As someone who played this game both as a kid and adult, this is an amazing platformer. The good art-style, the crisp and responsive movement, the methods of attacking being more than just "jump on the enemy's noggin", the vibe system that provides useful abilities which the level design makes you take advantage of constantly, the unique enemies, the meaningful shop system, the health system that allows for better boss fights than you'd get in a typical Mario game, the fact that Peach alerts you if a Toad is in the room, the easter eggs, et cetera. There was a lot of work put into this game, and it shows. If you're willing to ignore the gender-stereotyping (and, to be fair, that's a pretty big thing to ignore) as well as the occasional "pick-a-door" segment, you'd find one of the best 2D Mario games ever made if not the literal best.
while it is playing into a "women = emotional" stereotype, i find it charming that shes seemingly the only one without the vibe scepter to have such control over her emotions. every basic enemy only has one at a time, and theyre completely overtaken by it. the gimmick affecting everyone, including bowser, makes it so genuine. its not just teehee woman emotional and cries a lot (also shoutout that they give her fiery anger? women dont often get that in most media.)
“First Nintendo game with a woman protagonist” I mean, Samus has been around since the NES days, so I’m pretty sure Metroid is the first Nintendo game with a woman protagonist (although they did make it weird where she’d only show her face at the end if you beat the game fast enough, and that if you beat it even faster, she strips for no discernible reason?) Meanwhile with Game Freak, the first girl protagonist they made that was an actual character and not an avatar for the player was Jill for Drill Dozer, who’s awesome.
I played this game as a kid so much the vibe scepeter played a major role in a dream i remember still to this day from elemntary. but like. it got more magic abilities. such as. turnign pine tres into man eating gingerbread people that when they eat you you ride a Mario Slide TM straight into a cage. the flashing lights for the big boos were not nearly so harsh on console, i think that's an emulation problem cosplaying Boos? has Alpharad forgotten the boo catgirl cashiers in ttyd?
I love that right after you pointed out that the underwater theme sounds like "Komm süßer Tod", the ocean turns into LCL ???? Peach is fighting her way through a post-impact world
You’re telling me, I didn’t have to through the trouble of downloading an autoclicker for the boo stylus thing because I was supposed to.. swipe them? I struggled for 30 minutes with that stupid minigame.
I really appreciate the unique sprite work fof this game. It's so colorful and dynamic, especially compared to the more stale NSMB offerings. Sad that the gameplay is kind of eh, but it'd be interesting to see another game in this style.
I thought the game's gameplay was better than eh. It's pretty fun. A bit easy, to be sure, but you can see what they were going for and it's a shame that it never got a sequel 'cause it's got a ton of potential imo.
@Bread And Circuses It's been a long while since I've personally played the game, but from what I remember the game's physics felt really, really good. The platforming could be really fun. The platforming was a lot of fun. I also thought the emotions could, in theory lend themselves to some fun little puzzles. It's kinda hard to explain, I just thought it was a really fun game that had a couple of small issues that could have been ironed out with a sequel. I'm not sure how much you could get outta a super princess peach subseries, but I do think it's first game was more than good enough to warrant a sequel. As for if it could compete with the best platformers of all time, I mean I dunno. My personal picks for best platformers of all time are Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and Kirby Super Star and if we're comparing Super Princess Peach to those games, absolutely not. I mean, imo, those games are some of the best games of all time, kinda hard to compete with them. But if we're talking about if Super Princess Peach could compete with the platformers from those respective game series that were out at the time, absolutely! As much as I liked the Rush games, I think an argument could be made that Super Princess Peach was better than both Sonic rush games, it was absolutely better than Yoshi's Island DS and Kirby Squeak Squad. Not to sure if it beats New Super Mario bros, but I'm weird and actually really liked most of the new super mario games (wii's probably my personal favorite )
Miss Ogony sounds like a One Piece character who’s entire gimmick is being super pro-men despite being a woman, in the same vein as Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks.
@@reala7140 For 3D World, Bowser captured the Sprixies in a jar (a trope used in capturing fairies), so for revenge, Bowser got captured in a jar instead, I guess?
"Bowser steals Peachs vibrator and shows Mario who's boss" sounds like the plot of a fanfic lol
This is the most underrated underrated game.
It is the most game ever
@DecayingFairy it really is at least one video game on the ds.
literally everyone is shoving that take down every other people's throats, when does the "underrated" come in

Peach is a big female gender stereotype but does it positively I feel so I'm fine with it being used as strengths here IMO.
@breadandcircuses8127youre weird as hell
@@zjzr08semi agree honestly, she’s not being made fun of and it’s all sincere so I do like this game a lot, but it is frustrating lol.

I’ll play ball with the VOD. I’m a Toad main but whenever he’s not available I play Dk or Peach
Yo, why is this game actually kinda sick?? It seems kinda like a blend between Mario and Kirby, gameplay-wise.
Fun stream!
this being recommended to me after i’ve been raving about princess peach showtime feels very targeted
35:49 It really could still be a boat after all this time
My fav boss in the game was always the ice dinosaur, I used to battle it over and over again coz I thought it was so cute!

At the end of a level you have a rare chance of hitting a peach that gives a lot of coins
