@DB Darshan Bhatta Buddy, what you are saying is partly right, but with that logic, every other advice is just an opinion. You talk about data fact analysis, again it depends on how big of a data you have, different volume of data may show you different patterns. So at the end, it is always what you feel is optimum, your opinion.
@DB Darshan Bhatta Well, the video was mostly about why college is important. Either I don't understand how what you are saying is related to it, or you are discussing something else. About data, it can't lie, agreed, but it can be miss interpreted. Like there is this notion that college has no value, which I don't agree. And I found data which backs my opinion, theconversation.com/the-myth-of-the-college-dropout-75760 Have a good day :)
I can't agree more, hard work never goes waste, this is what I learnt in my life. Also, education is the most reliant tool to progress to the next step.
You are the best youtuber regarding MS in US....just love your honesty and the way you project the reality of certain topics....will be applying to universities next year for MS....you are that quasar far away who provides inspiration..
I have been following your channel for a while now and believe it or not I was questioning myself with the same thing for the past few days and today you make a video about this. Beautiful explained and let’s say I am back on track. Thanks Parth.
Very rational take on a very divisive question. Agree with your opinions about a college being a chance for rediscovery and doing better, doing differently if you hustle enough.
In IT sector, college is irrelevant ( if you are working in USA and an US resident) I have seen many people becoming managers/ senior level programmers at age of 27-28 only because they didn’t go to college and started working after high school. For international students that’s a different case , college is one of the main ways they can enter US. But still I think if they smart they won’t go for expensive colleges with big brand names , rather they should be going to a reasonable college in good job market area.
Man I can't say thank you enough for making this video. What you mentioned is absolutely true we all are waiting for the one chance but to get that one chance we need to work damn hard.
This is also a nice and informative video. Some time back, I suggested you must continue with these type of videos. You are helping a lot of people. It's a type of investment. You have an asset of many people, who may be willing to help you in case you require, not only for you yourself but even for the people for whom you may appeal. Keep it up dear.
College matters because it's not about curriculum or education system it is the feelings what you get there the brand name and every other things apart from education.....if you got to tier 1 college then you can't think about lower GPA you automatically study harder when you see other students which are better than you .
The steps you have explained about the Carrer is really helpful for me.. Thanks Parth sir ..I'm from India ..I'm planning to study abroad it was really helpful sir thank you so much
Okay honestly I wanna say this is one of the few videos in my 11 yrs of using TH-cam which actually has any substance to it as much as it claims. ( There are many other videos which are quite overrated !) I really like your channel ! & I only found it today. But I am gonna subscribe it . Thanks Senior !
Stop self rejection! Aahh man i really needed that...i am a mechanical engineer who is aspiring to become a Data Scientist/Analyst and everyday I am self rejecting myself that I will never be as good as CS graduates!
College is obviously never required, that's so true. The real point is only when you are bound to timelines(semester, exams, job searching), result comes. It goes without saying a highly dedicated person don't need college due to this reason.
I absolutely love that you're talking about this. I have personally always felt education is important for some people it is there path in life so why look down upon that! I'm a literature student, studying at a great university in the US has been a dream but I'm bummed about the money thing. Could you delve into that a bit more please? It's gonna be soooo helpful. Like, is there no way to access that level of education for humanities kids?
USA is different than India, you can dropout in US but not in India due to Large population and high competition. So please get educated well and at least survive with some jobs.
College matters because it enriches your understanding and knowledge base. By it’s nature it makes you a more competitive and attractive option within the job market once you achieve your degree or diploma.
For masters in US, should we give preference to college or course? Because i did a mistake giving preference to the course than college in my under-graduation.
i am a high school student but, still i think giving preference to course (interest ) will be better option for me than preferening collage ( tag ). in which course will be not of my interest.
Course takes up a higher value, a college with multiple faculties and labs designated to just your course is an absolute boost and allows you opportunities to make contacts. Obviously, only good colleges with have these facilities available, so there's where your college choice comes in. Naturally speaking, it's a trade-off. But your course is predominantly more important.
This is I have applied to universities in the US to discover myself and get out of my comfort zone to try new things. I hope some university gives me an admit.
Yeah college definetly matters. Coming from a non-urban part of India, my exposure to everything at NIT Trichy - students, teachers, clubs etc. opened up the world in a greater sense for me. I have been working from a reputed MNC for 2 years now and planning to go to US for my masters.
When will you do next QnA session ? I have some questions regarding MS in US in field of Civil Engineering and I know we have same background so it will be very helpful.
I'm with you, in my opinion college gives you 2 things: 1. Degree itself 2. Like minded people or u can say better group of friends. Who have achieved better than u. Who pushes u to do something more. Tbh it depends what level of college u deserves whether Harvard or hululu college 📚
Hey Parth, I recently got an admit from Purdue in civil engineering.. I was so happy.. I started connecting people on linkedin in the same program and asking about job opportunities but they are telling me that the only problem of Purdue is the location and there are not much construction companies and everything which is really making me confused and I don't know what to do.. it would be great if you could give me some advice.
Still didnt get the point you were trying prove about why college matters. If you are trying to mean that you get to meet new people, you get opportunities where you can test yourself challange yourself for your betterment then its ok but still it doesn't mean "college" is the only path to succeed. Ultimately first priority of people is to get a good pay and with college definitely you get a kickstart in this but in most cases people don't even get jobs. When you are just trying to get good grades and dont invest time in other things or other skills you kind of get yourself in a do or die situation. So I wont say college does not matter but this is not the only option. It does give you a lot of advantages but if you are stuck in just getting good grades and getting into a great college then you are just calling danger for yourself.
The 'one' exam we talk about that doesn't define the future is one of probably 100 exams. Of course, 99 other exams together define future. But we misunderstand this by assuming that exams don't matter.
Please Parth can we have someone from someone from UBC, U of T or U waterloo to just have a comparision between US and Canadian edu, By the way love your videos...
Absolutely correct, College matter a lot because a good institution provide such a nice environment or atmosphere and culture so anyone can adapt easily and make change in his/her life, and I love your last suggestions that is outperform in every semester so that you become better version of yourself. 🥰👍
You say University or college matter right? But I have a question I want to do masters in unmanned and autonomous engineering this course is offered by only Embry riddle aeronautical ,it is not great in ranking and in my case it's the only option although I can try to get into Ohio State University which offers aerospace engineering and that will be totally different from what I want to learn So what should I do, should go for ranking or course offered and curriculum???
I am a 2018 civil engg passout (74.8% )from a state afiliated private university GGSIPU , what are my chances to become a Construction manager or research at NIH? I have also sent you a request for your invaluable mentorship on linkedin, by the name shantanu chauhan.
College matter The only reason why we say college doesn't matter is self satisfaction . It's a type of excuse which we make when we failed to achieve something.
I agree!!! Excellent advice!
Wow.. Nice to see you here Yudi. 😃
