The Helicopter pilot saw the plane taking off not the one landing. This is human error and a tragic accident. So sad indeed.

Still, the helicopter went above the 200 feet limit for helicopters. Why go above the limit? This is basic knowledge. It went higher to 350 feet. Why fly on the same altitude as the plane?
Absolutely tragic. She seemed like sweet lovely lady. You truly never know your time at least she was right with God before her passing.
The elevation issue was talked about on the radio with the tower. The chopper was too high. This is completely the fault of the helicopter

Condolences to all families affected by this incident. No words can express such devastation that all these families must be feeling? Everyone has family and friends who travel. We can only pray that in time the pain of losing one's loved one subsides. The initial live video clearly showed the impact from the helicopter into the plane. Investigators will find out the exact reason. Appreciation for all the hard work of all the emergency crews, department leaders and all involved to try and find as many loved ones as possible that are in that frigid water. Keep searching to find them all.

My take on this, as a Rtd Training Capt and Airline Pilot Union rep at regional air accident investigations, I note that only in US is it NORMAL for a military chopper to fly UNDER a plane on FINAL approach. and what if, for many number of reasons the plane drops below the Glide Path.. not smart, eh?

I think the air traffic control,could have been more vigilant in directing pilots their position and call pilots attention if their is something odd,he have the info data on radar screen.
The fudging plane did not crash into the helicopter. The helicopter hit the plane ,sending it crashing and breaking up in 3 pieces
