Thanks to PTX and Todrick Hall I can never hear this song without expecting the singer to suddenly break out with "Shatter every window." There is always a momentary disconnect when it doesn't happen.
The group version is amazing, but when I hear Kirstie sing this solo, it truly brings tears to my eyes. She was BORN to sing this song. There are four brilliant versions of this song: Judy Garland's masterpiece original, the version by the late great Hawaiian singer Bruddah Iz (just him and a ukulele), the PTX version and Kirstie's solo version.
Not only did I stay to the end, I watched this three different times since you uploaded it today. This song always reminds me of my mother. I've been feeling her spirit presence around me all day, and when I see that you chose this song to react to today, I knew it was not a coincidence. I have not heard this from Pentatonix, and it was fun to watch and listen with your excitement and superior analysis of the harmonies. What joy you bring! Hilarious when you had to leave the room! And touching the way you notice the details of the parts that make the whole song special. Thanks my friend! I needed this one today! 💗
Not only did I stay to the end while you geeked out.. lol. I stayed to the end again!! A year later. Love Pentatonix, and you're reactions to them. Old and new. (I'll always be an Avi fan. And his new stuff hits me in the heart).
The melodic lines through those ii V I changes are awesome... and then those substitution changes are incredible! Beautiful deceptive cadence at the ending phrase capped by that Maj9th chord!
I will forever deeply love the "IZ" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (yep, I googled his whole name, not gonna lie) version of Somewhere over the Rainbow. Forever. But the PTX version is pure beauty, it cleanse soul and put you into absolute calmness, immediate relieve. I love how you talked about almost everything they did separatedly, describing what's going on. I really appreciate that as I never could get it all without you. Shout out to the #QoFyGang
Enjoyed the class 😆 I didn't even know PTX did this song until I saw your video pop up on my feed, so THANK YOU! It seems very few reactors have done this song... and one just said how simple it was, that it was good but nothing "crazy". I think they need to go to the Qofy class 🤣
that was very educational🤯! thank you teacher😁! These people👽👽👽👽👽 never stop ,when I think I can take a breath, because whatever they do leaves me breathless, they start again😱.
Wonderful reaction as always. You bring such joy to our world. Thank you. You get hundreds of requests I know but would love for you to hear Shoshana Bean and Scott Hoying do her song All to Me. The arrangement is one of the best I have ever heard for featuring their amazing talents. There is so much going on I would love for you to analyze it. You may have done it on a livestream but if so I missed it. ❤😊
Really enjoyed your reaction. There are a few reactors who bring a particular skillset and perspective to the table and those are the ones that I appreciate, even when I lose a half hour out of my day to do it. Have you heard the incredibly beautiful, often imitated, never duplicated version by Eva Cassidy live at Blues Alley? I think Kirstin has although the influence was subtle. Tragically she died of cancer before she became famous after a British radio DJ discovered her and played her songs. It's here if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/2rd8VktT8xY/w-d-xo.html
Please react to Tomi P‘s newest song: Hellfire! He just released it today! It has more bass in it than you‘ll ever need!!! This song will blow your socks off!!! And I think we are all still waiting for your reaction to Marcello‘s Bass singer subharmonic compilation!
You know we love it when you geek out on the parts! Although I do think you get Kevin wrong sometimes. He does NOT sing baritone, and his chest voice is higher than Mitch's. I wish we could see the audio songs live, so we could figure it out. There is another Kirstie solo that I love from that time period. She sang the National Anthem (with no accompaniment!) at a basketball game, and killed it. Here's a link : th-cam.com/video/isLPXjcQiws/w-d-xo.html PTX also sang the National Anthem for a sports event, and you could do a comparison. Here's the link to that: th-cam.com/video/PCNUWX-FNxk/w-d-xo.html (you will definitely get your geek on for the PTX one)
Yeah that’s not a reason for him to not sing baritone Scott is a tenor yet he sings bass sometimes. This is a 5 part harmony and I hear what they all do 1,2,3 tenors are already taken and then you have the bass Then you hear a 4th or baritone in it. And since Im very familiar with how their voices sound it’s easier for me to point out most of the time that’s how I know Kevin does baritone sometimes
@@QofyReacts Got you. Still don't agree. In all the 5 part songs Kevin sings with them - Run to You, Mary Did You Know, Can't Help Falling in Love, he is always singing a higher part. You can't compare his range with Scott's. But I guess I'll have to wait until I see them sing this live. You might be right, but I'll wait and see.
... ugly stuff ... ewww..😂. Great reaction, as always. Please react to Angelina Jordan "I put a spell on you". It's a black and white video. She is insanely talented and definitely worth watching.

I can't understand how you separate the parts! It's so cool to be able to do that👌
Another kirstin shocker is pentatonix seasons of love
Yes, Seasons of Love is amazing!
Yes please!! There are not enough reactions to that song
Will check it out
I love love watching the unadulterated joy you get from this!!!!
Avi's higher register in this at times is so amazing
Very much enjoyed my science class today!! 🤓
Haha thank you

Wow I’m glad you enjoyed it that much
I enjoyed your reaction. Thanks for the 2fer. The PTX rendition was amazingly beautiful.
This is one of my bass stim songs for a reason... Avi's bass is just too gorgeous here
They don't stop which is why we love them!!
So true

On Wednesday night 2/10/21 on SyFy channel during Resident Alien they used Avi Kaplan's song Change on the Rise during the program. It was awesome 😎.
That’s sick!!
Avi wrote that Change on the Rise was picked up as Resident Alien's theme music.
The melodic lines through those ii V I changes are awesome... and then those substitution changes are incredible! Beautiful deceptive cadence at the ending phrase capped by that Maj9th chord!
Yes ! The expert put much better than I could
Most don't react to this when there is no video but it's beautiful.
Genius vocal arrangement and layering. And those minor chords! How can five voices possibly do this?!
Brilliant haha qofy left the room again 🤣🤣 great reaction 😊
Couldn’t stay
@@QofyReacts haha 😂

DISSONANCE DONE RIGHT!!!! I always love your reactions and the breakdown of the parts!!!!!!
It would be interesting to hear just Avi's track for this song.
I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE SO FRICKIN' BADLY 😭
Layer by layer by layer sounds like an orchestra
Really does !
love. Love. LOVE! The song as well as the reaction 😉
Glad you enjoy it Risa

Not a worry I’ll check it out one day
Kirstin is amazing, but if you wanna get shocked you defiantly should react to ptx seasons of love, I'm begging you 😢
I will do soon
How is it possible that a 3 minute video becomes 25 hahaha
Im just a fan
@@QofyReacts good for you QoFy!
I really like this, Pentatonix is amazing. I’m excited to hear what you think of Elena Shaddows version
Will check it out
You should continue watching VoicePlays ACA top 10:s! They’re really good. Especially because they’re recorded live!
Will do
This reaction was pure entertainment! 🤗🤣

I know I am alone but I prefer Kirstin alone to the full group. So much is going on I kind of lose the lyrics.
