David Lucas was born in Macon, GA. He started acting an early age, performing in numerous stage plays at the Macon Little Theatre. He relocated to Hollywood where he was a contestant on, “MTV Yo Momma”. He has since written for several television shows and continues to perform stand up all over the country (for such comedians as Louis CK, Erik Griffin, Joe Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Tony Hinchcliffe, Bert Kreisher, DL Hughley and many more) He is a regular on Kill Tony. I love the new band - Jeremiah always tried to be the center of attention and often times derailed the show. I do miss the drum-offs cuz Joel is a beast on drums but honestly David definitely called them as he saw them treating them like they were corny

There's a reason that the current iteration of the show is milking the life out of regulars, and doing much less bucket pulls than the golden era: they no longer have 2 (3 on occasions when Croma would come up with a doozy) extra comedic voices to make the most comedy out of a mediocre or poor bucket pull. Nowadays it's all down to Tony to try and make a bucket pull funny or amusing ... Hence the constant regulars, to try and pick up the slack.
Kill Tony has gone fully commercial, fully lowest common denominator, and it's only working because of drunk, low brow morons.
As if that wasn't bad enough, they're starting to sanitise the shows before publishing because TH-cam has been age-restricting their uploads over the last couple months.
But ya ... Tell me more about how the new band are better at playing music, as they're 'supposed to be' ... 🙄

The old band just doesn't seem as good anymore. Unless I'm missing something? Going to watch the full show now.
Blame the producer of the show ... They weren't actually there as a band. The current band was the band. The OG band were simply guests, that you could barely see because the producer had the stage so packed ... Technically 6 guests + ensemble band. Dumb as fuck, as if they were trying not to show the OG band in a positive light.
I think the shows audience has evolved to more of a mainstream comedy feel/casual fan sort of deal
The old band worked well when the show was lower budget and less popular because it added to the aesthetic of a shitshow where the objective is to roast terrible comics
Now the show is so big and the objective is more about the brand as a whole as opposed to being a platform for Tony and others to further practice comedy
They were a little rusty, but did as well as usual. Joel was better than usual this episode, at least compared to his louder, coke-fuels antics in the past.
I think it's a weird mix of too many people on a small stage in a venue that doesn't really mesh with what this show's about. Even Antoine's was a better spot.

Jeremiah and Joel came up with actual good jokes, on the spot ... David pandered to a drunk Texan crowd with 'LA is lame, am I rite gais ?'
I don't completely agree, but no doubt he ran out of steam earlier than usual and didn't bother to write for the band (who did have great roast jokes).
Jeremiah and Joel's jokes were particularly good I thought because they did write them beforehand. They didn't strike me as improv strokes of brilliance.
Not that being scripted makes them less funny.
I get that Jeremiah can be annoying and those who hate improv aren't going to be converted, but I will never understand Kill Tony viewers who "hate the old band". They were so integral to the development of what made this show special and successful.
Austin is a different vibe but that's not why the last show didn't work so well. The feel of Joe's comedy club does not mix with KT.
@@FungusMossGnosis joel's cotton candy joke was possibly pre written, but jeremiah was more obviously riffed / improved as it was mostly in response to things he wouldn't have known david was going to say. At any rate, everyone knew who was going to be on the show that night, so ultimately it still boils down to david relying on cheap pandering vs jeremiah/joel's actual jokes.
They sucked tbh...maybe us texas folk got a better sense of humor 😂

Highlight of this episode, which was kind of a weird one but I liked it overall. They got fairly mean roasting the 7-year vet who had no punchlines.
