    The most important part of a slap shot is where the stick hits the ice. How could you not address this? This is main problem for beginners. They don’t understand that you load the shaft by striking the ice behind the puck.

    good stuff, a good video to teach every hidden part behind the slap shot and what increases and decreases your power. thanks bro, wouldn't you hit the ice before the puck tho and even apply more flex before the stick hits the puck

    Nice video!! Thanks!! I was having issues with my front skate position. You don't mention but notice how it shifts from start position (parallel to the other skate), and
    turns to end up perpendicular (pointing towards target). We also teach follow through- pointing the stick in the direction of the target. Thanks again!!

    One thing they forgot and it is a key in the slap shot is to keep your skates facing the net unless you are taking a one timer if you and if you are taking a one timer keep your hips parallel to the net

    I couldn't get the slapshot down when watching this video.
    A local player at a S&P showed me his technique and maybe it'll work for newer players.
    The hand placement for me is almost a foot and a half from the top of the heel (way further apart). And you get LOW LOW. Hit the puck with the blade closed, at the tip-- and let 'er rip.
    Got really good results immediately.

    I had to watch this at work on mute and I have to say what a long video just to see that all you have to do is load up with contact on the ice flexing the stick before it contacts the puck. Good thing for fast forward.

    does it works with wooden stick?

    • @mnkeeper0611
      @mnkeeper0611 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should... there might not be as much power because wooden sticks tend to be stiffer than other types of sticks. There won’t be that flex the he was talking about in the video but if you hit it hard enough, you should be able to generate some power :)

    Looks like he bent his right arm just a bit early

  • @llIIIIlllIIIllI
    @llIIIIlllIIIllI 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    look at how early he pulls his top hand (right arm) in towards his body. I'm no expert, but I think that prevents him from utilizing the full force of the fulcrum created with his lower (left) hand. I would think he should be pulling his right arm in while he's pushing through the shot with his left arm and flexing the stick on the ice.

    • @acidj4zz
      @acidj4zz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to say the same thing. Right arm should be out a bit more to get more flex in his stick. His back swing is also way too high, but the narrator addresses that.

    • @CoachJeremy
      @CoachJeremy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      acidj4zz You will find a straight up and down backswing is common when time allows it for maximum power, going anything past that will over-extend the body though. Here is a good slow-mo of Patrick Kane to give an example Patrick Kane in Slow Motion it gets more power, but takes away time

    • @CoachJeremy
      @CoachJeremy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll find Patrick Kane follows a similar path in this video. Patrick Kane in Slow Motion

    I think HOCKEY is still way behind golf. Watch Matt's lead arm collapse/bend as he comes into impact. Tremendous loss of power right there. More work needs to be done in the analysis of the slapshot. This cannot be correct. Also he leads with his head, relaxing the biomechanical bow of the body. Another loss of power.

    • @michaelreiche2240
      @michaelreiche2240 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "I think HOCKEY is still way behind golf. Watch Matt's lead arm collapse/bend as he comes into impact. "
      A golf swing does not work in hockey. I tell that to every six year-old. The puck is 3.6 times the weight of a golf ball, the stick is twice the length of a club and the head of the hockey stick is not weighted like a driver.
