When it's hot, we open a window at each end of the house, causing a breeze through the building. It never gets as hot here as it gets over there.

Waste Disposal Units are pretty much illegal in UK/EU.
We seperaste & sort our waste, generally, into Paper/Card, containers (mainly plastic & metal) , Gardening waste, general non-recyclable, Glass, & food/kitchen (for digestion/compost) l - I have two bins, two bags & two boxes.
we tend to use stand-alone electric fans in the summer to cool off your sweat!!!

Waste disposal units are now illegal in Wales, Scotland and NI _(in BOTH commercial and domestic kitchens)..._ This is for major environmental 'impact' issues: They increase sewer blockages, cause problems at water treatment plants and increase household water usage dramatically. 'FOG' _(Fats, Oils and Grease)_ DISPOSAL is a major problem in keeping pipes and sewers running free and causes massive expenditure, which increase everyones annual bills 'across the board'. Before 31st March 2026, any organization generating food waste _(affecting most hospitals, hotels, restaurants, prisons, military barracks, universities, schools and many other catering establishments),_ will have to have removed _(or stopped using),_ any macerating equipment _(waste disposal units),_ throughout England. It is likely that domestic units will be banned in the future.

european houses are smaller due to the climate that surrounds us. the rooms are easier to heat when small. Electrics sockets, you'll find it almost impossible to pull the plug out by accident or just fall out.

What do we do when it gets hot? Generally it doesn't get hot and it's generally warmer inside than outside, so we open a window and let the cool air in. On those rare occasions when it is super super hot outside - normally one or two days a year if we're very lucky - we do what you do when the AC breaks - we fry!

When it's hot, I put the fan on. It's free standing, not on the ceiling, so I can put it away in the winter. England is usually either mild weather or chilly anyway and would only get as hot as Florida occasionally.

I have an American style fridge/freezer with filtered water and crushed or cubed ice dispenser it is plumbed into the water mains, we change the water filter every 5 months. I brought it in 2001 (it was on sale £846) so its now 23 years old we had to take out the door and the door frame to get it into our utility room its so wide and deep! the water & ice dispenser has had a lot of use over the years my own 4 children loved the water dispenser and having ice on tap,. Now my grandchildren love it, especially my 5 grandsons who are sports mad they come with their team mates before going to football training to fill up their water bottles lol. I don't know how much longer it will last though it was definitely worth the money.
We also have ceiling fan lights in the living room, dining room and 2 of our 3 bedrooms put in around the same year we got the fridge as we were renovating at the time I got the Idea for fanlights from a neighbour who had them. Air con would have been expensive to install and run for the few days we have warm weather in the UK. We call apartments flats, because everything is on the same level so Flat

So, when it's hot here we use fans to try and keep cool. AC isn't installed in houses as it isn't hot enough here to justify their use. We'd only really use them for about a few weeks at most and that's it.
Washer-dryer combo: I have one. It's a washing machine and dryer in one. I put my washing in for however long I need to and I also set the drying cycle so it automatically dries the clothes immediately after washing.

@@USACULTURESHOCK another factor is the age of the housing stock, most are not suitable for air con units to be fitted throughout, my home is a 1950’s ex-council house and I had it rewired ( the previous owner had the wiring done with chock boxes instead of junction boxes) it the electricians 2 days to chisel out the walls for the new wiring as all the walls are brick built.

You can get a washer/dryer in the UK. Tends to he if there is enough space for one aplience. Lots of people have separate. The washer/dryer appliance is a 'condenser dryer'. It takes the water out the air of the dryer. You end up with a reservoir of water in a container. You have to empty this. Ones with a hose instead dry better.

Front loading Washer/Dryer, yes we have those over here. Let's see.. You can search for them to look at from places like Currys PC World to see what they look like. Saves space as the machine will wash cycle and then go into a drying cycle while water taken from clothes is pumped out the same way into the drain. They're not as efficient as a seperate dryer though and do take a bit longer. Plus you can't put another lload of washing in until said drying cycle has finished.
Our kitchens here can be very small with no other place to put said items so we learned to compact things to be smaller and do more than one task pretty much.

Fans - it’s rarely over 84 here - don’t need it. It doesn’t get very hot and definitely not humid hot.

You can get combined washer dryers but they’re not very good and don’t dry the clothes as well. You would select the wash program and when that finishes select a drying program.

    • @reluctantheist5224
      @reluctantheist5224 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

If you wanted the drying to be efficient you had to load the washing to just a little less than the maximum drying load.. Least that was my experience. Or you could take half your wash load out, dry the remaining load then some hours later take that out and put the first load you took out back in to dry.

The U.K. has very few mosquitoes, wasps or other stinging insects and bugs so in the summer we open the windows and use large portable fans to stay cool as ceiling fans are almost unheard of here.
Only the larger U.K. homes have walk in closets, the average house will have wooden or plastic wardrobes that you buy from a furniture store or from the dreaded flat pack shop like IKEA.
The great majority of British homes don’t have a utility or laundry room due to lack of space so the washer/ drier combo makes sense for us and washing machines tend to be situated in the kitchen under worktops as there’s no other option in our small living spaces.

I think it would be cool to do some more British sport reactions on the channel. You should watch a video called 17 biggest football rivalries in English football. It gives you an idea of the level that rivalries and sport get to over here. It is our life. and there are a bunch of other stuff you could watch like highlights and stuff. If that stuff isn't what interests you then that is more than fine, you can react to whatever you like. You might even like to create a second channel for it if you like. But yeah, just a suggestion.
