      Your father was a great man as well as a great singer! I wish I had gotten to know him more when I was at Indiana University!

      Hi Dave, I used to play for your father for rehearsals in his apartment on Harthauserstrasse in Munich in the early 1980's. I had finished my masters in accompanying at the University of Illinois in 1981 with John Wustman. Your father so kindly offered to connect me with the opera house in Munich, but I thanked him and turned down his gracious offer with the reason that "my German is not good enough yet." I, of course, loved playing for your father with his gorgeous, huge voice! Was so fun to play "Love Went a Riding" for him. I also enjoyed the apple pie his wife made.

    This is the only clip I know of James King speaking (and singing) in his native language. The extensive August Everding interview is conducted in German.
