The Big 12 could really be proactive staying ahead of future alignment, and cementing themselves as the 3rd Mega Conference no matter what. Poach Wazzu, OR State & Boise State from the fledgling Pac 12 and UConn, Memphis, Tulane, & USF. Set up divisions, make a creative tournament style championship game and get ready to take in some of the potential ACC leftovers when it implodes (think Pitt & Lousiville). Finally, name change- something that reflects the new look of the conference, maybe with a corporate sponsor. The All State Conference maybe?

The SEC does have a minimal exit fee. No GOR last I heard. Don't get excited about those current 22 pluses, likely mostly Big 12 fans instead of Sooner fans. The Big 12 cannot stop crying because Oklahoma left. Just one bad season with an HC that never had head coaching experience when Okie hired him. Just have another not ready for the SEC coach just like Lincoln Riley. SEC money will probably hold Oklahoma. If not, I will never miss Oklahoma like these Big 12 fans.

There are so many things I could list here but I will just mention this. I have to turn the sound off on the games because the announcers are cheer leaders for the other team throughout the game. They want WVU to lose so bad. EVEN GAMES IN MORGANTOWN!!! The cameras are on the other team 90 percent of the time. What happened was Nick Saban. If Nick Stays in the NFL, we aren’t even having this conversation.

Speaking of ESPN, regarding the "Mike Leach Closet Thing", it wasn't true. In court, Adam James testified he was told to go to a media room where he was supposed to hang out because James claimed he had a concussion and was standing around on the sidelines wearing sunglasses. James then thought it would be funny to film a video (his words) of him being "locked in a closet". Which his father then hired a PR agency to smear leach with the intent to get him fired.
All of this came out during the defamation suit Leach filed vs James, ESPN, and Tech. The James family at best exaggerated the situation, at worst lied.

But this is what's most upsetting, guy was slandered, shouted from every ESPN show because that's where Craig James worked at the time, and when it was found out to be false everyone shut up and slinked away.
If James was right, he'd still be at ESPN.
Further context is that prior to the '08 season Hance and co wanted Leach gone, but they felt like they had to extend him due to that season. When this came up they jumped on it, and ultimately fired Leach for not admitting fault, and then for suing Tech (which is illegal under Texas law, you can't fire a public employee for suing their employer).
Additionally, Leach won the suit against Tech, but they refused to pay due to state institutions having "sovereign immunity".

17:47 If there is one area the Big 12 is screwing up in, it's the yearly rivalries department.
    Utah vs. BYU
    Arizona vs. Arizona State
    Kansas State vs. Kansas
    Baylor vs. TCU
That's it! Half of the schools have no yearly rivalry! This is what it should be:

Cincinnati vs. West Virginia vs. Central Florida
    Oklahoma State vs. Central Florida
    Arizona vs. Oklahoma State
Three yearly rivalries (without having to wait forever to play the remaining 12 schools) per school.
Other conferences are also screwing up too. Louisville, Georgia Tech and SANDUSKY U. have NO yearly rivalries!

The Big 12 would keep quite if they had a quality media rights deal on the table, regardless of the SEC bias. If you're tring to sell the idea that the Big 12 is making some principaled stand, then you should reconsider. Obviously ESPN has minimized the teams they are dealing with and they aren't going to over pay for teams that only generate local interest. This is why they forced Texas and OU's hand. I really don't think Texas had any real desire to play in the SEC. The SEC has made attempts for Texas and OU in the past, but Texas refused those offers until now, I'm sure ESPN had a role to play in making this happen.

The Big 12 needs to remember they tried to lock the B1G and Pac 12 out of conference championship games and the BCS playoff. The Big 12 sided with the SEC in the attempt to totally run college football. The NCAA, after not allowing the Pac 10 or B1G to have a conference championship because they didn't have a 12 team league, overturned that rule after the Big 12 dropped below 12 teams. The SEC will suffer loss with NIL, portal, and CFP expansion. Fair competition is all the B1G ever wanted but the SEC, Big 12 and the ACC made that impossible.

The Big 12 desperately needs a competitive media rights deal and that wasn't on the ESPN radar.
I'm a Texas fan, but I still really love the Big 12. I think we all know how this will end, there will be a league. I really hope that original Big 12 teams become the Western conference of the SEC along with Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and LSU...... The I'd love to see the Big 10 absorb the former Pac 12 schools and create a Wesrern conference along with Washington, UCLA, USC, and Oregon. Let the SEC have Florida State, North Carolina, NC State, Clemson and Virginia (New territory) ----- Let the Big 10 have Miami, Duke, Virginia Tech, SMU and Georgia Tech..... This isn't a perfect idea, I'm just saying that I hope these great teams are included in whatever BS these big wigs have in mind for college football.
