    Beautiful! This is exactly the pattern I was looking for. I was thinking of using Kraft Tex paper fabric, but I am really liking the way the cork fabric looks. Love the idea of using landscape fabric too - its a sturdy fabric that I never thought of using in sewing before! Thanks for a great video... off to buy the pattern now :-)

    It was awesome seeing you use landscaping fabric! I had the idea to use landscaping fabric in sewing projects a couple of years ago when I realized that it’s the same stuff that’s on the underside of couches and such. The technical name for it is polypropylene, and I want to mention that polypropylene doesn’t like heat. If you touch it with a lighter it’ll melt like cotton candy when it gets wet, haha.

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been using it for about 5 years now! It’s so versatile! And I found out the hard way that it melts like that 🤣🥴

    I rarely ever use checks and learned when I made an NCW and screwed up the back - I put a patch over the screw-up and found I use that patch all the time to quickly stuff cash or credit cards. what might you suggest as a way to make a couple of card slots on the outside back? I have the tall wallet pattern. haven't made it yet but hopefully this week. watching your other videos and may purchase one of your wallet patterns. I do have cork. thought I'd use scraps that I have to make something. just to see how it sews.
    not for sale - just for family and/or friends. but if I got good at it, then I might reconsider since I always get asked to make NCW wallets but don't think I'm good enough.

    • @SewGnar

    I'm a little late to this party but love how this wallet is coming together so far. In the video you attach the card slot panels to the lining, then attach the lining to the outer. In the pattern I have, it says to attach the lining to the outer first, then add the card slots to the lining. Does it make a difference which sequence you use or did you find after trial and error, one is better over the other? Also.. can a rectangle of quilting cotton be used as a coin pouch lining as to not cause wear and tear on the outer body backing? Thanks so much!! Great video..great pattern!!

    • @SewGnar

    Howdy! Sew, props to Lauren .. "lets just sew whatever"🥰, for sharing your awesomeness. And I'll never take offense if some of those things aren't avail. Im blessed and thankful🤗🧵💞🧶
    Oh my question hahaaa, is there a possibility you can share how to / you cut this pattern out without the brother and do it by hand? If it's already avail and I missed that in the vid lineup, my apologies for wasting precious sew'n time😁 I'm believing for a cool tool such as that but until then I can't waste materials and the slots with there lil holes 🤔 liiiiike to get them right in In my understanding. So I know I'll not have a cool pattern setting about looking at me like grl please! Lol ok I'll 🤐saying thanks bunches for all your doing and sharing, God Bless 🤩

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can use an xacto knife or a rotary cutter or scissors, you don't need anything fancy to make this pattern. The little holes at the end of my card slots are from my radial hole punch. Easy!

  • @irenezewski
    @irenezewski 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay so the first ribbon for card slots, the pattern says cut at 38.5" but that's not enough. I hate having to stitch another piece or ribbon on with just one slot to go, can you please tell me the correct length to cut the ribbon. The pattern says cut the second ribbon at 26", is that the correct size on the second one?

    Thank you for showing us this video. You did a wonderful job of explaining the process. Where would I purchase the black fabric that you were using for the card slots? Also, I'm concern about using the acto knife for making my card slots. How accurate would it be to use? Is there something else that a person could use? I can't afford the Brother Cut machine. I did purchase the pattern, but I am intimidated by cutting the card slots.

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got my black fabric at a garden store. For the card slot lines, you just need to cut them at the width shown on the pattern. If you can use scissors for that, go for it! I just found it easy to uses the Xacto knife which is why I put that in the instructions.

      I get my needles from my LQS and from Fabric Funhouse. I’m not sure why they don’t fit, what machine are you using? Usually you have to swivel the needle around until the flat edge lays in the right spot, or at least that’s what I do!

    did you cut the slots with your S&C? I have a cricut maker. could I use that? I typically use Silhouette software, but I'd need to know sizes to make sure I have them accurate. silhouette to cricut rarely works. the sizes come in differently. I don't have the scan and cut machine and don't have a silhouette cameo. I can only cut using my cricut maker. thanks for helping. I just bought another one of your patterns but haven't looked at it yet to see if I can cut that one using my cricut maker. (Triskele) . that one appears to have the sizes of the pieces but doesn't have the SVG files to cut it. but I should be able to create svg's with the sizes?
