    Hi, as mentioned before, your videos are very well made and instructions are clear ( the best I've seen by far ).Thank you. Question : would you recommend pre washing and ironing the fabric beforehand to address shrinkage ?

    • @ucsolutionsgivingmore

      Thank you very much for your comment. Great question! When possible I say yes, only after; A TEST IS DONE WITH A SMALL PIECE FRIST TO ENSURE, color fastness, durability and heavy fraying on the ends. (If it fails, I would not wash the rest). Some fabrics will continue to shrink even after several washes. Depending on the yardage of fabric you need for the project this can be done in a home machine. You might need to cut the fabric in smaller sizes (as few as possible) so the machine is not over loaded. It can be a big task with the ironing, but many of our clients always prewash and say it's worth the extra work. We have told clients for years to dry clean but I understand the convenience of dropping the cover into a machine. Thanks again for viewing. All the best.

    I really appreciate your videos! I am in the process of making a cover for a wing chair using your videos for guidance. One question ... there is a 3” addition for the tuck-in along the side of the inside back and the seat where they attach to the inside wing and inside arm. When you cut out the inside wing and inside arm however, you only add a 2” tuck-in along the edges which will be sewn to the back and seat. Should these tuck-ins be 3” also, so that they match the inside back and seat allowances?

      Hey there Lin, sorry it’s taken so long to answer your question I’ve been extremely busy. You might’ve already moved on this project and I’m sure it turned out great. But in case you haven’t finished it that’s just an estimate the tuck in 3 inches. A lot of furniture sometimes vary on the amount of tuck in you can use. Too much can get bulky, too little it doesn’t hold it in place as well as it could. You can push your scissors into the tucking area pull it out and see how deep it is and use that as your measurements. I hope this has helped you, and I really appreciate you watching the videos, if you have any more questions please let me know. All the best, Paul

    I was wondering how much fabric you used for this chair? It looks like a very similar size to mine and it would give me a good idea. Thank you so much for your wonderful video! Lifesaver.

      Kit Cowger Thank you for watching. The average wing chair takes 5-6 yards in a solid fabric with no skirt (most wing chair don't have a skirt). If you need to match a pattern 7 1/2 yards should cover it. Sorry for the delay in response we've been very busy in the shop. All the best and thanks for the comment. Paul

    Thank you for your great videos! What brand electric fabric cutter do you recommend?

    • @ucsolutionsgivingmore
      @ucsolutionsgivingmore  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      M. Coulter Great question. I have had a few cutters, I've even returned one before. The wheels on the base where to small difficult to navigate. The best cutter to me was a used industrial Wolf cutter. I believe it was made for manufacturers, made for cutting many, many layers of fabrics. I used it for cutting foam. Down side the motor was very big and heavy making it to me risky. But slicing through foam brilliant! I still use it sometimes. But I found a pretty good deal on a Bosch foam cutter, they can be pricey, but it does a good job light easy to work with. It does not glide through the foam as well as the Wolf does, yet feels a lot safer. Bosch is an industry leader blades are sold separately and they come in different sizes. What ever you buy ask about the return policy. Hope this helped and let us know how your project turns out if you like. Many thanks.
      Cheers,
      Paul
