Excellent tutorial. Mounted mi new bindings perfectly. Now I have an issue, drilled another pair of skis (went a little bit further), screwed long screws, so I tooked them off. Now i have the correct screws. Should I use the same wholes? Adding epoxy to it of course. Thks for your help
Thanks for watching. You can reuse the holes 2-3 times before needing to redrill. Careful not to cross-thread. Shorter screws shouldn't be an issue. Epoxy is definitely a good idea, but not too much.
What's the reason for the different instructions for titanal skis? Is this for any ski with metal layers? Thinking of putting these in some Nordica Enforcers which are notoriously heavy with metal, and I was hoping I could just follow the default instructions 😬
The outside diameter of a binding screw is 5mm and inside diameter is 4mm. Drilling at 3.5 when there is no metal (possibly cf too) layer is ok because the material is compressible and you get a good tight fit. When there is a non compressible layer in the ski, the hole has to be drilled to the size of the screw od. Always use the size recommended on the ski if it’s available.
I'm having trouble finding the template for marker kingpin 10 anyone have a clue where to find them? Seems as though previous templates have been removed on most websites.
is it possible to remove the bindings you mounted with the inserts? or will the inserts evenually get loosa at a point when you always screw in and screw out the screws (is the epoxy strong enough)? asking because I'm thinking of drilling the holes for two bindings on the ski, so that I can change them (for touring day/groomer day)
Absolutely. The inserts allow you to remove/reinstall bindings as many times as you like. You can install inserts for two different bindings and switch like you're wanting to do. I've never had inserts come loose but if they did I would re- epoxy them in. Before installing inserts it's a good idea to rinse them in rubbing alcohol. This will remove any potential oils on the threads, and ensure a good bond to the epoxy.
For the inserts, you'll need: 6 - 10mm flat heads 8 - 12mm flat heads with heads reduced to 8mm diameter 4 - 20mm flat heads You can order them from binding freedom/tognar or just buy 20mm flat heads and cut to length/grind head to 8mm. They are flathead M5's with thread pitch = 0.8. Make sure they are stainless steel. www.bindingfreedom.com/marker/
Yeah, a waterproof wood glue is sufficient. It's mostly there just to seal any space between the screw and core to prevent water damage. I use epoxy if I'm reusing holes or installing inserts.
@@WilltoRide What screws should I use when mounting? My skis came with inserts already mounted but I’m remounting them without inserts in a different place on the ski for this season.
@@brennantsullivan You will need alpine binding screws. Most shops will have them. There are some online retailers that sell them as well. Be aware that the specific head shapes and screw lengths will be unique to your bindings. Be sure to investigate and know what lengths you'll need.
Excellent video. Thank you very much.

Second link in the description has the template for the marker kingpin. It's the same one I used

Hello, I have the same bindings, what type of screws do you buy so that they work with the inserts?
For the inserts, you'll need:
6 - 10mm flat heads
8 - 12mm flat heads with heads reduced to 8mm diameter
4 - 20mm flat heads
You can order them from binding freedom/tognar or just buy 20mm flat heads and cut to length/grind head to 8mm. They are flathead M5's with thread pitch = 0.8. Make sure they are stainless steel.

so when mounting without inserts you can just use wood glue and it holds well enough?

Can you send inserts link
Absolutely. I've bought from two places over the years:
