The story of Geb and Nut also have similarities with the Māori cultures belief all the way in the southern hemisphere (indigenous people of New Zealand) where the gods Ranginui and Papatuanuku being forcefully separated by their kids as they were trapped in between. After the separation happened Ranginui became the heavens and Papatuanuku became the ground earth. It is also said as Papatuanuku’s lets out a sad sigh we get misty days and well the rainy days are from Ranginui’s sad cries. Great and interesting vid!
Great comparison! 🌍 It’s fascinating how Egyptian myths focus on order and balance, while Mesopotamian stories embrace conflict and chaos. The contrast between Osiris and Ereshkigal really highlights their unique views on the afterlife. Do you think these differences reflect the way each civilization viewed life and death?
Great breakdown. I read that the reason both myths are so different was due to their respective river systems. The Nile was very predictable for the most part to the point ancient Egyptians knew when it was the right time to grow crops and when it would flood, which was why their mythology was very orderly based. On the other hand, the Tigris and Euphrates were unpredictable and would cause major damages to the city-states, which is why their mythology was full of chaos and disaster.
Yeah I think that's a great observation. Especially when you compare the Mesopotamian flood myth where the rivers caused great calamity which was probably influenced by their fears and past experiences, in contrast to the Egyptians peaceful life in Aaru which reflected the life they lived by the Nile. Thanks for watching!
Imagine an video game where you take the Egyptian journey to the afterlife, if nobody do it I will have to

Great video idea, do more! Canaanite and Greco-Roman or Hinduism and Zoroastrianism perhaps.
Ra's battle with Apep as quantum superposition.Every morning we wake up to the observation of existence itself, the quantum weirdness has been broken.
I have to wonder if Atum and Amun are really one in the same - or is Amun purely the cosmic force after the sun sets to be Ra in the evening.
