I am lost for words, this is beyond exquisite, I wonder why we have trained our minds to call this architecture primitive? I am so tired of the cement boxes we build these days that suck the life out of us because of population and all. African must go back to the basics, this is where real beauty is.
Wow. This took me back to my formative years. My mom used to decorate our living area almost the same way, but she was not as good as my aunt in Bale Ha-Manenzhe in the Limpopo valley of South Africa. This is disappearing fast. Thanks for the post. As a budding filmmaker, I am tempted to archive.some of the homes that still decorate this way. Well done!!
Am from Nigeria, I have not seen any traditional huts built this elaborate. It is beautiful and colorful. It shows what can be done with traditional architecture.
I dream of a large round house with separate spaces for sleeping, eating, socialising, a large yellow front door, six glass windows, on two or three floor levels, large staircase connects the levels and flat round roof. Would they build this architecture in Ghana, I wonder?
I love the beautiful homes but I must confess I come back for that beautiful tune at the beginning ," Ayikho einye ndawo enje ngekhaya" I wish there was a link to the music. I don't know how to get this music.
Veronica Can you make it again but explain how to mix the mud for the walls, how to thread the grass and how to make the paint. Intend to build a community center in US for African Americans to retreat from hostile environment
so how did our ancestors survive before colonialism and machinery/you probably mean industrialisation. life in Africa only began with machinery or what???
I just watched this for the second time. These women are so talented!!!! The designs are absolutely stunning. By the way, I saw a bucket of water in a couple of homes, and it made me wonder how far the well is. Was the bike the first prize? Do the women know how to ride a bike?
iloirtimusiikista hello, the well can be a few kms away. The plough is the first prize. The young women can ride bikes, specially girls, but it is mainly men
@@zouero Thanks for your reply. I'm curious: How difficult would it be to get a well to this village, so that the women (I assume) would not have to walk several kms to get water? (I'm exhausted just thinking about it.)

The rich people of Zimbabwe. In our westernized society we have a belief that being rich is having a lot of money, big homes, nice cars, a lot of clothing, a lot of food and drink, having a degree and may be a business and being happy* and healthy*. When you take a good look at the westernized society you will realize most people are stressed out and miserable with all the mentioned above. The problem is not only most of the things mentioned above are toxic for our mind and body, but they keep us away from being happy. Worst yet, the elite of this westernized society want to impose its sicken vision to the people of Africa, Asia and the Caribbean by labeling them third world countries and societies. After many centuries of failure this westernized society has started to look back at African and Asian cultures because they just found out they are poisoning the planet with their toxic lifestyle. Now the big words are green, bio, organic, sustainability, peace*. But they have not yet come clean in the department of God. Because Christianity is very toxic to our African, Asian and Caribbean society. Today money can buy paradise thanks to a fake savior and god, called Jesus. Imagine how many churches are there in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Today any charlatan can become a protestant pastor thanks to the United States. The catholic has a church in almost every city and town around the world. No business can come close to the amount of profit they make by selling Jesus, Mary, The Saints and the fake god to the so called poor people. There are approximately 1.2 billions of Catholics and 1.3 billions of Christians in the world, that almost the size of China and India combined, luckily China and India have decided to keep these fake gods and beliefs away from their country. What if they were to collect 5 billion dollars weekly, 5 times 52 = 260 Billion Dollars a year. What kind of business that makes such a huge amount of money. I am being very generous by mentioning only 260 billion dollars. Because they pay to have a certificate of birth, marriage, death, first communion, baptize, and donations for special events and prayers. Since the birth of the very first civilization, peace, love, organic foods, bio diversity, green and ecological homes and buildings have been part of living in Africa. Spirituality is sacred, complex in our African and Caribbean society, spirituality is the fabric of our culture. We don't preach it nor force anyone to accept it, because it was given to us by our creator the very first instant we came to the world. Black people will continue on the path of happiness even when every other color hates us. Killing or terrorizing others is not part of who we are. We are only group of people who accept and love every race and color as so called black people. We are not racist and we will never be. Being the first comes with great burden and responsibility. Luckily we are the strongest, almost every nation in Europe including the Arabs, Chinese, Japanese try kill or exterminate us or rob, rape, kill us as black people. For your information, there are ore black matter and dark energy than any thing else in the universes. The colonizers, the killers, the criminals and the haters will never succeed and the Crown of Life will come back to us someday peacefully and gracefully. We are the first and the chosen people of the whole world, that's why we sing and dance the bit of a happy and rich life like no one else. The whole earth was given to us, and still Africa remains the richest and the most resourceful place on earth, so we are fucking rich and richer than any one else. We don't need a lot of wealth to live a happy life, because being happy and resilient is in our DNA. Come and join us so we live a happy life without wars. Tell the Europeans to stop raging wars! We must learn to live together as brothers and sisters or vanish together as poor-minded, racists, criminals and cupid!
Originally Ndebeles migrated from south Africa under Mzilikazi. They were known as the Khumalos. They are the Ngunis so most of their culture is similar to the Zulu culture
So why are rural Afrikans killing themselves to to raise meager funds just to construct small piddly conventional brick houses when they can build palaces and castles from material available to them.. 🤔
The Ndebele are very very clean and tidy too as well as being creative
Being clean and tidy is in the genes of black South Africans so the Ndebele over there are following their South African roots
