  • In this video I go over how to market your photography through instagram. So rather than trying to gain followers, this video focuses on how to gain clients, which are two very different things.

    You are one of the few real photographer on the internet that makes money selling his photographs and not his workshops! I totally agree, having millions of followers who wont never be your clients is useless! Posting something that represent who you are in person and how you work is a great idea too!

    In the beginning, I was completely disappointed by the IG numbers and slow grow. After a while, I have noticed I got views from the important players in the industry, that they are using my IG as part of their daily routine. I have started to get likes and follow by people I am interested in working with...
    I started to considered that if you are serious in your job, and not searching for just some easy money on IG, not the number of people following matters, but the quality and importance of your followers.
    Great video as always. Thank you for keeping me sane at the start of the road.

    Your videos are really helpful; I like this, you look at Instagram in its simplicity, it's a connection, a place to showcase both sides of ourselves. I've never really embraced social media as a "social thing" - I remember the days when we'd go out and meet people to make contacts. This topic, how to make contacts is often neglected in all the how to do something articles and videos; the toughest thing in marketing is creating a starting point for conversation/ negotiation, and that is beginning a dialogue with a potential client - the big question is , how to meet new potential clients on a regular basis in a world hell bent on putting everything we do online? Great, helpful videos, tons of honesty and straightforward advice. Cheers.

    Hi Scott, thanks for your perspective! I fully agree on using instagram as a portfolio. How do you use it to attract ad agents? Is it using hashtags or what? I'm happy with my current photography skills and look, but I am having a hard time "breaking into the business" and getting my first paying client. Thanks again!

    Great suggestions. Also, utilize hashtags too, just to widen your reachability. So many clients and people follow hashtags (#blackandwhite #photo, etc). It all helps.

    Spot on about the followers numbers. Engagement and who actually follows you is more important. That being said, how did you go about gathering art directors and art buyers?

    • @TinHouseStudioUK
      @TinHouseStudioUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I knew, I would do more of it haha. I think its just constantly posting until people start talking about you.

    • @dutzu8221

      @@TinHouseStudioUK I also think there is a bit of a domino effect. As you actually work with this people, you might connect with them on insta and as they are connected with other art directors, your content is more likely to be shown to them as well. And I guess the hashtags you use are important as well. In any case, thank you for your videos! Really appreciate that you share your experience with us.

    Hey, I am wanting to start my own product photography business and I'm setting up my studio at home. I was wondering what is the best way to get the products sent over from the client? Are they added in the price or do they send them over and you send them back? Much appreciated for any help!😊

    Every time I come across a premiere video and it says premieres in 6 or in this case 19 hours, I get the urge to unfollow. You see a title and thumbnail that shows you something you might want to check out and watch, then when you click and can’t watch... Just upload the damn damn video. Or if you do a premier, make it like 30 minutes to an hour.

    • @TinHouseStudioUK
      @TinHouseStudioUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is, if I just upload it when it is ready, no one sees it. There are very specific windows on youtube when it is worth uploading content and the impact of not following this is huge. I've also tried just having it randomly appear at that time without saying premier, but I also only get about half the people seeing my video this way. So adding it as a premier from the moment I have time to upload to when it will play seems to please the most people most of the time.
