  • CONTRIBUTIONS OF EULER:
Euler also made contributions in the fields of number theory, graph theory, logic, and applied mathematics. He received a number of Paris Academy Prizes for his work in astronomy, which mostly focused on understanding comets and determining their orbits. Euler's contemporary colleagues, and even mathematicians working today, recognize him as one of the greatest mathematicians to have ever lived. Euler's name is associated with a large number of topics.
He proved that the sum of the reciprocals of the primes diverges. In doing so, he discovered the connection between the Riemann zeta function and the prime numbers; this is known as the Euler product formula for the Riemann zeta function. Euler also conjectured the law of quadratic reciprocity.
Euler's formula, either of two important mathematical theorems of Leonhard Euler. It is written F + V = E + 2, where F is the number of faces, V the number of vertices, and E the number of edges. A cube, for example, has 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges and satisfies this formula.
    CONTRIBUTIONS OF GAUSS:
Gauss wrote the first systematic textbook on algebraic number theory and rediscovered the asteroid Ceres. He published works on number theory, the mathematical theory of map construction, and many other subjects.
At 15, Gauss was the first to find any kind of a pattern in the occurrence of prime numbers, a problem which had exercised the minds of the best mathematicians since ancient times.
Gauss's method forms a general formula for the sum of the first n integers, namely that 1+2+3+\ldots +n=\frac{1}{2}n(n+1) One way of presenting Gauss' method is to write out the sum twice, the second time reversing it as shown. If we add both rows we get the sum of 1 to n, but twice.
In addition, he proved the following conjectured theorems:
    1. Fermat polygonal number theorem for n = 3
    2. Fermat's last theorem for n = 5
    3. Descartes's rule of signs
    4. Kepler conjecture for regular arrangements
    He also
    1. explained the pentagramma mirificum (see University of Bielefeld website)
    2. developed an algorithm for determining the date of Easter
    3. invented the Cooley-Tukey FFT algorithm for calculating the discrete Fourier transforms 160 3. 4. years before Cooley and Tukey

If gauss is price of mathematics than euler is king

There’s no way to assess either of their IQs, nor does that settle the question of who is the greater mind.

    Fibonacci, Da Vinci, Euler.
I will name my son Leonard, hence this will increase his chances to become a great mathematician.

This is called 'war of contributions' although people like to talk up Ramanujan as part of pop culture he does not compare to even a tenth of the output of either Euler or Gauss in terms of contribution.

Did Gauss and Euler ever meet each other?

Gauss was six when Euler died so probably they never met.
