I really like the modifications you did with the objectives, player order etc. Will try this for sure! Whould move over both tanks to Algeria and artillery to Southern Italy to be picked up next by transports. Three UK fighters in Gibraltar with an airbase is annoying, not building a single surface ship or spreading transports out with that threat.
Hey YG, great series, I love it! I'm a little red-green colorblind though, so is that corrected UKE1 income a purple 25 IPC, blue 10 IPC, and 3 green 1 IPC chips for a total of 38? Shouldn't you be at 36 for the 1 IPC you saved in your Purchase Units phase and the 3 IPCs you lost in the Germans' Canadian convoy raid? Just checking; keep it up mate!
Cool stuff, I am starting to think that maybe the Gibraltar build up is a strategy where you might have a higher ceiling than Taranto but it also can go really poorly. Leaving the Italians with almost a full fleet and London threatened at the same time seems like a worst case scenario. Best case is that they don't pull off the Algeria snake and you can do defend africa and london. Maybe a case of one in the hand or two in the bush... Of course you don't have to scramble the british fighters and they can return to Britain but the airbase can't grow legs and move. Buying 9 infantry but comitting all airpower to Taranto might be enough to cover both bases. Buying infantry covers London and the Taranto raid protects North Africa. I am not passing judgement though. I think Gibraltar still has the higher ceiling as a strategy.
Italy had an O punch of 28 for the first round, but 18 max thereafter. UK had a D punch of 12, with an AA soak. Italy should generally win that battle. Which means the entire German airforce has free reign on the UK fleet. So I'm not keen on the Gibraltar move as you waste 15 IPC on a base you build for the Axis.
@@charlesmichalek3763 I think that the Gibraltar airbase is a good long term buy for the allies. It opens up a lot of possibilities for America to defend it's fleet. The airbase is also permament the axis can't demolish it, and they can't defend gibraltar from America realisticallly. so the IPC's aren't totally wasted. It still forces Germany to send a ton of airpower to land in Algeria, what good can those planes do when they are down there? They can't help against russia or Sealion. They are in no man's land in Algeria, similar to how Britain's planes can get marooned in no man's land. I think the gibraltar build up is interesting, but yeah I've done a 180 on it. Doesn't seem so viable with a strong G1 and 3 fighter buy. I think a strong G-1 fighter buy needs a different counter. Probably just hit taranto and buy 9 infantry to defend london
@@jacksarles235 You say that Gibraltar is for the USA to defend its fleet. But YG put his Japanese Fleet outside Caroline Islands. So if USA goes all in the Atlantic Japan has options in the Pacific. If USA builds in the pacific to counter Japan, then the Gibraltar airbase was just built for the axis.
@@charlesmichalek3869 well the US doesn't need to go " all in" in the Atlantic to use Gibraltar. The US doesn't really need to build hard in the pacific either. If the Japan wants to attack pearl harbor it's really no big deal. Then their fleet is out of position, unless they want to bring troops to take Pearl harbor which means they have one less transport to land troops in the money islands. Japan being aggressive vs the US is a long term strategic mistake. Also the US can always pull back to San Fransico if they feel they really need to. The Axis can not hold Gibraltar for more than a turn or two.
Interesting move onto Algeria. Looking forward to see if the Luftwaffe can finish of the british fleet in the med. Having gone through the moves and countermoves which of the three british opening moves do you like best; Taranto Raid, Rock of Gibraltar or Escape to the Red Sea?
The potential loss of all UK ships in the Med in hands of the Luftwaffe sets up for a turn 2 Italian acvhievement of the first Victory Objective for the Axis.
@@TheCliffsideBunker I’m not going to make a judgment call on which is better. But with the way you rolled the Italians you would have significantly damaged the UK fleet, if not destroyed it altogether. Also if you had purchased a German carrier + 2 transports you could have taken London turn 2 as you pointed out in the video.
So I see that I landed the bomber in Alexandria which is not allowed, I will instead send it back to Southern Italy.
I think everyone, in their heart of heart, is pulling for Italy.
I love the way you explain your moves and strategies. Wish I had at least half your insight. Keep up the good work , its opening up new ideas for all.

Wow! What a IT1. Great rolls
Why are you using Russian 1914 Artillery for Italy?

Malta like algeria is spot where you can feel marooned

@@FernandoCruz-xp7xw Not to mention the loss of fighters sets up London to fall too. That is 2 tokens on G3.
@@charlesmichalek3869 I agree! The G1 purchase of just 1 transport (or 2!) might make the UK1 Rock of Gibraltar strategy very risky.
Couldn’t Italian fighters land in southern France?
You said that IT fighters couldn’t reach the sea zone. But they could move 3 and land in Southern France. So wouldn’t it be 8 units on 8?
Nice call... didn’t see that.
