Abarth got 1.4L so do many similar cars in this category and it does a great job.
But some are not reliable, Audi is one of them. Audi are good at the 5cyl & 2.0L which is very good.

Good for city driving, but other than that too slow, far slower than a GTI with 200bhp, Probably due to displacement, as expected.
Back in 2002 my first car was an Opel Vectra 2.5 V6 170hp. It was faster than this little crap to 100 and had far better top end.
I just find that kind of funny tbh. Especially when this is tuned, has supercharger + turbocharger, and more power and less weight 🤭

Most cars put their power down in different ways than other cars and can't be judged just by the hp numbers
If you guys would read, then you wouldve noticed that the car is stock, obviously since its not producing great numbers for the claimed power. read the pinned comment. For 185hp this is good.

I know because I still own one and I would take it anyday over the laggy 2.0
Power is not everything and if you have kept your car stock you will never see its true potential.
Have you driven one? I’ve had the arse out on mine a few times in the wet. Has a weight transfer to the front on liftoff. Very fun drive and smokes almost anything in its class. Can even punch above it’s weight when you get get it right.
Honestly, I drive an A1 with a stage 1 tune (also 210hp) and stage 2 s-tronic and I cannot believe this is the same car. It sounds pretty dull in the video and it seems slow, but driving it is absolute fun and with my custom exhaust (not straight piped though) the experience is better too. I'm very happy to see this car and more affordable cars in general on this channel but the video does not portray the character of the car well at all.
@@robertm2864 100% Cameras don't do justice to the sound of a car. I have a Polo GTI with a Decat and Res Delete and it sounds glorious!!!
I think one has to own and mod a 1.4TSI to experience the true character of this motor.
@@jackshoots5312 That sounds cool man. Jumping between the 1.4tsi and the 1.6 expboost a few years ago, the 1.4 picks up better but I just feel that the 1.6 can get work done. Especially once it’s modded.
I currently have a revo stage 2 MK8 fiesta ST sitting at 265bhp and 425nm at 2,200rpm. Running 13.8 seconds 100-200 on dragy. This just seems way slower like? I dunno?
I keep up with golf R’s and all 2.0 VAG engines. Cupra Atteca etc. til about 125 then they have the advantage of the extra horses.
As for handling, the mk8 has a sublime sense of connection. Purposeful lift off oversteer and with the PS4’s and Diff, a sense of being on rails everywhere!

I got it too and its currently at 160‘000km on the clock not a single thing broke in the last 10 years 😂 still pulling 210 horsepower and still driving like a breeze, dont smacktalk if you dont have the experience to back it up with facts
(btw: ABT power Kit, HG intake and full exhaust system plus numerous suspension mods)
A bit slow with 210hp i have the same engine only in a skoda fabia vrs saloon stage 1+ with 217hp on the dyno and my time with dragy is 0-100 6.2 sec and 100-200 18 sec
Depends on how you measure it. The speedometer reached 200 kmh 8 sec sooner than the app which could make a huge difference on a 100 to 200 time with that kind of power range.

@@rhd2220 I am afraid, that engine is gone, like so much of the 1.4 Twincharger. Most St. 1 go in 15 Sec. from shifting point 4-5 to 5-6. Stock do it in 18 Sec. This one lasts 20 Sec. With a bit of luck the engine is still good and only the wastegate do not close completely.
@@rhd2220 There are lots of things that we need to have in mind while measuring acceleration times. Weather, temperatures, tire compound, tire pressure, wind speed and so on. For example, let's talk about ambient temperatures which affect the intake temps. So, when I was on the dyno with my Megane RS 265, it made 276hp when it was about 20 degrees celsius at the dyno, but the other day when it was 8 degrees, it made 282,5hp stock.
My 1.4twin Charger Golf 6 With 160hp does 31sec Full Stock ans with stage 1 20sec with dragy 200hp Manuel no dsg
Shame that the app does not give the time for 1000m. I had the same twincharger engine on my Ibiza tuned @205hp as well. It sounds quite good in comparison with my 2.0 TSI now. I am also disappointed by 100-200 time.
Car is not be tuned, so its actually stock.
After the video I have called the tuning company (JD Engineering) but they said it wasn’t tuned.
2 weeks after the video was taken, 2 of my pistons broke. Rip

It can not. But it is colose. I own a S1 and hat a Fabia VRS with Revo St. 1. bevore. The 1.4 TSI is winner in throttleresponse and smooth reving above 5 rpm. The S1 is winner in punch and traction.
For this A1 i recomend PU Bushings for the rear axle an the torquearm.
S1 is faster it has awd and more power

Character? It sounds like a vacumn, valves open hardly makes a difference and is slow once you get above 100km/h, year real character lol.

It could be competent or serviceable as a powerplant, barring the issues. But to say this engine has character is taking it too far. This ain't no K20, RB6, 2JZ or B58 or something.
@@The_Noticer. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you have never owned & modded a 1.4TSI you can't judge it! No production car has a twincharged engine that I can recall in the last 10 years. Having twincharging is a special experience esspecially when it comes to torque.
Btw the B58 & 2JZ are a totally different class of engine, this is not a conversation of 500hp and above. How can you compare a 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder!? You can't honestly compare cars/engines of totally different classes. Nobody said it was the best engine compared to anything else!
The 1.4 is only for small pocket rockets. A car that normal people can actually afford. Not everyone has money pouring to put into a 2JZ, B58 etc.

Like any other car that has issues. The CTH engines are little better with reliability compared to the first gen CAXA & CAVE motors which were just horrible in reliability
My advice ? Don't consider ANY VAG (VW group) product. Boring, bland, unreliable and designed to fail. Either get something japanese, or any BMW older than the E46 (the latter excluded) if you really want something german.

I got a 1.4 a1 for first car though it’s only 125hp, im in uk and it’s faster than my friends cars. 185 or even the 140 hp is an awful lot for a first car
What a crap engine, too gutless for me. I would never buy a car with a 1.4 turbo lump, the supercharger/turbocharger is doing all the work. That engine must be under some major stress.
And even then, those are hardly doing any lifting, it barely reaches 200kph in the video. That Corolla T sport earlier in the week had 18hp less and it didn't have this much difficulty reaching 220kph. I think it's pulling timing. Second launch was also a lot slower 0-60.

Mein Audi A1 mit dem selben Motor und Leistung siehst besser aus mit Waben Grill und hört sich mit meiner Abgasanlage auch viel besser an. Habe euch vor über 1 Monat angeboten, eine Runde mit dem Wagen zu fahren. Wart leider nicht interessiert. Jetzt sehe ich ein Video von dem selben Wagen nur mit schlechteren Sound und aussehen. Ich frage mich jetzt, was habe ich falsch gemacht, dass ihr nicht meinen genommen habt

It does not. This looks like a stock exhaust with an aftermarket valve. Though it sounds like it only bypasses the resonator or the muffler, not both.

And I was told I couldn't tune my Audi 1.8 litres Quattro sedan😩. Still looking for a place for a proper tuned. Any recommendations guys? I live in Brisbane, Australia
If that is a naturally aspirated engine, then no. A tune isn't going to do anything. NA engines require bolt-ons to breathe better (intake/exhaust) and have less mechanical load (lightweight pulley/fliywheel/pistons/rods), that gives you more power. There might also be a restriction in your gearbox.

@@Infinity_tp depends. Find out which major components you have, see online if they have had success in the past. Especially things like the gearbox, differential, base engine. Though i have to stress that youre likely going to have to religiously change oil, sooner than stated in the book. Also look into catch can replacers for PCV and EGR deletes to reduce the contamination in the cilinder head and oil pan.

@@Infinity_tp The 1.8 does like to use a bit of oil, from what I read. If yours is doing this too, it might be a sign the piston rings are worn. Adding turbo boost probably results in a lot of blow-by and eventually damage. If it doesn't consume oil, it might be in good shape.

What about the DSG Clutch? Does this tune okay for the clutch as DSG clutches are quite breakable when you overuse it
Good point, I could be wrong but when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd, it seemed to me like the clutch had a little slip going on.
@@MrTe450-Hayabusa-No-Limits Yeah man, I've recently replaced my car's DSG Clutch at 150k Km and it is the same setup as this one but mine is stock(Audi A3 1.4TFSI 125 Hp). Those dry clutches are notorious for being broken if you do launches/pulls from first/second gears repeatedly.

A 210 hp car shouldn't struggle that hard to get to 200kph, so it's probably due to the turbo giving out at higher rpm/speed or it's pulling timing. It's what they say, there's no replacement for displacement. Second launch more than half a second slower! Further adding to the suspicion it's pulling timing due to knock/overheating from ragging on it during the course of making the video. Man... they don't build 'em like they used to.
my guess is that the turbo’s slightly out of its efficiency range cause these are only 185hp standard, that and the lack of high end torque from the 1.4 litre

100 to 200 in 28 sec...looks like forever. Before my 2020 Mustang GT, having 200 HP was just wouaa but now, I could not go back to cars not having at least 400 HP. I like the sound of that 4 cyl. tho.
