  • 'These things are sent to try us' - and they do, don't they? And we're the better for it. The blessing of being tried is that it breaks our complacency. When life goes well we're tempted to think, 'Ah, that's it!' A sensible life works to save your soul beyond the trials and tribulations of the world. This life is a preparatory school. Learn from this school of hard knocks, and follow the inner compass of your heart that leads you home.

I dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts since I was 12, and I can proudly say that pursuing Jesus was the only way I was able to overcome that. When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane he wept and cried out to God “My soul is overwhelmed to the point of death”. That passage for me made me realize that, Jesus really does get it. He’s lived through the same troubles we have, and he proved that to us. Lean into Him, learn about Him, read the Bible and talk to others. And hopefully one day you can be set free too.

Thank you john for answering the question. I'm aware that the true self is not a here today gone tomorrow aspect. It was more of a perspective to look from in the question. In terms of preperation I've been struggling for 14 years with this so I know what to do when it happens to ride the current, just get confused at times as to why these impairments happen out of the blue. Crippling anxiety makes me feel stuck to the ground at times. So I just sit and meditate it out as best as possible. Thank you for the reply it was beautifully put my friend.

Dear John, I visited your area today on Google Earth Street View. I drove on Haddon Road along River Wye to Bakewell. The Lord has put you on His Lap! The stonework and green fields, and trees are all embracing. Do you give talks there? I was moved by seeing the All Saints Church and many other sights. Just like I was there. Let's meet at the Bakewell Pudding Shop! I am so far away, in the Arizona desert! But now refreshed having visited you. Joy

Hi Phil & John. Good to see Phil again today ! I have followed your posts for about a year or so now, and really enjoyed the adventure of discovery. In the mean time i have qualified as a psychotherapist and counsellor. I use an Integrated approach to client work, from the psychoanalytic to CBT & mindfulness. I wanted to make you both aware of the ripples on the pond, the extended effects of your wisdom. I often ask clients to have a look at your work, we then discuss within our therapy sessions. All have been very much impressed with your simple approach to this, it helps them see another way, previously out of their awareness. As a lapsed Catholic, however a Christian of a type, I have been so pleased i found you. Thank you both from my heart. Paul Dodd

Hi John and Phil. Thank you so much for what you do. I've been thinking about the idea of becoming more and more conscious about death during the course of our lives for several years and I realize that, even though I'm only 23, most people are not willing to even think about death like I do. Then I see my grandfather who's 80 and who never thought about these things and now that he's loosing his strength goes to church because he's scared of dying. It makes me think about the ego and how most people still follow their animal instincts, but unlike animals they rely on God when they're scared. My thoughts are not so original, I know, but having said this I keep wondering if it's still the ego that pushes us towards the work to save our soul, just like our animal instincts push us towards survival. In this regard, John, I wanted to ask you if you ever had the chance to explore Taoism and Lao Tzu's ideas, where a man's "goal", for lack of a better term, is not to save himself, but to live in balance and respect of others, knowing that the Tao (God, nature, the whole) is indifferent to what happens to its creatures. I just find these ideas to have a lot to do with the truth you've been able to find in your life, but the ego always seems to lurk everywhere (even in this boring comment). Sorry for the many words and thank you again.

@@onenessseeker5683 I hope this parable of Jesus will give you confidence that all is well NOW and that the kingdom is yours for the taking, even if you feel you're a bit late to the party. :)
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
      Many blessings to you!!

Yes the world we live in is a school, kind of harsh school. Some of us are dropouts, others are bullies here, some are the quiet types so on so forth. Still it is hard to accept the fact that we need to be tried/tested if we were perfect in our ways and created as perfect.
However, I always see humanity as a growing up child.
In times of so called "eden" we were deemed as perfect newly born infant who trusted parents and loved being marked as the greatest gift they could have.
Now humanity was or is adolescent youngster who in past few thousand years is behaving like 9-18 years old teen in age of rebellion. We may now be in the rebellion for independence trial. It is like saying:
    - Nobody is going to order me around, not even me!
    then we realize:
    - We have met the enemy and they are us.
What can parents or god or etc. do at this point? They must let the consequences of the young person's resistant choices play out and not interfere. Only then we will learn.
Ending this rebellion against self-interest and accepting their leadership authority in life is the last challenge of adolescence. It must be met before young adulthood can truly begin.

Thought creates a image you have of yourself and others , but is not there without thought. When you see the illusion thought has created and the image it has created no one will be able to put a pin into it including yourself. When you get rid of the illusion, only then you will be able to see what you really are .

One thing that bothers me about this video that I’d like to see in another possible video is…
When John says that it’s all preparation and the mission is to save your soul, what can go wrong and what are the consequences of this? Are we not guaranteed heaven? I suppose I mean at the end of it all

Can anyone tell me how a Human prepared him/herself for the kingdom of God before Christianity came on the scene? I mean, where did all those souls go that never had the faintest clue of one God that sent his Son to die for our sins? Think of the millions, if not billions of souls that didn't have the "benefit" of knowing the Christ, or of the bible, or of the promises made if they would only give themselves to God/Christ. Where are those souls now then? And is it their fault that they were born hundreds or thousands, or tens of thousands of years before Christ revealed himself and his promises?

Well Friend, according to Jewish/Hindu/Buddist/Zaoist/Indigenous/etc etc. thinking?
Soles were/are Reincarnated until they reach their Perfect sole.?? Nirvana? Christianity teachs against such thoughts since his arrival for he stated "I AM the way the truth and the Life" No one come to the Father but way of me. His way being Jewish was from Anitiquity/Kabbalistic thinking in the Golden Rules:
      "Love thy neibor as thyself"
"Do onto others as you would have done to yourself"
He generally broke down the Torah(Hebrew) ways for ALL of mankind.
Heres some food for thought.! Jesus Christ himself after his Crucifixtion was Reincarnated himself, as an Incarnate (back as himself) and the ONLY ONE who apparently ever did in ANY Religion respectively.
Hope this sheds some light for you friend.☺
PS: And 2 Prophets in OTorah never died...they ascended straight UP☝.

@@need2know739 , thank you for your answer. So if I've understood correctly, pre- arrival of Christ, you get re-cycled, and denied any place in Heaven because you were born too early. Post - Christ, if you're a firm believer etc, you get granted a place in Heaven, because you were born at the right time to be around when JC was on the earth, or you were here after his death, and had access to the torah, or a temple, or teachers. And JC got both, he got re-cycled, AND got a place in Heaven........ So, that begs a second question then. We are led to believe that Modern Humans have been in existence for around 250,000/ 300,000 years. Why did God/Christ, wait for 248,000 years before coming to earth and revealing the way and method of getting into Heaven? Why was God/Christ content to let billions of souls be re-cycled and denied a place in Heaven? And yet post Christs arrival, you're not re-cycled, and you do get a place in Heaven if you have faith, follow and believe? It doesn't sound very democratic or fair does it?

@@SpiritualUnfoldment I am also curious about his feelings on these things. However, I sure would hate for any ill feelings to come up here, as these can be such divisive topics. Nevertheless, if John ever feels like expounding on this kind of thing, I'd be all ears. I've had two dreams in which Jesus has told me He is coming soon, and I often wonder what the exact meaning of them might be. I suspect he might blow right past the theological arguments about such things and into the heart of the true meaning.

@@SpiritualUnfoldment Haha that's fair. I don't want to waste time asking about things that aren't helpful, so yes my question about ressurection is just out of curiosity. But as far the rapture goes, I think if he addresses this topic people will become more serious in their faith. There are many people including myself who are getting dreams that Jesus is returning right now, and I'd like to know if John senses this as well, or if he thinks getting caught up in this matters. Thank you

5:50 the meaning of life is to learn, also on mistakes, and to know why they are mistakes. Life is a playing ground, to evolve... To become godly. To become gods, to break the chain of "Samsara" (Vedas) into higher realms...Of course John (partially Russian) was raised in Christianity, although he "found" the meaning of meditation, which existed before the judeochristianity and remained (preserved since the "pagan" slavic Russia) also in Orthodox Pravo Verye ("right faith"); Prav realm was in times of pagan Russia believed to be the realm of gods, ruled by Perun and Svarog in Heavenly Iriy. Also known as realm of Svarga, ruled by god Svarog. Svarga is also known in Vedas, the realm of Svargaloka (Svarog's Log(forest; in Russia, slavic lands used to be a territory in the forest which is close to the source of life - water). John reminds me of those prechristian old believers, called Volhvs (Mages) who were also known as Veduni (Vedas; "those who know")...66.media.tumblr.com/30a217b375a1bb90c0dbc0cf66b9d368/tumblr_ompzguFljo1uc488jo1_400.jpg

John always says that our suffering comes from duality, as in you and I. Does that mean if we observe ourselves as though we are someone else and give ourselves an order, so to speak, i.e. 'You must do the washing up' or 'Go to your room' is this a sort of Triality?? 🤔😂

    • @SpiritualUnfoldment
      @SpiritualUnfoldment  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Actually, a very insightful idea. John often refers to the “3rd point“ which resolves the duality rather than extend it. Phil

"These things are sent to try us": I take the liberty to strongly disagree. We aren't "tried" by God; were it so, this God would be too capricious and cruel to fit my heart desire; certainly it would not be the God of love I find in myself. I object to such a human-like god. Things happen to us to help us learn and discover and deepen our connection with spirit, which is love and beauty and peace and equality and movement and harmony and everlasting security.

Hi, John. Your wisdom is a stepping stone on my own journey to find my own path towards peace and spiritual fulfillment in this life.
I don't want to pose too difficult a question, but I've noticed you talk about the benefits of using this life for learning and seeking oneness. We're so lucky, however, to be given those opportunities - and I often worry about the many people in this world who have to fight all day just for a chance at survival. Communities ravaged by disease and hunger, infants dying before they're given a chance, people who have to endure the worst hardships imaginable. Folks who believe in reincarnation often state that these short, brutal lives help build empathy in the soul as it moves to the next existence, trying to give purpose to the lives that have it the hardest. What do you believe? How do you incorporate the suffering of third-world countries into your world view?
