Room is scarce in The Netherlands. So the only way of not building upwards is to plant houses close together. Sixty percent of our houses are row houses, so being able to have a detached house is to use a small footprint aka close together.
Almost choked on the "hour from Amsterdam". They are located in s'Hertogenbosch, which is the other end of the country (not even Holland province). So sad that the Netherlands is only seen as Amsterdam and "everything around it".
Btw, yesterday I was in Amsterdam and it reminded me that there is no place like the country side.. I never want to live in Amsterdam and it's definitely not as beautiful as other cities/villages in the Netherlands
It's actually more like 1.5 to 2 hours outside of Amsterdam ;) And it's pronounced 'boll-whoh-ning-un'. Butchered the name incredibly hard hahaha ;) Oh and by the way, these houses are completely inconvenient to live in as they require rounded furniture. Try fitting your IKEA closet against the wall, I dare you!
@Jake L i spose its more difficult for those living on a particular budget, dont like searching overly hard for round furniture. Who knows. These should be built for like two ppl tops.
Long Zhang we know its art. But this is architecture and form follows function. A round house? inefficient and creates several no-use spaces due to its curves
I'm more interested in knowing their overall energy efficiency and heating/cooling technologies. How are maintenance costs, surface repairs, etc. (replacement of round windows?) faring over time?
You guys really need to look into *Venus Project* and Jaques Fresco his designs in 80s and now are way ahead of it's time. He's a futurist and people should know about his legacy.
Oh didn’t know we had those. Needed to check the description box, because I couldn’t understand the name. Please practise pronunciation a bit more. Thank you so much. 🙏🏽✨
How great would it actually be to look out the porthole windows at the top just to see the surfaces of other white spherical domes? It would be better siting to have large leafy trees in between the units and to position their windows accordingly.
Hmmm. When I hear Den Bosche I always think of their most popular dessert, the Bossche Bol which are very large round cream puffs/profiteroles covered in chocolate. Now this. Cool. 👍
I would like to see more the details of the house section. Ex. How and what type of staircase is used for this golf like house design? So there is no definite pathway and vehicular access for this housing development? How to determine the boundary of the lot for each unit? How to establish the security for each house? Sleeping area at the ground floor while living space at the 3rd floor, it is not an ideal transition for the functional behavior of the ordinary user... 😭 Lot of question for this short interesting video for this entitled futuristic housing approach.
Having recently viewed the extraordinary damage done to parts of FL and Puerto Rico by tremendous hurricanes, I look at these spheres and wonder how they would survive. All I can picture is the mass of them rolling around and bumping into each other like billiard balls. Yikes!
Looks like a *nice student apartment :-)*

jelmervd2l you mean away from Amsterdam
Woops, yea
They don’t measure in kilometers or miles but in “how far is it away from A’dam smh😂😓

My square Windows suck!!
And most of the time, the only view out of your window is….your neighbor’s window.
why does it look like otamatones in the thumbnail?
Just thought of that
this is what happens when you throw away yout otamatone... it keep on growing in the wild.
This is how people from the 1950's envisioned homes from the 2020's would be like.
Yes
This is true.
They kinda look like the round part of an Otomatone

What are the quality of the houses? Are they comfortable and efficient? Could they please show us the inside more than a couple seconds worth?
I honestly want to stay in one of these homes.
Absolutely gorgeous
Not only do we have sphere-shaped homes, we have angled cube-shaped homes too!
Nice
Awesome! I live half a mile away from these homes!
I need a longer video 😍
Wow! Soo eco friendly but how can someone live in there without the constant urge to look into your neighbors windows haha
The big windows are placed away from each other, so you can never look inside someone else's house (well almost).
I'm Dutch and I had to put on subtitles to hear what she said in Dutch.
My dad lived there when he was mid twenty
Just got one hell yeah
I had no idea we have these in our country
So cool and forward thinking 😊

Please show the kitchen- dining area.
