It's so easy to grow from seeds but takes a while. If you decide to plant it in the ground, then plant the plant pot too. If you plant the mint on its own, it will spread and take over. Remember to cut it back when it looks woody, so new growth starts. Failure to do so means old mint with little flavour. I cut mine back, and often, it looks dead, but it's not. It will soon be full of new leaves.

Mint can adapt to most soil types, but it prefers a rich soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Good soil drainage also is essential. Mint plants like water, but waterlogged soil can rot their roots.
