Because of their attributes. You put a defensive guy with Reaves and he’ll thrive because he won’t exert energy on defending the tough assignment. When it was him and DLo as starters, Austin had to cover the tough assignments and we know Reaves isn’t the best defender out there so a Reddish pairing was a great adjustment and the 2nd unit can have DLo running point while Gabe gets the tough assignment. Great adjustment just by switching 1 guy out of the starting lineup.
Multiple reasons for that, reddish takes a lot of his him unlike D’lo who adds to it Bron reaves got good chemistry just like Bron D’lo but reaves ability to score at all levels makes his pairing with bron more versatile, and obviously more ball handling and scoring load which he is comfortable with when his legs are not dead being the main poa defender

That made Reddish step up and D Lo prove something. I think Knecht and D Lo from the bench could be lethal and let AR have more of the ball because when D Lo is on he is hogging it and he's not a better ball handler than AR but D Lo is probably overall a better shooter so coming off the bench getting 15-20 is massive.
