I personally like the Airbnb/Reno content more. Especially the more transparent you are with finances, regrets etc. And just personally, I’m probably less likely to watch EV videos or reviews of random products. There’s so much opportunity to do cool videos in the ‘travel’ accomodations space in my opinion, which would be consistent with your Airbnb theme. People want to see original videos of cool experiences they otherwise wouldn’t have known about. In my opinion, be careful not to turn the ‘checked in’ series into just the same routine video where you tour random airbnbs. Keep it original, and keep your standards high for which airbnbs you tour in terms of their quality and uniqueness.
My husband does hvac and during the summer if you turn off your air conditioning, the house will get really hot inside. It would take constant running for hours (maybe days) to get to back to a comfortable temperature. I would keep it at like 85-89 when no one is staying there and bump it down to 78 the day they check in. Turning it off completely could end up costing you more

I'm definitely in the ditch right now, lol.
I remember a service that you hired for your Palm Springs home where you didn’t pay very much money and three different designers give you three different ideas. Maybe you can do that here
Consider this: Since you love real estate and property tours so much, contact local developers and offer your services "for hire" that way they could have content for marketing purposes and you could promote their projects on your channel.....that way you could cash-in twice. Additionally, since we are in the midst of a real estate downturn, now more than ever, developers need to get out from under excess inventory.
While I appreciate the diversity in your videos, I get wanting to try the niche thing. I think your plan of sticking to the real estate, Checked-in, home things makes sense - especially with the Joshua Tree project coming along. The concept of being a "ghost writer/producer" is also very interesting.
Was looking forward to Monica's reaction to the video. But all we got was a comment on the power bill. Wanted to see a realtors retrospective. Did you overpay when purchasing? Overinvest in the remodel? Did you missprice in the summer? Moar MoChurch
Could you put in the same word or tag line in each title so the system sees that and sends it out? I never get notifications on your other channel. I do get notifications for this channel. Also, is there a reason the TV was not centered on the wall? Can't wait to see what you put under it.
I actually enjoy the variety of your channel. You and Monica are literally the only channel I watch every single video from. I am subbed to some hair care channels, but it gets to the point that I don't need 20 hair videos to watch. (As well, they always do the same trends so you're watching the same video, just with a different person.) Suggestion - your thumbnails don't stand out. I have another channel, very small so no custom thumbnails, but if I could, I would make a border so that it sticks out more. I hate the gaping shock mouth thumbnails. I hope that trend dies sooner than later. As well, your content doesn't match the trend - your content isn't clickbait or fluffy garbage. I also find some of your reviews are hit and miss. You'll trail off sometimes, or not know information and trail off. The Oura Ring video you only tested against your Apple watch it was only for a few minutes. If I were interested in the product, I would want to watch a video of it being actually tested. I find this a very stark contrast to the filming - you have good B roll, most of the videos are smooth and consistent, good angles, etc and then you're trailing off about bathroom amenities.
I personally am the kind of youtube consumer that watches every single video that every person I'm subscribed to posts. I've cut my subscribed to list down over the years so it's truly just people who I WANT to watch all of their content regardless of the topic. So that being said, I watch every single video on your vlog and main channel even if the specific topic doesn't interest me. I am more interested in your home reno/airbnb content vs the random product reviews and the EV content, but I still watch them all!
Hey Shelby! I have a question about the painting you showed. If you haven’t already painted over it, I would really be interested in purchasing! I’d be willing to pay up to $200 for it! Really amazing work😊
the Free electricity in riverside is kinda a lie, you are basically trading your variable Electricity bill for a locked in Monthly price for the solar panels(because you are paying for the solar panels over a lease untill they are payed off in full). So on avg if you pay 350 for Electricity you would want your solar panel bill to be lower than that or at that 350. so in 10-20 years your solar panels will eventually be paid off and then you wont have your standard variable electricity bill.
In this video you and Monica started talking about electricity and water. What about adding that kind of thing into your home content? Education on how home’s operate could be so helpful and interesting.
Shelby this is off topic- is it your legs and Air Jordan's in a hammock in the Virgin Cruises ad on instagram and facebook? I think I can recognize those air jordans of yours 😄
I live in New Mexico and one thing you might consider for the new house is installing a swamp cooler (I have Master Cools) as well as AC. It is so cheap to run the swamp cooler, like I have two for my house and it adds maybe 15 bucks to my electric bill and maybe 10 to my water bill when I’m running them 24/7 in the summer. Palm Desert is too hot to only have the swamp cooler, but since it’s an Airbnb you can run the swamp cooler when nobody is there and it’s a cheap way to take the house down 20 or 30 degrees and protect the electronics and wood on the inside. Plus then the AC doesn’t have to work as hard to get the house down to a comfortable temp for guests.
sad to hear about your main channel :( I love the variety of your content and actually share a ton of your interests (EVs, tech, finance, etc). Gotta do what’s best though!
I hear you re. the algorithm, but I think this is an issue of relatability during a cost of living crisis. Travel is becoming unaffordable and expensive gadgets are unimportant in a recession. My watching habits have changed in recent months due to relatability issues. I know I wouldn't watch a channel exclusively about Airbnbs/vacation properties because travel is not in my budget right now (let alone overpriced stays that I've never been able to afford). Just my opinion, but possibly something for you to consider.
I found your main channel via your rental videos on what you can get if you pay an x amount, but I love all your content and the variety of content, because we get to learn about a variety of things, from housing, cars, tech, etc. I guess to me, your channel has been a lifestyle channel rather than one specific niche. Either way, I enjoy the content you make, you work hard, and I would hate to see you refrain from making videos for your channel on topics you enjoy.
The last 2 videos I watched on your main channel was the A frame and the Van life video- must go have a look at the rest. I 100% didn't see any of the rest of your main channel videos.
Hey, I think if there was a way to tie together all your interests to one common theme. For example, making a checked in video using one of the electric cars you review, while tracking your health with the ora ring and combining all of that into one video, and then creating three separate videos about the each item. Which is basically what you are already doing, but finding a way to tie all of them together would be awesome. I think that would be binge worthy and for those viewers who are only watching certain pieces of content and not the others may be interested in watching the others because they are peripheral pieces of content related to the main themes (checked in, real estate, and Reno’s) hopefully this makes sense. Awesome content!
Where was the part when Monica reacted to how much the Airbnb lost?? I only heard her thank Shelby for making the video, and then talk about how expensive utilities can be. I am really fed up with clickbait titles and thumbnails!! 😤😡
Would you cut a movie trailer from someone? I use to cut trailers. When I make a short film, I write, direct, edit, and camera work. It's hard to find someone that has the same vision.
Your video style and creativity is always fun to watch! You can still be very diverse and creative with your videos even if you keep within the the real estate/making money niche since you can include your Checked-In episodes, home renno and decor, AirBnB, and other interesting ideas about making money because everyone wants to make money and/or know how much money you or someone made doing something. It's all interesting and your videos are so well done! I can see leaving off content like the car reviews. Your idea to make videos for someone else and split the profits is great! When you do that, put links to those on your vlog channel so we can watch. 😊
The niche hopping confuses me as an audience member! The same thing is probably also happening to other subscribers. I personally like the real estate or travel stuff but I’m not really interested in the tech or car reviews so I will click on one but won’t click on another. Also, I’ve noticed that production quality is better in a niche that you’re more comfortable with (for example your real estate/Airbnb one’s are better quality than the tech reviews).
I actually have a different theory on the algorithm. TH-cam is getting better and better at spidering through content. Like how it will add chapters now. YT is getting better at sending out content that the viewer wants to see. Subscribing to channels doesn't even really make a difference anymore unless you have "all notifications" clicked (which is how I never miss any of your videos). I think things are starting to get a little easier for small channels (like mine) to get views. As long as the quality is there. If there are people out there who are interested in your videos, the content gets pushed to them.
Shelby, would it help to start a separate channel for tech/random videos, if you ever get inspired to make one? Also, tip to save money on those grilled sandwiches - I have a panini maker and it takes my grilled cheese and tuna melts to the next level, and they're ready in just a few minutes! You can get one on Amazon for under $20 - a cheap one will do a great job, no need to go expensive.
I personally like the Airbnb/Reno content more. Especially the more transparent you are with finances, regrets etc. And just personally, I’m probably less likely to watch EV videos or reviews of random products.

I know I wouldn't watch a channel exclusively about Airbnbs/vacation properties because travel is not in my budget right now (let alone overpriced stays that I've never been able to afford). Just my opinion, but possibly something for you to consider.
Now we need Graham to react to it
I found your main channel via your rental videos on what you can get if you pay an x amount, but I love all your content and the variety of content, because we get to learn about a variety of things, from housing, cars, tech, etc.
I hate TH-cam for that Becuase I love the variety you offer it’s different and always interesting
That's too bad that TH-cam basically punishes you for being a well rounded person with different interests
I really like seeing the dog in these videos, lol.
I think the painting looked good there. I would leave it. It is something personal and adds color.
Is it smoke, smog, or just fog rolling in?
i love the minimal look
Shopping for rugs can be so hard
Love you girls 🥰🥰 always good to see you two together 🥰🥰🥰🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Where was the part when Monica reacted to how much the Airbnb lost?? I only heard her thank Shelby for making the video, and then talk about how expensive utilities can be. I am really fed up with clickbait titles and thumbnails!! 😤😡
Would you cut a movie trailer from someone? I use to cut trailers. When I make a short film, I write, direct, edit, and camera work. It's hard to find someone that has the same vision.
Shelby Church 2.0 you sharing how you make the videos for others and sharing your ideas. That would be cool
Save! You can always splurge on something better than lamps 😂 but I love your style. Plus you can always try to do a dupe for it!
I have a 9kw solar system in Las Vegas and it covers my electric bill 100% with my power buy back credits. Previous owner paid 36k in 2016
Why do you have all you lights on. When it is day time?
Your video style and creativity is always fun to watch! You can still be very diverse and creative with your videos even if you keep within the the real estate/making money niche since you can include your Checked-In episodes, home renno and decor, AirBnB, and other interesting ideas about making money because everyone wants to make money and/or know how much money you or someone made doing something. It's all interesting and your videos are so well done! I can see leaving off content like the car reviews. Your idea to make videos for someone else and split the profits is great! When you do that, put links to those on your vlog channel so we can watch. 😊
That thumbnail hahahaha
If there are people out there who are interested in your videos, the content gets pushed to them.
wait shelby, ur painting is great! why u gonna paint over ittt
i cant regconite which one is which before i knew who is monica now im lost haha
