Reading the post about Jonghyun's last letter (a letter which he instructed to his friend be published if once he's gone), it's so chillingly apt that he also wrote these lyrics. It's so sad to think that these words are the words that he probably wanted to hear from someone close to him. Especially the words in the chorus: "although i cannot understand the depths of your sighs, it's alright coz i will still hug you". It's heartbreaking to think that he probably thinks no one understands him and nobody can empathize or sympathize with what he's going through. I hope we learn to be a society of kindness where instead of criticizing and ignoring we extend a helping hand because each of us is fighting a war within ourselves. I have rebuilt my playlist countless times through the years and even though I'm not a hardcore fan, Shinee is always on top of the KPOP acts that I include in the acts that I listen to. I will never be able to listen to their music the same way ever again. To Jonghyun- I hope that you're now in a better and kinder place. And that the pain you have endured has already ended. Thank you for the music and the wonderful emotions that it made me feel. You did well, you did very well. And we will never ever forget you.
I think the mv director did this song justice. It's such an amazing song, sung by an amazing singer, and the director give it a beautiful mv to go along with it. I love how the mv starts out with a "trickingly calm" shot of seoul, of that train passing, and how it still ends with an air shot view of Seoul. The city is shot beautifully here and we as humans everywhere are used to image of scenery to "calm us down". But then the mv goes to shoot the people, from the woman alone in the room, the male and female office worker, the taxi driver and the construction worker, also lee hi herself. The city might be vast, the image might be calm but the people inside it are pressured. And at the end the people and leehi are all touching the windows. The truth is whoever it is, your family, your child, your best friend, your partner, they probably will never know exactly 100% about your struggle. And by touching the window like the woman, leehi, and the office worker this song is trying to tell you that they're there for you eventhough they may not understand. And it just absolutely broke me that the last line is "you did a good job" just like how Jonghyun wished we would say to him. If i may i even speculate Jonghyun wrote this song for himself. Anywho that's all my theory. It's just my interpretation of it so i'm sorry if it's wild or you have been like "duh it's obvious". I'm sorry i'm just crying to this song. Jonghyun, i sincerely say you have done a wonderful job and thank you for leaving us with this legacy. I feel like i'm not worthy of something this beautiful but thank you anyways. We miss you everyday.
