Hey cados haven’t been up to date with the videos for a while but I’m getting back up to speed and I’ll tell you what mate you need to get in contact with the AFL about these
As a port supporter I’m not knocking your design, I think as a pure design it’s cool, and I know this is all just a hypothetical anyway but if that were to be a real jumper I don’t think too many of our fans would be pleased with it. We understand the logic behind when people say why don’t port adapt the prison bars to appease Collingwood but as the clubs traditional guernsey many supporters young and old don’t won’t to see that design changed or bastardised. In the same way you said that you don’t like messing around with the home/traditional jumpers, we see the prison bars in that sense. I’m sure Carlton supporters or Essendon supporters for example wouldn’t want to see their traditional jumper bastardised either given the history behind their clubs and their jumpers. Despite originating in a different league port as a club has that history and tradition behind it as well. Fortunately we have been able to design many new jumpers since we have entered the afl (some absolute shockers in there) and I personally love our current home and clash jumpers as a perfect blend of old (with the traditional number panel on the back) and new with the chevron/V design. Having said that though, we still want to see our tradition be recognised and have our unique status as the only traditional, suburban interstate club to achieve elevation into the AFL honoured on the national stage. The perfect way to do that is to wear an unmodified prison bar jumper at least once every season (the club is pushing for both showdowns but I think at this stage most port fans would be happy if we at least can wear them in our home showdown). Quite frankly, I know I’m obviously biased towards port, but I don’t see how that is a controversial sentiment, the majority of crows fans I know don’t care what we wear and they’re the only other club affected by it because we are actually playing against them! This has turned out to be much longer than I thought it would but just wanted to re-affirm that I definitely don’t hate your design itself! I just wanted to give a port supporters perspective on an issue that I don’t think many people outside SA have that much of an understanding of!
