Hi Max! Yep, there were quite a few bugs, but if I kept walking it wasn’t too bad- lol. My mosquito spray worked pretty well, maybe it works best on the forest bugs. We try to hike this trail about once a year- it’s fun to go in different seasons. In the winter they draw down the lake and you can walk out at least 50’ away from the tree line. About 8-10 years ago the big bridge only had one railing to it, and it finally got washed away… I’m really happy with the new sturdy one with two sides. It really wasn’t that hard to bring some fresh food to cook up- there are lots of great ideas on Chef Corso’s channel and in his small recipe books. Thanks, and I hope you can get out for an overnight trip too!!

Just stunning hike and overnighter Jen. Love that one. Your walk in with all the berries - never heard of a Salmonberry!! They looked delicious And the birdsong and the views when you got to your camp spot. Absolutely wonderful. I can understand that it’s not the best if there’s a few people about but made up for by being woken by the Loons (Great Northern Divers over here) Just mesmerising to watch. That is a nice trail for walking plus the camping was nice spot with the lake view. Awesome camping dinner recipe. That would be nice to get that 4 miles trail walk. I'm sure it is very rewarding!

Hi Packs! Nice that it wasn’t too many miles, or much elevation gain! Not like the Highline - 🤣 It was fun to try a fresh meal… and I kept my pack weight under 45 lbs - lol! 😉😄 (25 -28 lbs)

Hello Steven! I've always heard them in the forest, but not known what bird they were- so exciting that they are your favorite! Do you see them too? or just hear them? I should bring binoculars some time so I can spot them. O yes, living in the PNW is the best!! :)
@@JenniferLupine I’ve never seen a Swainson’s Thrush in the wild. Their kind of drab coloration and small size (6 or 7 inches) makes them difficult to see. Plus, they seem like to hang out in dense brush and deciduous trees. I think binoculars would definitely help finding them.

Wow, great solo campsite you created for yourself here. Healthy salmon and spinach sandwich, beautiful view of Mt Baker with leftover snow, peaceful Baker Lake & refreshing Anderson creek. I think you had recommended it to me maybe, I finally installed it and am just starting to learn all the things I can do with it! I love how it shows in real time what you’re hearing. On one hike we were hearing 4 different birds! Not seeing though, that was awesome!! 👌

Their call is really interesting, not really a chirp, that was really special! And it was also exciting to finally identify the Swainson’s Thrush! I’ve heard them often, but now that I have the Merlin Bird ID app, I can ID which bird is saying hello! Ah yes, the wild berries are a special treat during summer hiking. That is a nice trail for walking plus the camping was nice spot with the lake view. Awesome camping dinner recipe. That would be nice to get that 4 miles trail walk. I'm sure it is very rewarding!

Hi Packs! Nice that it wasn’t too many miles, or much elevation gain! Not like the Highline - 🤣 It was fun to try a fresh meal… and I kept my pack weight under 45 lbs - lol! 😉😄 (25 -28 lbs)

Too bad the clouds rolled in… but we did get some nice moody views of the mountain and lake… it wasn’t much more effort to bring fresh food for one night, just an extra pan and a little planning ahead, and it was totally worth it! I loved your campsite and that was a nice shot of Baker. Every thing was so green there. It's funny how 30% chance of rain is 100% wet!lol! Great video Jen.

Hello Steven! I've always heard them in the forest, but not known what bird they were- so exciting that they are your favorite! Do you see them too? or just hear them? I should bring binoculars some time so I can spot them. O yes, living in the PNW is the best!! :)
@@JenniferLupine I’ve never seen a Swainson’s Thrush in the wild. Their kind of drab coloration and small size (6 or 7 inches) makes them difficult to see. Plus, they seem like to hang out in dense brush and deciduous trees. I think binoculars would definitely help finding them.

Wow, great solo campsite you created for yourself here. Healthy salmon and spinach sandwich, beautiful view of Mt Baker with leftover snow, peaceful Baker Lake & refreshing Anderson creek. Then wake aking up in the morning greeted by those beautiful ducks swimming around passing by. Life is good, isn't it? I enjoyed it fully, Jen. Thanks for a trip!

Hi Bruce and Otis! Yes, I’m sure you would love this trail! Do you guys have fresh wild berries too? I’d imagine you have at least a few varieties! It’s a nice bonus for summer hiking! Weren’t the Loons amazing- it’s not really a ‘peep’ mouse that they make, but it was a very soft sound, and so special to see them swim by! You can’t really plan those moments! Thanks!

Hi Tony! Wasn't that exciting to see wild strawberries! There were about 5-6 that were ripe- they taste great! I know of a couple places to find them... one of the fun things about summer. I think you had recommended it to me maybe, I finally installed it and am just starting to learn all the things I can do with it! I love how it shows in real time what you’re hearing. On one hike we were hearing 4 different birds! Not seeing though, that was awesome!! 👌
