It is unbelievable that in 2021 we are still discussing discrimination, and still debating what discrimination looks like. My husband and I watched reruns of series that are 20 or 30 years old in 2020 to pass the time during Covid lock down, and it made me sad and disgusted to see that discrimination is one of several topics that those series tried to bring to the forefront of our consciousness back then…and we still haven’t resolved any of them. It isn’t right to pass this on to the next generation (our children, grand kids, nieces, nephews, cousins…). One kind act against discrimination by each of us will get us moving in the right direction. We can do it…we have to do it!

There is an awesome museum in John Day Oregon called Kam Wah Chung where I learned about anti Asian movements from the US. Really a shame how we treat people.

I am living in the US as an Asian because of my job. I now feel I'm not treated like other white people. I smiled and say hello,how are you? to the cashier but she ignored me and she began to talk with a white woman behind me. I know there are many kind people, but these kinds of things make me want to cry. I'd been in the US when I was a child, so this is my second time to live in the US, I really love this country. I wish all people could admire each other. Every human is beautiful.

The part that documentaries never say much about is that the American-born Japanese Americans were forced essentially to walk away from their properties, stores and mortgages. So these were basically lost properties. Quite a financial consequence for these families.

As an American born in California USA with Japanese heritage(mother side from Fukuoka Japan), I do get a lot of discrimination because of it. I’ve got people saying go back to china where I belong, been called disease rat, virus carrier, told that I don’t belong here, and other horrible stuff, i’ve got full on bricks thrown at me not one, not two, but three bricks. I also used to speak full on Japanese before I could read, but I got assaulted because I spoke it, they even say I should be ashamed that I’m Asian, i disagree. Not even schools are safe from this.

actually a black person living in Vietnam said she feels so much safer there then when she was living in the USA, she could roam the streets at night with out having to worry, said she barely felt any racism compare to when she did in the USA

This is not a sophisticated analysis of the situation. It leaves out the economic factors and the challenges of changing demographics. It’s also not fair to resurrect a legal case without presenting both sides of the case.
What makes America great? We acknowledge our mistakes and our less than stellar past openly and we then improve ourselves and rise from it stronger. It is never an easy road and it does not happen overnight due to forces always acting on the dark side.
Sometimes the news feels like an advertisement. Why perpetuate a negative point of view? If there is a problem, just address the people who are the problem and the authority responsible for protecting the victims. Hate crime becomes propaganda instead of a way to prevent hate crimes.

It is unbelievable that in 2021 we are still discussing discrimination, and still debating what discrimination looks like. My husband and I watched reruns of series that are 20 or 30 years old in 2020 to pass the time during Covid lock down, and it made me sad and disgusted to see that discrimination is one of several topics that those series tried to bring to the forefront of our consciousness back then…and we still haven’t resolved any of them. It isn’t right to pass this on to the next generation (our children, grand kids, nieces, nephews, cousins…). One kind act against discrimination by each of us will get us moving in the right direction. We can do it…we have to do it!

When they say Asians, they're referring to the East Asians. The East Asian countries. such as Japan, China, North and south Korea, VIetnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines. Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Mongolia.
The West Asian countries such as Syria, Iran , Turkey, Armenia and others are Caucasoid/ Caucasian people and have nothing in common with the East Asians as far as features and genes goes. Asia is the biggest continent. Once again East Asians are different than the West Asians. People really need to study geography.

South East Asians are also related to East Asians they share common ancestry and Filipinos and Indonesians are also classified as Asians the same as VIetnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Koreans.

On April 19, 2020, when questioned on why President Trump did not warn Americans about the virus sooner, Jiang was told to "just relax" and to "keep your voice down".
On May 11, 2020, Jiang questioned why there was an emphasis on competitively comparing coronavirus testing, President Trump responded "Don't ask me. Ask China that question." Jiang responded "Sir, why are you saying that to me, specifically?" to which Trump replied "I am not saying it specifically to anybody. I am saying it to anybody who would ask a nasty question like that." Trump abruptly left the press conference soon after this interaction as CNN White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins was turned down from asking her question.

I don’t condone racism of any kind, but I do find it a bit hypocritical of Asians to point out the Anti-Asian racism in America while ignoring the enormous amount of racism directed at foreigners in China, Japan, South Korea, etc. Asian countries for the most part have no interest in multiculturalism, have the strictest immigration laws to keep their respective countries “pure”, and are intolerant of foreigners joining their communities, especially a family member marrying a foreigner. Look up biracial couples on TH-cam who discuss how their Asian parents disowned them for marrying a foreigner. I know America is imperfect but many Asian countries are far worse when it comes to race relations. For the most part, we’ve opened our arms and granted citizenship to tens of millions of Asian immigrants, the same cannot be said of their homelands. So before getting angry at this country, think about how a foreigner would feel in your country of origin.
This is deflection and whataboutism. You are only attempting to discredit your opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument. The immigrants of Asian ethnicity in the United States are United States citizens who have no connection or any loyalty whatsoever to any of the governments or their policies in Asian countries. And they were forced to leave their country out of danger for their lives. Your underlying message is that the United States is somehow less racist than other countries and that nothing should be done. The problem is in your backyard. Do not point out the conditions in your neighbor's backyard are worse and that it makes your backyard any better.

Hello, I am a white american who has always has a curiosity of what life is like in East Asia ( China/Hong Kong especially ). Can you explain why you moved there despite the rampant propaganda against against the Chinese government? I am asking this because Because I have plans to study in an east asian nation, and eventually get rid of my American citizenship, as I Feel isolated in my home of Alaska, and I have nothing to do but work until I consider myself ready. Im an ABC of Hong Kong & China direct descent. Hong Kong from my understanding has changed since it went back to China. Agreed. The history of Chinese people and Well White American people is um- well let’s just say rocky- - - but with the right people it does get better (speaking from experience)

This is not a sophisticated analysis of the situation. It leaves out the economic factors and the challenges of changing demographics. It’s also not fair to resurrect a legal case without presenting both sides of the case.
What makes America great? We acknowledge our mistakes and our less than stellar past openly and we then improve ourselves and rise from it stronger. It is never an easy road and it does not happen overnight due to forces always acting on the dark side.
