I will be back with regular content, as soon as I get some major projects at work and home done. Hopefully, within the next 8 weeks. Don't you hate when work gets in the way of having fun? :)
Great job sharing this. I have taught a number of kayak anglers and most of them think they will not fall out so it is a big problem when they do, especially if it is cold. Sea Kayakers always know they will tip over so they practice the rescues and it is rarely a problem when they do flip.
Very true. Some of the kayakers that I fish with carry a rescue ladder which helps you get back into the wider fishing kayaks when you fall out or when you flip the kayak. We also carry a paddle float that attaches to the end of your paddle and you place the other end of the paddle wedged under your seat. The gives you a sturdy bar to help you get back into the kayak.
I like the pool noodle + zip ties on your buddy's net. I'm going to have to do that to my net and paddle. Paranoid I'm going to lose one the whole time, especially with kiddo in front be-bopin around (got a tandem fishing Kayak, thanks again for the advice!)
Yes, I also use a pool noodle around my fishing net. I do not have one around my crabbing net since it floats on it's own with the handle up and just out of the water.
Hey Man i miss your videos 2021, where r my kayak crabbing videos you give me inspiration to invest in kayak for crabbing in Savannah Georgia ( Tybee Island), Nobody ive seen doin this here.Come on Man.Lol.Thanks
Great video! But a couple of serious notes - 1- If you have ANY kind of safety-related issue and you have a radio and pal nearby, relay this information clearly and factually to the other person ASAP, and whether you need assistance or not. It's not the time for jokes or obscure comments. Lots of things could have happened here - radio could stop working when it was dropped, he could be drifting into a bad jetty or dangerous inlet, or into the path of fast-moving boats. 2- It's really NOT hard to get back into this type of kayak, but it needs to be PRACTICED at least a couple of times a year. You aren't always going to be near a shore that is safe to swim to, especially in crab-friendly bays where the mud can be several feet deep. I'm sure there are videos somewhere with great instructions, but you just get close to the center of the kayak, put your hands to the closest and deepest corner of the footwell, and kick your feet while pushing yourself onto the kayak, body across the middle. Pull your body face down over the kayak until your butt is inside the rail, then slowly get situated back into your seat.
Thanks for sharing that important info. Yeah, he fell over, but his Go Pro stopped filming while he was in the water. I was not with him on that day it happened. He just wanted to share the video. He finally remembered that he had his paddle float Velcro to the back of his seat for this very occasion. Once he used the paddle float he was able to jump back on the kayak and continued to go after the tasty crustaceans.
Bad setup with Ball.. Better off just Using ball with 1foot of heavy chain tie off however amount of rope you want to it that leads to crab traps and just pull them in one by one
David was just going to swim it to shore since it was only 50 yards He realized the camera was on and shut it off before he climbed back on. He used the paddle float as an outrigger to keep the kayak from rolling . The paddle float are secured to the back of our seats with Velcro. We all have a kayak ladder to help turn the kayak back over and assist getting back on.
Yeah, he has a paddle float that was secured to the back of his seat that he used to get back into the kayak. Too bad his Go Pro stopped, so we never got to see him climb back onboard. He was close to shore when he flipped, so he was in no real danger as you can see. He enjoyed the refreshing water.
Bless you bro long time no see ill be watching 🤠 love your channel 💯

Well that helped me decide I never want to try that! Rigid inflatable if not aluminum!
Yeah, big inflatable markers for your trotline on a kayak is not a good idea. The bullet floats are much better.

Ok my friend, I just posted one. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
great video! what kind of walki talki is this?
I am not sure, but I will find out for you.
Mach - what size anchors do you use? I have 10 lb and 15 lb mushroom ones but thinking the upper end might be overkill for a 1200 ft.
Getting ready for kayak fishing and crabbing after a long hiatus - like 6 years…
I use 10 lb.

Exactly....
Where have you been at haven't seen any Videos in a while
Sorry, work has been keeping me too busy. I hate when that happens. I do have another video coming out in the next day or two....so stay tuned.
I wanted to see just how he got back in the kayak. What if he was about a mile or so, out in the bay?
Glad he’s okay 👌

lol😂
I love "It was refreshing".....LOL
What happens if he flips over in deep water? He must learn to get back in his yak?
The water is refreshing was tooo funny! 😂😂 #Stroke

Rookie mistake.
