I was one of the people that got sick from chlorine exposure at this place. For whatever reason they were putting significantly more chlorine in the water then what was necessary. You could smell it from the parking lot before even entering. We were only in the water park area maybe an hour and had to leave because I was so sick. My eyes and skin were burning so bad and I couldn’t stop throwing up. I’ve never been sick like that before. This place definitely had potential for being awesome, but whoever was running it had no idea what they were doing.

I worked here when it first opened. It pretty much went downhill the day it opened. You were looking for the stairwells to the hotel floors, the door is actually outside the hotel. They emptied to the outside, which was an issue with guests. Kids would go down the stairs, in their bathing suits, in the middle of winter, not knowing they exited outside. Then to get back in, you needed a room key card, which most kids did not have. Working there provided me with so many stories.

Great Wolf of Kalahari could definately get those slides working again, especially since the Sandusky Great Wolf is desperately missing that star attraction. I may not be the biggest fan of the intended theme (then again, I ride coasters almost uncritically so I'll admit to being a hypocrite there) but I'd spend a night here for the spookiness of staying in an abandoned hotel factor. If you want to do urbex together sometime, I'd be happy to meet up.

Soo sad seeing these types of places close up and become abandoned. Kind of surprised to see power on in part of the complex. Judging by the look of the place the water park could be cleaned up, resolve the hotel issues and make a whole new place out of it. 59:00 wonder if the smell was from the water damage from the pipe bursting up on one of the top floors. If so, that's quite a few floors worth of damage.

Never got a chance to go, but there are other places in Ohio similar that have been open forever and never had issues like this. I can't believe how incredible it is inside the water park. Insanely clean for being abandoned for years...and the owners are pure trash and owe the city way too much money. A guy is trying to buy it so he can turn the hotel into a legitimate affordable housing place. He's done it to many abandoned hotels for years and it works. I hope it goes through because it needs to be revitalized into something good. Thank you for going in and showing it to us. Incredible channel, incredible people. I googled this park, the before pictures that we’re taken are pretty cool to look at.. it was a very neat place, sad to see it went down the way it did .

I went here multiple times as a child and have so many good memories. I know it maybe wasn’t all that clean and what not but it’s the first time I went on the “toilet bowl” side

Dude I've been eyeballing this spot for YEARS, last I tried to get in was 2 years ago and they had fucking motion sensors and security on standby. So happy to see it finally being explored.

Went here a couple times as a kid for birthday parties. Loved this place until I got some kind of flu from the chlorine. I still drive by this place all the time and see the vines growing from the side of the hotel and the busted up windows

I went here a lot when I was a kid with the daycare I went to. I was only about 7 so I was too scared to go down any of the big slides so I only went down the small yellow and blue ones. I do remember the lazy river and deep end pool, I miss this place so much!

Drive past it all the time on I 70. I remember going there for meetings at work. I remember them building the water park addition. It seems that those buildings depreciate after ten years or so, they get sold then the new owners let it go to waste. Don't want to spend the money to maintain it.

Does anyone happen to have a photo from back in the day when the pool (with the saloon background 38:21 in the video) was filled and working???
I have searched every single photo on Google including blogs and their official FB page and cannot find one!
    I’d really appreciate it 💕
    Great video!!!

I worked there back in 2010 doing maintenance. Hotel and water park side!!! Very cool video! Never been back since! Would love to walk around and explore this place empty. Lots of memories, good memories. Didn’t realize how bad it was until 2-3 years after I left and new owner came in. Smh very sad bc ppl lived this place.

I live 2 minutes away from Maui Sands it was nasty from bed bugs to people cutting their legs on the jagged rusty steps inside the water park so we have Great bear/Great wolf lodge & Kalahari Resorts and 1000 other hotels another 1 of the millions of empty buildings. The way things are going maybe you can do a video on the White House.Good video guys keep up the good work.

Cool explore of this water park I can understand why this place closed down when you have also a hotel you need to keep the rooms spotless and clean even the beds etc even the water park would need to be spotless sounds like the management didn’t care having the place spotless clean.
