She sings well, and I would've loved the lyrics if I had never heard the Japanese original. But the original lyrics about a daughter singing to her mom is far too emotional and lovely.
Very nice song! But having understand both the Japanese and Cantonese lyrics.. this one definitely pales. There are feint taint of sadness in Momoe & Shirley's version, but this one, both Marlene's powerful vocal and the sentimental melody are certainly wasted. Blame it on the lyrics perhaps..
