5:07 Jeffersonian grids are the scars of the early United States lands division. Once they'd acquired all the lands they needed, they plotted the lands from East to West in squares of one mile by one mile, usually laying roads as boundaries. This made easier to distinguish state owned lands vs private property. This is the reason why some American cities feature grids even on unfriendly terrain (San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.)
Some nice looking maps but man something about the CS2 art style and textures feels so... flat and lifeless. Not from a terrain perspective but a texture perspective. It just looks... off.
I definitely agree here. While the camera mode stuff can look fantastic, the actual vanilla gameplay graphics lack character. CS1 is much more charming in its visuals imo. LUTS & textures sorely needed!
The last one with the "janky" map edge: simple, the author never made a "world" map hence the immediate transition to the upside down. For outside connections: just because there are none to start doesn't mean that you can't have them. You just run the relevant path/connection to the playable map edge and they auto-create. So you can have intercity trains if you want, or external shipping lines, or more road connections (not sure about ped connections...) Nice showcase. Hopefully I'll have a map or two to add once the Map Editor gets the next update (and the Extra Detailing stuff calms down)
They need to fix it so that infrastructure and geography and natural features like trees can go all the way to the edge of the visible map. It doesn't mean that they have to make the entire thing playable and I understand why it's not (too computer resource intensive) but it really wrecks immersion to see all these things just stop. Make it like CS1 where everything goes to the edge but you can only build up to a certain point.
Is wind direction an internal game thing or something map makers can decide for themselves? I feel like real wind blows IN from the ocean but many of the maps have it blowing out from the land.
Can you recommend a decent Tropical map? And I don't mean a map with a few palm trees slapped on it, I mean one with a genuine tropical feel and look to it? I looked the other day and they were all just dreadful. I'm looking for one with high detailing like what we get on CS1, or do those maps not exist yet?
It's difficult to make a very realistic looking map without mod dependencies. We are limited by textures (surfaces require better bulldozer to remove) and trees/props can't be too close together (without anarchy). I'm working on a couple tropical maps right now and it's very time consuming. The maps are large so it takes a very long time to create a map with high detail. My first map took approximately 80 hours.
Daybreak, has palm trees, inspired by the Australian east coast. However, the climate is wrong due to a map editor error and is too cold for a tropical map. It’d be a great one to play on once that gets fixed.
When will the agriculture industry finally get actual crops on their field? The huge empty land patches are awful to look at especially the image tile repeating and you can see the corners
How is the performance doing? I kinda zoned out of news for this since the talk of delaying the console release further. Also, can't wait to see the dogsh*t performance of any console, you think it's bad on PC lmao.
One of the reasons is due to the fact that the grass is the wrong color. Humans are naturally known to view trees as being darker or lighter than grass, as that’s how they are in real life, but in CS:2 their color is almost identical or too “uncanny” to be viewed as attractive to the human eyes. We like bright colors, and C:S2 doesn’t have bright colors.
Different depths of water can have different shades of blue. Same thing goes for trees. It portrays real life kinda well. Think before you comment and hating on the game, make it make sense please.
@CallMeInfinite0000 Yes and in CS1 you can see the difference in depth of the water just by the colour. Here? It all looks plastic shiny no matter if its 2m deep or 200. And in real life like you said I never noticed tree changing it's colour or shape while I was looking at it.
@ytth439 Expectations were high, and people were super disappointed. I get it. But people aren't going to give CO a chance because of what happened at the release date and the "DLC." It's been almost a year since then, and you just gotta move past it and just appreciate the game for what it is, despite not being the best. Or just don't play the game.
@CallMeInfinite0000 I don't play it. I have made a pre order. They changed requirements half way through and although my system meets the minimum requirements I get 15fps max.

I agree. It feels like flat gray and flat deep green is the only colours. The sea is the sea. But on land… just looks dated.
IMO they overreacted to comments about CS1 looking cartoonish by making CS2 samey and drab. Just had to tone it down rather than making it so bland.

Not Egg, but monorails are loud, unrealistic for most cities, and limited by their track pieces (more than trams). So I recommend trams every time.

Do you remember unmodded CS1? It was like a cartoon. CS2 has mods to change the lighting and colours which allow you to adjust it to your liking.
