Coached my kiddos U6 (4v4) team and coached the same squad until U10 (9v9). One they got old enough to tryout for select clubs, a couple players asked if I could train them in the off time. The training sessions turned into training camps and then I got an offer to help coach the local high school team. It’s a lot of fun and it definitely gets more serious the older you get and play with players who want to take it to the next level. Getting in on the ground level and growing with the kids as a coach helped so much
Coached for my first team just by volunteering this past fall for Rec. I loved it. I’m trying working on getting my D license. (All other grassroots courses completed) I’m enjoying the rec league for now because the kids I worked with were awesome, but I want to move into a more competitive setting in the future. And as you mentioned, a mentor is a definite need. My mentor is from France and has been coaching for 25 years all the way up to D1 all the to U4-U6. It’s been a huge difference maker. I’m very blessed and fortunate to have met my mentor before I started coaching.
Perfect video bro at the perfect time..currently coaching at my Rec league been doing it about a year now ..been playing since 3 and played my whole youth and high school so I’m really passionate about it ..working into getting into high school / college soon
Just got offered my dream job to be a head GK coach at a Surf club. Gonna hit the USSF in persons, and GK 1 and 2 diploma upcoming month. Excited to learn a new mindset and travel the west coach attending these courses.
