with it. Used a metal one and it messed up the sewing, but the plastic one was put in after and not a problem.
Grrr! I wish i had seen rhis video when it first came out! I have a 4832c machine that has the same plastic thread guide at the top back of machine. I bought it used and thought the part was on upside down. Lol! Wondered why it kept coming unthreaded! Have manual but wasnt helpful. Now i know! Thank you for posting this and keeping it available.
@Scerezas 1. I've had this machine for a little over a year. It's pretty good for a new machine. 2. Mine needed repair because I was threading the machine wrong and I threw the machine out of sync. If you use it correctly, it will not break (mine has not broken since I started threading it right). 3. This machine is NOT industrial strength. It is for home use...just painted to make it "look" commercial grade. The Singer repair man said this machine should last forever if you take care of it.
hola Lizeth como estas... si ya estoy cosiendo es muy buena maquina solo tenia algunos problemitas con el ajuste de tensiones y aguja despuntada... pero me encanta mi maquina...
Hi do you know if this machine carry a fuse? I used the wrong bulb, when turned on I heard a pop and now the switch not working however the machine is working still. The light automatically comes on when plugged in and not with the switch. Any info will be appreciated.
I am not sure but it seems to me that alot of people don't realize that ANY and EVERY machine ever made should be threaded with the foot up. When the foot is up, the tension discs separate and the thread gets caught nicely in between. With the discs together, the thread often will not pull down into the assembly and therefor have no tension on them. I think your demonstration is good especially the note to tug on the thread as it goes into the tension path.
I’m having a problem with my bobbin thread coming up into the top stitch. I have an older Singer machine & am having trouble finding a video that shows me how to deal with this problem. I have two colors of thread, one color for bobbin & one for top thread. That’s how I know the bobbin thread is coming up through the needle thread. Can you help? Thanks!
Hi. I'm thinking about buying this Singer sewing machine model and I am not sure if the buttonhole feature works well. So, have you tried using the buttonhole stitching feature on this machine? Thank you.
I can't seem to get my machine to raise the bobbin thread. It is a fairly new machine my mom gave it to me a year ago and hardly used. What am I doing wrong? ---Adrienne Bowling
Hi Gerald Bowling I'm Delphine I have this model sewing machine and I am having the problem of the machine not picking up the bobbin thread. I don't use it much. A 's a matter of fact the last time I used it, I'd made a garment bag for one of my daughters, for her wedding dress. It was working perfectly. However this was last year when I just recently tried to use it is when I experienced this problem. I watched several videos on timing hook, but neither were this exact machine. Thus machine has like a belt that turns the wheel; whereas the other machines had like a shafts that extended to the gears that turned the bobbin. Can you please help me Thank you H Delphine
anybody know of a vid showing how to adjust the tension for heavier threads like an upholstery duty thread ? Regular duty "dress/shirt threads dont last long on heavier materials so I have small commercial cones to use.
Hi can you please tell me why the little teeth don't seem to move the fabric thru I always have to pull on it? Shouldn't it just feed thru on it's own? thanks for any help you can give
What was Singer thinking when they designed this machine, this man is demonstrating how to thread the machine and has trouble doing it. This machine should come with a warning, “may end any desire to sew again”.
thank you for the video, very helpful, much more so than the manual. Do have suggestions for bobbin tension? We have had problems since day one...need help! Thanks.
Sam, I have to be honest. I didn't like this machine very much and got rid of it.( I had all sorts of problems with thread nesting, breaking, jamming around the bobbin that I took it to get it repaired. The repairman couldn't find anything wrong with it, and he could sew on it fine. But I couldn't. I got a Husqvarna Emerald 183 and haven't regretted it since.) Sorry i can't help.
pflash01 thanks for your sincerity! We thought we were finally stepping up. we'll give it go for a bit more, but will probably switch as well. Once again thanks.
pflash01 Hi, I'm Del. I have this exact machine. I got it from my sister, it was my moms. I'm having problems with the the bobbin thread being picked up. I looked at other video describing how to adjust the timing hook. problem these video showed like a shafts leading to the gears, however on this machine I see that it has like a belt. Can you please show or tell me how I fix this problem on this type of sewing machine. This is the same model as the one in your video Greatly appreciate any help you can give me. I also saw in one of your comments that you got rid of the machine. I'd really like to keep my mom's machine and use it if possible. Thank you
Hi Lulu Hearts I'm Delphine. I saw your comment about the CG 590 Singer sewing machine. I made one of my daughters a garment bag last year, for her wedding dress, although the material used was muslin. I was able to sew several layers together with no problem. I haven't used it since. I recently attempted to use it, and I'm having a problem with the bobbin thread not being able to get picked up. Have you experienced this problem? If so. How did you fix it? I've looked at several videos on the timing hook, which I've understood may be the problem. If you can help me with this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you H Delphin
Yes. I have one of these and it will even sew leather so denim is no problem at all. Peter must not know how to use it as this is a heavy duty sewing machine. The CG stands for commercial grade so this has a motor with twice the power as a home machine. You must use the correct needle and thread. The last person who had it used thread that was too thin. They had the tension at 9 instead of 3 and they did not have a denim needle in it and they had the needle in backwards. I got it cheap because they could not get it to work. It is the best machine I have and I have 14 machines.
I couldn’t figure out several of the things happening bc the video is slightly out of focus and very far away from the tiny parts. Still totally confused about how to use the needle threader. 😞
I know that you no longer own this machine, but what I have to say applies to all machines.... The standard, evenly threaded horizontal spools sold, like the one used in this video, should be placed on the vertical post that is included as an option with our machine, not on the horizontal post. The horizontal post is for cross wounded spools (envision serger thread spools) only. These are the skinny longer spools you find in the thread section. Sewing machine manufactures don't do a very good job of explaining this either, but it is important because the way you loaded the thread in this video it does a twist with each turn as it comes off the spool. This results in doubling the thread size when it reaches the needle. You can get away with this using lighter threads, but load up some heavy weight thread and you are asking for trouble.
Hello Kevin, Im looking for this machine... Im thinkin if its a good purchase or not!!! Because I have been very bad reviews about, Can you recommend this machine ???
Take a look at the Babylock BL9. It is a simply mechanical machine, but very reliable. I've seen is on sale for $99 in the past, so for that price it a great value.
eres el unico que da tutoriales de esta maquina la mia es igualita... pero no te entiendo nadaaaaaaa.. soy de venezuela y necesito ayuda con mi maquina
even after i do this and i thead it all,my thread still brakes off and the tenchion is just right,i can't seem to make the clother run through and sew like i'm supost to,it won't sew the cloth,ok now what
in my experience, this machine is not good at sewing through many layers at once. that's when it jams up, so no, it is not jam-proof. honestly though, i only have problems with this machine when sewing through many layers at once (6+)
Your instructions regardless of visual is 100% better than the Singer Instruction Book. Thank you so much.
AGREED!!
During the Covid-19 social distancing I got out my machine, dusted it off, and pulled up your very helpful video. Thank you for making this. I had honestly forgotten there was a needle threader on it!
Sewing masks for COVID-19 and this was very helpful!
IT this machine good for strech or poliéster strech fabric?

Omg this is the weirdest threading ever. Thanks for a clear view, my manual doesn’t have one and I keep screwing it up. Lifesaver!
THANK YOU!!! The diagrams in the manual were not helping, and your video made it so much easier! I have the Singer 5050, but the threading system is the same. *insert sigh of relief*
Glad to be of help. Happy sewing!
Thank you!! I have a CG-550 and have used this video as a reference several times to problem solve my old cranky machine ❤️
Thank you for your enjoyable instructions - best to you.
Thank you so much for posting. This machine is so different from others. I learned a lot
Ohmigosh, Thank you sooo much! I was so desperate to fix my sewing machine problem. This really helped me out, Thanks Alot!! :D
Hello! I have a Singer 5050c. It is similar to the one in the video. Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for your video it's been of great help.

Hi, I was impressed with the ad on this machine. Does it really go through 12 layers of denim with problems? And is it really jam-proof?
This was very helpful! Thank you!!
How do you adjust the presser foot tension???
Hi. I'm thinking about buying this Singer sewing machine model and I am not sure if the buttonhole feature works well. So, have you tried using the buttonhole stitching feature on this machine? Thank you.

Hi Sharon, I don't have this machine any longer. I do think there's an adjustment (knob? screw?) that raises the height of the teeth.
@ssarryo The buttonhole feature works. You have to practice with it some, but it is quite handy.
Thank you ...your video was very helpful!
What was Singer thinking when they designed this machine, this man is demonstrating how to thread the machine and has trouble doing it. This machine should come with a warning, “may end any desire to sew again”.

Buenas tardes Quiero saber cómo ajusto los dientes en ese tipo de máquina por favor
THANKS, HOMIE
Is this machine good for sewing denim fabric?
In my opinion, no.
Hi Lulu Hearts
I'm Delphine. I got a bit lost at the end. Did I miss where you pulled up the bobbin thread from underneath? it seemed like you didn't and just started sewing...
The one turn of the knob allows the top thread to grab the bobbin thread and it pulls up as you start to sew.
Great help!! Just to hard to see the red
So I have been winding a bobbin wrong the entire time. Also, didn’t know there was a needle threader, but I tried and can’t seem to make it work.
I couldn’t figure out several of the things happening bc the video is slightly out of focus and very far away from the tiny parts. Still totally confused about how to use the needle threader. 😞
Good vid, but please have better lighting in the future. Thanks!

Helpful video but lighting is poor. Would like better lighting and better close ups like some of the other videos showing how to thread this machine.

@pflash01 Oh, good! Thank you! : )
I'm not a sewing expert, but it sounds like a bad problem...maybe you should take it to a repair shop and have them look at it.
Could not see what was actual happening...
