Soy un argelino que comencé a aprender español con un esfuerzo personal. Y mi apoyo fueron las lecciones publicadas en TH-cam. Y uno de los descubrimientos más importantes que agregué fueron estos maravillosos videos. Tu estilo es excelente y organizado. Muchas gracias por todo el trabajo bien hecho. Saludos desde Argelia
It makes me really happy to know that you enjoy my content and that it fits perfectly to what you needed to keep improving your Spanish. Thanks for your comment. Un saludo 👋🏼
I believe an English expression that means close to the same thing as "dar gato por liebre" is "a pig in a poke". A sales person says that in his poke sack, there is a fat, healthy piglet, but the gullible buyer, on opening the sack might find anything, an opossum, an armadillo, or even a snake! Thanks very much for all your excellent video lessons, Salo.
Hello Salo, many thanks for yet another fine and informative lesson. You work very hard and clearly, are helping so many people. Just for interest, and of course you may already be familiar with the following: The idiom "to buy a pig in a poke" means to buy something without inspecting it first. It dates back to medieval times when farmers would bring pigs to market in sacks or "pokes," and unscrupulous sellers would sometimes try to pass off a less valuable animal, such as a cat, in place of a pig. So, "buying a pig in a poke" refers to making a risky purchase without fully knowing what you're getting.
Buen trabajo.
This is fabulous. Love the slower speed and real life stories. I’m wondering if you ever have an episode where you would have two speakers talking to each other and give a thing moments for the listener to provide their own answer to the question and then when the other person answers the listeners able to check themselves. Maybe the person asking the question could ask it to town in Spanish and then pause and then the answer could be provided by the other individual in the video.
I am someone who thinks he is intermediate, but your videos have words in them that I am not familiar with so I feel a little stupid. But I am using them anyway because the struggling to understand seems to help my concentration and I think I am learning from the experience. I will comment a bit later, once I am sure, but I think all of your hard work setting this up is helping.
Thank you Salo for another excellent video which I strongly recommend to other Spanish language learners. Another English version of "dar gato por liebre" is "to be sold a pup" no doubt with a similar origin to the Spanish equivalent.
Thank you very much Edward! I love it when I get the equivalents to all these expressions from native English speakers :) also it makes me happy to know that you find my content useful. Un saludo 👋🏻
¡Otra vez, muchas gracias! Would you consider producing a video explaining whether or not you should include definite articles in a sentence; eg las mujeres or just mujeres?
Hola John! You’re welcome! I’m glad you find my content useful. :) thanks for your suggestion, it sounds like a nice topic for one of my grammar videos (vamos al grano series) I’ll keep it in mind! Un saludo, que tengas un buen día!
Thank you very much for the video! Do you have the English translation of the story in PDF or in your website? Apart from your explanation, there are still many vocabularies I don't know and it's pretty time consuming that I need to check dictionary one by one. It would be a great help to have the English translation if possible :)
Excellent , thank you I just wish I did not fail when l listen at normal speed at normal speed. Still, my reading improves! I also enjoy your idiom explanations.
That’s great! I’m glad you are enjoying my content Michael! Don’t worry, eventually you’ll start to understand more easily. Practice makes perfect! Saludos 👋🏼
Buying a pig in a poke (Buying a pig in a bag). Fraudulent traders would sell less valuable cats in bags, hence the phrase 'letting the cat out of the bag', meaning to betray a secret.
Thanks for your comment Nancy. I’m preparing the complementary PDF for each story which soon will be available for purchase on my website. In the file you’ll find the transcription of the story and its translation as well as the examples.
I love this series, but the frequency of adverts is starting to make it unwatchable. I recognise a lot of work goes into the video, and that the author deserves payment, but it's starting to ruin the flow, especially adverts during the native spoken parts.

Dar gato por liebre = Bait and switch, or pig in a poke
¡Hola, Salo!
¿Porqué Miguel dice .....se mantienen delgados y preciera....,en lugar de parece ?
😂 despues les Navidades tengo 3 kilos mas😂😂😂😂
Can you just say "Todas las mananas doy un paseo.....? and "Ayer dimos un paseo...."? It is not necessary to utilize "ir" in these sentences, is it?
Yes, Paul. You’re right. You can simply say “dar un paseo”
