  • Home Invasion stories tap into one of our most human fears. Your home is supposed to be a safe space, a place where you can relax and be yourself. So what happens when someone destroys that?
A home invasion, even without violence, leads you to have something like an existential crisis, because when that bedrock to your life, your home, your personal space, and your peace of mind... is gone.
Here are some Horror Books and Horror Movies recommendations with the subgenre of: Home Invasion.

I had a friend who was a victim of a home invasion. He got really lucky though, or as lucky as you could get in that scenario. Two men broke into his home during the early afternoon. My friend worked nights at the time, so he was getting some sleep before he had to get up and get ready for work. He heard them moving around his house, he got scared, so he pretended that he was still asleep and did not hear them. He made light snoring sounds. When the guys got to his room, they worked as quietly as possible, grabbing what they could but in a way that would not disturb my friend. Then they left. My friend stayed calm the whole time. He reasoned that if the guys were breaking in during the day that they were hoping that no one would be home so that they could just steal some things without getting into a confrontation, and he must have been right. He had his car in the shop at the time, so there were no cars in his driveway. Still, it shook him up. He got an alarm system after that.
Also. I hated Funny Games. I will never watch it again, but, in this case, I consider that a success because that means that Haneke successfully got under my skin.
My favorite home invasion movie is Don't Breathe. It is fantastic. I love watching someone actually fight back against home invaders, for a change, and the twist made me gasp. I know there are plot holes if you really think about certain things, but it was still an unexpectedly great horror film.

OMG how horrible. Thanks for sharing that story. Honestly I do not know what I would do in such a situation. You also do not have much time to think. But staying in bed pretending to be asleep must have been so nerve wracking.I can not even imagine how scary that was.
I think it is a natural reaction to hate Funny Games. And probably what the director wanted. To make people uncomfortable and angry.
Don't breathe is rgeat. I loved it too.

Home Invasion is my biggest fear, so I rarely watch movies or read books about it 😔I hated Funny Games, it stressed me out too much. I'm too sacred to watch Incident in a Ghostland... The movie I do like is Hush, it was so good!
Alsooo, that is one of your best mugs! 😂

That is totally understandable. When you are reading those books or watch a movie like that, they do leave you a lot more unsettled and on edge because it is just something so real.
Hush is amazing...Mike Flanagan can do us no wrong. He is a genius
Hahahaha listen, I love this mug so much I bought two so I could have a back up if this one breaks.

I LOVED the video! Thank you so much for the recs!
As an introvert, I appreciate boundaries and privacy, so home invasion is truly horrifying to me...😭

Thank you so much! I totally get that. I hate strangers in my home too. I do not even like when someone has to come fix something.

Holy hell, Endless Night sounds insane! It's been on my TBR shelf for like five years, ever the summer I told myself that I was going to own and read every Richard Laymon book I could find. I guess now's the time! Thank you, Kasha!😃🙏🖤👻

Excuse me...you need to get to Endless Night sir. At least get to this one because it is wild and then you will love Laymon as much as I do..hopefully

Living with 2 weird sound specialists (cats) the nights typically include some confusion and what was that?!?! I’m telling myself that if someone breaks in I would know because one of them would be adamant about begging for food. He sounds like a goat falling off a cliff doing that, which is different from night shenanigans.

OMG that is so true. Some cats get the zoomies at night. Mine are normally very quiet and sleep in bed with us so we do not get many scary moments.
Bahahahaha goat falling off a cliff. But it is true that cats are a good alarm.

Great reconmendations. I love you include thriller as well as horror as i read both and love a good mystery. I dont know if you have already done a haunted house suggestion video or the best retro horror books. Also any reconmendations where no animals het hurt , i know ita daft but i cant read anything where an animal gets hurt or killed x

Thank you! And thank you for the video suggestions. I know that many people watch my channel for horror but maybe we are not all at the same level. Some people might read thrillers or light horror and others might like the extreme so I try to suggest different types of books and movies.
I also hate when animals get hurt in books and movies.
