Totally different things as you cannot make a custom curve in-camera. That curve ability in the picture control utility 2 makes a world of a difference - IF you have a few years of experience with curves adjustments in Photoshop that is ;)
I have a question for you. I shoot football/soccer. I find if I'm snapping teams that have white shirts on a very sunny day, end up with bleached out highlights. Could iI use the custom curves to hold back the highlights?
extra tutorial: if you choose the option 'save to card' insert a SD card into your card reader. Nikon will automatically place the file in a folder. The file: PICCON01.NP2 must be removed from the folder and placed as an independent file in the folder structure, then remove the folder, so leave the file PICCON01.NP2 on your sd card. Put the card in your Nikon and go to: manage recording menu-picture control and choose the option: load/save/copy to camera then go back to: set picture control, scroll down and choose the profile you created. if you have? leave a comment.
Error message: There is no Picture Control file on the SD card. The NP3 Files from NikonPC webseit works. But why does not work the NP3 files from picture control utility 2?
I created the NP3 file like in your video. I definitely did everything right. However, this cannot be transferred to the camera. When I insert the SD card, the NP3 files from NikonPC are shown to me, but my individually created file via picture control utility 2 is not shown. Is there any mod or bug patch so that the program works properly?
Is your camera compatible with loading custom made picture profiles? For example, I got tricked when buying the Nikon J5.. that camera does not have the function, but all the other Nikon 1 cameras before it had that. I also dont think the D3XXX-line of cameras have it.
Im not sure if I understand Nikon description on this software, they say you can make your own picture control utility from pc so you can import it on your camera?
Very good. But you didn't show how to load the custom presets into the camera.

Problem with those curves is: They can do more harm if not applied individually per picture.. I would not use them..
@GenX_in_the_wild They only work on the jpegs 😉
can you create best sets for portrait photos ??????

Why would you want filters on a camera if you shoot RAW?
To make it feel like a JPG-shooting Fujifilm?
