That wig somehow undermines everything in the aria. 😂
Exactly. One of the countless examples of how modern designers, directors and producers are allowed to destroy opera.
It’s HILARIOUS though, highlights the Count’s total lack of self-awareness
@@theKobus Yes! The Marriage of Figaro is a mockery of the nobility of its time. The Count IS a fool.
I have the Solti recording of Allen as the Count, Kiri TK as the Countess, Lucia Popp etc Gorgeous, and this aria in that recording is peerless. I have yet to hear a baritone control the triplets as well as he does and none that have the clarity of the F# at the climax.
The best Almaviva!!!
thomas allen smashed this performance of italian words!!!!!!!!!! should be the next eurovision act
This is perfection.
Excellent Count…paced well so that the f# didn’t over shadow the remainder of the aria in terms breath and energy.
That f#, as I mentioned above, makes the aria, in my opinion. I've never heard anyone do it as well. As to your point, I wish Wolfie had found a way to sustain it for, say, several bars (as he did in the tenor aria in Giovanni "Il mio tesoro." )
Bravissimo
He knows that his lows are a bit thin, but doesn't distort to get them sounding growly...unified top to bottom.
bravo
Bravo
Great 👌👌👌
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Sir Thomas Allen is incomparable as the Count and Don Giovanni.
