Hi, Johnie! I've done one puzzle from this company, and it was challenging! It was also a New Yorker cover (Tag Sale). I love the image, but it was really tricky! It's an image of a dog selling his belongings on a stoop (SO cute), but it became blurry to my eyes when I was working on it. I would do another one, but not any time soon. They're also on the pricier size, so there's that too. I've subscribed to the NY magazine over the years, and I love their covers, but I never imagined they'd make such challenging puzzles. Have a great Christmas!!🎄🎄🎄
@beh4846 I am going to dig it out and try it again, it sat on my table for 2 weeks my daughter walked by and goes it's time you haven't found a piece in days lol lol I just did "To the Sea" it was darling and fun ..random cuts are hard
White Mountain have some really great images. I've only done one 500 piece of that brand. Their 1000 piece ones are a bit too big for my board, 24" x 30" or 61cms x 76cms. The one you did looked great when completed but all that red was no doubt difficult and the dark bits. Have a great Christmas and New Year.
Thanks so much! Happy Holidays to you too. You are right, the White Mountain looks bigger than I thought, I started earlier today. Oh well, we'll see how it goes haha!
I have done 2 New York Puzzle Company puzzles both from the Vintage Collection - Oceanograhie and La Danse-Dances both were ribbon cut and loved assembling both of them. I loved the image on the one you did and yes, random cut can be quite the challenge, I just did a Bits And Pieces 1000 pc Magical Forest Holiday and it took me 15 hours. I love the White Mountain brand and am curious to see how you like it! Looking forward to next weeks video. Thank you for sharing Johnie and Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you too! Good to know I'm not the only one who thought random cuts were challenging. Always fun to read from other puzzlers. I started the White Mountain earlier today. So far so good, cant wait to share with you later!
I love the quality of these puzzles, but they are always a challenge to puzzle for me, because of the cut! I have quite a few of them in my collection because of the images! And I enjoy the process of the image coming to completion, though slow going for me.
Well, from reading all the comments, it seems a lot of us found this brand to be more difficult than average! Good to see I'm not the only one! Thanks for sharing :)
Just finished a puzzle brand I have never done before called Aquarius. It was about 75 to 80 percent standard cut and the remaining pieces were random cut. I do a lot of random cuts as I prefer those to add a difficulty factor, but this mixture was harder than I anticipated. Mostly because I was expecting a standard cut and not this hybrid. In a totally random cut, you know you are looking for odd pieces all the time. In this puzzle it also had a lot of same color and shinier than I like. It took me twice as long as I planned. Have you ever heard of this brand? Lastly, thanks for doing so many brands and explaining your strategy each time. I always enjoy that. This was a beautiful puzzle. Looking forward to the next one!
Yes I don't know it you remember the Batman Timeline puzzle I did a while ago, check it out, it was my first and only Aquarius. It was a great puzzle, tricky and weird cutting pattern!! I think I wanna try some of their other timeline puzzles, they have a lot of different ones!
@JigsawJohnie I remember that puzzle yes, but forgot who made it. Will be going back and rewatching for your ever so helpful strategy. I actually don't think I would buy another one unless it was more colorful as mine was just too much of navy blue night sky at the top and bottom too much snowy light blue neither of which had any color variation plus too shiny.
@@alanmittan4651 well I remember the batman one has some fun easy parts. It was a positive experience for me. Multiple sections, white lines to help. It was a good image.
I’ve just received my first New York Puzzle Company puzzle for Christmas. I chose a Vogue cover because my puzzling theme right now is Art Nouveau and Art Deco and they have a lot of Art Deco images. I love random cut so I can’t wait to see if mine will be that. happy holidays🌲
Thank you :) Have a great one too! Thanks for watching. I understand their image selection is different, lot of vintage style stuff. Different from the new colorful stuff out there. So many brands, so many styles.
Thank you for the honest review...I did not care for this image.... I am not a fan of random cut either, I dont mind it in a Dowdle or Cobble Hill..or White Mountain is ok... I like White Mountain images... I am working on another Christmas image Cobble Hill..... Happy Holidays to you!!
Thanks, happy holidays to you too! I only did one Cobble Hill so far, it was a 500 and large pieces. I have a 1000 pieces on my to-do pile. I'll do it later in 2025. Thanks for watching!
I just started the White Mountain 1000 "Christmas Countdown" puzzle. It is a new brand for me too. The pieces are super shiny (good luck on the filming!!!!). The pieces are the standard shapes (not random cut), but it is not grid cut (four corners of each piece touch the corners of the next piece) like Ravensburger or Buffalo. The pieces seem to be high quality, thick cardboard (much better than a brand like a 1000 piece Cobble Hill). There was a fair amount of puzzle dust. I am doing this puzzle on black (black foam boards taped together) since there was so much white. I wished that I had paid more attention to the image. The edge of the puzzle is basically red with white/black lines, and I had several false fit problems already. I am looking forward to your video to see what you think of this puzzle!
I’ve completed one “New Yorker” puzzle. The loose fitting pieces along with the random cut made it a real struggle for me. Not my favorite. But, I like the image in the puzzle you’ve shared.
Thanks for the comment, everyone seems to agree that this brand is more difficult than others, it's not just you and me. I read a multiple comments about the difficulty now!
I’ve done 4 or 5 New York Puzzle Co puzzles and they are challenging. I agree that the piece shape to fit the space in question is not always what you think it is. My major problem with this company is some of the artwork isn’t sharp. Maybe the picture was done with soft color pencils or pastels? I prefer a sharp detailed image.
Also maybe it was a smaller image that got resized so it lost quality in the process, could be something like that. Still was a fun puzzle but I understand what you mean. Like blurry sometimes maybe?
Can't go wrong with Ravensburger. That's the brand I used the most this year because of the 500 pieces championship puzzles and the circle of colors. After Ravensburger, some of my most memorable of 2024 were Yazz, Magnolia, Cloudberries and Enjoy. Hard to chose just 1 haha
Oh wow, I have been tempted to get some of this brand. What a great topic! Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Happy holidays! Seen a lot of good comments so far on this brand!
Hi, Jigsaw Johnny. Great puzzle. I started a 500 piece Ravensburger titled "Northern Lights" Merry Christmas, Johnny and everyone!
Thanks, you too! I don't have the Northern Lights one, I have many 500 from Ravensburger. Have fun, thanks for watching!
I've done New York Puzzle Company puzzles. The quality is excellent. That magazine cover was a week after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
So far I only read good comments about the brand, thanks for the comment! It was a fun puzzle!
Grew up on Springbok. I love random cut. Happy Christmas
I did one Springbok random and it was awesome!!! Really different feel!
Now I wish I’d gotten that dog puzzle from them … Great video!
If you like random cuts, I think they are all like that...

I had to Google that one haha. Found it, it's on Amazon. Looks like a hard one!! Thanks for sharing :) Have a great Christmas too!!
Oh the Tag sale that’s the one with the dog on the steps…that is the only puzzle I quit on
@@kaytorrence8870 Believe me, I thought about quitting it too. It was tough. but so cute!!
