    It’s all creepy and weird how easy it is to get ppl’s property records, bdays, family members, etc. It’s almost like stalking is encouraged.

      Spot on. The stalker often spies and reveals personal information about a victim that he or she had not been told. Creepy indeed.

      Well yeah I mean it makes no sense. They should be able to intervene and stop,them! As a teen, my friends and I got stopped by the law before doing legal things. How can they not see someone getting all this tech and info to track someone and not stop this people? Lord Jesus h effing Christ!

      All they have to do is hack your phone to see your personal info such as social security & bank info. They can see all of your contacts to secretly engage with & know where you work at to recruit them into stalking you too. If you get a new home they can intice the landlord or seller to access your home with spy cams before your move in date. It's not hard when your whole life is on your phone

    rejected narcissists and stalkers will say and do whatever it takes to justify their toddler behavior and they will never take responsibility for their childish actions. They will continue to lie, deny and exploit their target/victim relentlessly. There is no end, because they will reappear into your life years later to taunt you again.

      It's scary when your stalker is a 'Political Asylum' in the US, has a criminal record in the US, and is heavily protected by local government and silly public attorneys.

    It's not discussed enough about Platonic friendships that end and one becomes a stalker. I befriended someone and later in the friendship started seeing signs of narcissism ( grandiose, competition, jealousy, negative comments, negative attitude, fake nice, exploitative, etc) . By the time I put it together she was employed at my work and slandering my name to my coworkers. She lives in my neighborhood so when I went no contact she would just drive down the street I live on several times a day glaring at my kids and me. Once I confronted her In a public place she started calling and texting from different numbers and went from sounding nice on the voice mail to threatening in the next. I didn't respond to either then she threatened to have a restraining order placed on me . As old as I am I haven't ever met anyone like this. I haven't spoken to her In 2 years and plan to keep it that way. I will take this as she was the rejected/ resented stalker.

      I just ended a recent friendship with someone who I met on Plenty of Fish. He told me about this woman who he knew who he got serious about and said she was his girlfriend. However, her sister was super jealous of the relationship and tried to sabotage it. He told me the ex-girlfriend's name and told me that I can see her profile on Facebook. I decided to check this story out. When I told him that I messaged her but she didn't respond to me yet he seemed to be fine with it. He told me that they were on good terms now.
      I figured that she didn't go on Facebook much since she wasn't responding so I thought about sending a message to her husband to let her know that I messaged her and wanted to ask her about someone she used to know. Her husband said that I could ask him about it, so I did. His first two words to me was "Stay away". I asked what's up with him? He asked how I knew that my friend (at the time) knew his wife I said that he told me. The husband told me that the former friend was charged with stalking and that he never dated his wife. I also saw a scathing Facebook post on the former friend's page, before I reached out to the husband, about how much of an evil person this woman's sister was towards him and how she landed him in jail. How she was the reason why he was having problems with women.
      When I chatted with the former friend, he was starting to change details about his story. He told me that he never wanted me to talk with the woman who he claimed was his ex-girlfriend. He also said to me that he never had a romantic interest in me that it was just friendship. I told him that I couldn't take him seriously like that anyway because he and I differed on Politics and Religious beliefs. I blocked him on social media and on my phone when he texted me. I told him that I would call the police if he harassed me. Then sometime later he leaves a voice message saying that I opened a can of worms for him with the local police where that lady lives, how they are harassing him and opened an investigation on him. He told me that I have to call them and straighten the whole thing out, tell them that it's all a big mistake and that's it.
      I blocked the number that he used to call me. Haven't heard from him again so far. I had questions about his state of mind even before all of this happened. Someone else who knew him briefly even told me that they were unsure if he was dealing with a full deck.

    My stalker has learning difficulties but knows exactly what he's doing. It's strange the way most people pick up on his bad vibes / intimidation, whilst others continue to believe he's harmless (inc the police). The fact that he has no boundaries, empathy or self-awareness doesn't seem to count for anything in their eyes.

    • @TherapistTamaraHill

      This is so hard. I'm sorry this is happening to you. When you mix in mental illness, under-development, or learning disabilities the police and others in this group can't conceptualize these individuals know exactly what they are doing in SOME cases.

    • @ajo7009
      @ajo7009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      As someone with learning difficulties myself, I'm going to tell you, do not let someone's disorder or illness be a reason for you not to protect yourself from them. Even people in these kinds of situations need to learn how to take responsibility for their actions. You are not a "human sacrifice" for anyone for any reason. Keep your boundaries strong and tall.

    We need to talk about the narcissist stalker . I have notice the person who is stalking me has NPD and narcissist traits. This is the reason I feel like she can't stop herself from stalking me. She lashes out at anyone I may be dealing with on social media. I am keeping my close relationship very close to my chest to make sure she doesn't harassing the person. She has friended all of my family members on social media. I really can't feel sorry for her anymore. She is a covert stalker always under a fake name or profile .

    It’s ironic to me that if I express a fantasy of how I ideally would like to rid myself of my stalker, I stand a chance of being arrested and thrown behind bars. But my stalker can harass me and my loved ones and the cops look the other way until these freaks carry out a thought one may have merely had a brief and fleeting fantasy about! 😐 What’s Really Goin’ On????

    • @chriscunningham8807

      Battered wife syndrome was a defence for women who murdered violent partners. Dealing with a stalker or person who does not hear NO is frustrating and can drive a person crazy. Revenge fantasies are common. So is the desire for retaliation if they kept barging into your life and disturbing your peace of mind.

    Stalking is in the eye of the stalked. A stalker never sees themselves as stalkers. They may see themselves as persistent, goal oriented, mission-focused, justice seeking, clever, playful, score settling, or perhaps even vengeful. But stalking? Never. A stalked person knows stalking though. Except when paranoia exists. Sadly some stalked people do become paranoid which muddies the water.

      @@TherapistTamaraHill I do however I don't use the word hope at since that's one of the stalkers name, ceohope/shuantae bellemy. Been going through this for 12yrs and I very tired of this dude. He a cyber-bully/stalker but a very manipulative master manipulator that works for the Government so it's hard to get anyone to stop him. He so bad the he puts the blames on those he calls/pays to do his dirty work for him. I just ask that all be aware and stay far away or if you like that type of dude please feel free to get with him so that he can leave me alone. I don't know how he keeps tracking me but once I find out I will do what's needed to rid myself of it as I have many of my phones he hacked into. My search engines was searching for places I never been or NEVER want to go. My battery on my phone kept going out even though I know for a fact it was just fully charged 15 mins ago. Brand new phones just completely blink out and no one can fix them. Keep changing the amount of payments on my bills the reflect certain #s so I would literally have to pay in whole numbers to keep my NO means No a clear stance. Hacked into my insurance account and Bank account. Soon as I come to a street light the light abruptly changes from Green to Red, I literally have to take back roads to NOT be bothered. Can't listen to my local stations b/c every single time the same 2-3 songs will play so I literally have to listen to very out of the ordinary things to avoid the creep. My vehicle is paid for in full. Soon as I start driving and get to a certain area not too far from my home there's always anywhere from 5 to 10 tow-trucks every single day/time. Before I paid off my vehicle he paid the car-lot owner to start an argument with me, mind you I've NEVER before had any issues with this particular car-lot owner ever. After I paid it off the owner repeatedly told me he had to give me tough love as if he was my parent or something. I was like what?!!?!! Hell NO NEVER AGAIN!!! So I can only imagine all these tow-trucks drivers he's paying off only to keep hear NO I'm NOT Interested at all. These are just a few things. He literally send people to hack and stalk you then claims he had nothing to do with it. He even send other women after a man that you maybe dating or have interest in to try to entice them to hook up with other women so he can then come back and throw it all up in you face via social media continuously as to try to make himself look as if he's the better pick for you, when in fact he's the worst one who's been orchestrating the chaos the whole entire time. They literally stalked you to take your talents from you then portray your talents as if it's something they came up with and made on their own. So now I don't even care to be creative at all. B/c I want to be left alone. STOP sending 33° to my TV screen I DON'T WANT YOU AT ALL. I literally had to reset my TV 5xs b/c this crap keeps popping up loading and stopping at that degree.

      Been there a few times. My sister's best friend from high school became my stalker a few years ago when I declined her sexual overture. I started out as nice but had to block her and tell her harshly to leave me the heck alone. Of course she smeared me with my own family which is fine. If they are going to prioritize a friend over family that shows you the strength of our relationship.

    Some really great information here, thank you!
    I hung out with someone in high school for a couple of years, we both came from dysfunctional families. A few years after high school I moved away to another country; I had also started therapy and recognized how unbalanced that person was. They tried to contact me a few times and I repeatedly stated that I wasn't interested in contact and to leave me alone. Then I went no contact.
    24 years later, their attempts to connect with me continue. At least once, sometimes twice a year; they've tried on various social media sites, by making phone calls, sending letters, and eventually emails to some of my family of origin.
    I changed my name on FB to a fake one so she couldn't find me, and my family of origin knows to not give her any info (it's my original surname that she searches for and as she knew my siblings and parents, she has contacted them). I am not afraid of her...it's just angering and triggering when someone doesn't respect your boundaries (I've had abuse in my early life and respecting boundaries is the trigger for me). It seems she falls partly into the socially inept but also the rejected stalker type. I'm not the first one she's done it too, though I have no idea if she's been bothering those others for so long as well. Thankfully my husband is supportive and while he agrees she isn't dangerous, is still cautious. Given I live halfway across the world, I highly doubt she would ever physically find me. Of course, for some online harrassment is extremely stressful; but I've taken precautions over the years as to not be found.
    Given how long this has been going on, I fully expect it to continue until she dies or (hopefully) gets some therapy. She is very, very unwell.

    I actually understand this a lot more now. Someone (two) keep asking why they were asked to leave me alone after they developed a resentment so this makes so much more sense why they had the entitlement and skill they did. We are still in court but this helps with safety and stablization for myself and some close to me. Thank you endlessly from me and others involved. I was in a college class with a guy who later went crazy in his early 20s and became obsessed with me. I hadn't even spoken or interacted with him during that class. Got a call from his girlfriend saying he had had a dream about his deceased mother telling him we were supposed to be together. Luckily I was in a whole nother state. Had the cops give him a call to let him know I am not playing. 😊 He actually showed up at my parents house, saying he thought I was injured. 😳😳😳 I would say it was a mild case of obsession but not necessarily stalking. Still freaked me out a bit though.

    They persistently/compulsively communicate with their targets (known as “Love Bombing”), they try to learn everything about their targets and spread rumors about them or share their target’s secrets with everyone.
    They will try to send outrageous amounts of money or expensive gifts to their targets (one guy tried to buy me a car, another one tried to lease a penthouse apartment for me for a year).
    They make threats of suicide or even homicide to their targets. It’s a form of control or emotional blackmail. They try to hurt themselves or claim they hurt themselves or tried to commit suicide and they blame their target for that.
    They try to scare the target with shock stories that typically didn’t happen, such as “My whole family has [insert terminal illness here].” Or they try to claim they are doing something glamorous and extravagant to make their target envious. Other times they tell their target that mutual associates said bad things about them behind their backs so their target will distrust them (and often try to tell those same associates that the target spoke ill of them in order to turn them against the target and isolate them).
    They use triangulation to pit other people (known and unknown) against their target, often putting the target in danger from angry strangers or [former] friends by lying and claiming the target said horrible things about or did horrible things to them and as a result make their targets’ lives miserable, online and IRL. They also dox or SWAT their targets, or try to get them falsely committed to a 72 hour psychiatric hold via an anonymous tip to the police, or they make a false anonymous report to DHS for making terrorist threats (a woman in Las Vegas, NV. did this to a neighbor with whom she was feuding).

There is often a mental illness at the core of their behaviors which could also entail stalking. I hope you are able to ensure your safety with cameras, records, etc.

    This is the point. Why should I be getting counselling and PAYING for it when it is someone else's behaviour? Why does the system not find a way allow me to communicate with his counsellor that he needs to move on, move away, deal with his problems in a healthier way.

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point.
      It's HIPAA laws that protects our medical records and the protects the integrity of the work being done by the healthcare provider. Now, if you know the therapist and you are being mistreated, nothing stops you from sending an email or making a phone call to that therapist and leaving a message. The therapist can then decide what, if anything, they will do with this. I am not encouraging this by the way! I am simply saying that when it comes to situations that involves your well-being or safety OR the safety of the person in therapy, the therapist may intercept information but cannot communicate back.

    Very helpful, Doctor. Thank You! Dealing with it is a really tough dance, especially when unsure if the cause/soutce of the behavior is rooted in personality pathology or in a neurodevelopmental condition (ie, ASD), the latter of which, I think, calls for a more careful approach. Yet, boundaries must be respected.

      I like your reasoning on this. There may be a neurodevelopmental component to some of these cases for sure. And individual who is on the autism spectrum may not understand social cues well and push boundaries without thinking twice about the repercussions or how the other person may perceive this (lack of ToM - theory of mind or empathy).

    I think that I’m being stalked by my uni teacher, it’s about 1 year now. I don’t know what to do honestly. It’s not the first time I’m being stalked but this time it’s really really scary. I don’t have any physical evidences because he just follows me and acts creepily only when we’re alone. I talked about that to my closed ones, they either find that romantic, or just say that he doesn’t know how to tell me that he’s interested. That’s really exhausting..
    At this point I even think I’m being crazy, like all of this it’s not even happening..

I only know his first name. He believes we had a relationship. He was able to find out places I go. I was very direct and he got mad and disappeared for a while. However his delusions seem to ebb and flow. And lately he has been trying to find out wear I live. Is this kind of person a potential danger to me? What do I do to protect myself? I should mention everytime he tries to engage with me he looks like he has regressed quite noticeably. Like he is falling apart

      I'm sorry to hear this Imani but glad you are acknowledging it. I find that obsessive behaviors are often fueled by the absence of something on the inside of the person obsessing. When you love someone you don't stalk them. You don't obsess over them unless you feel there is still something there you deserve or you want. That's understandable to a certain extent. But visiting their social media, checking online for their activities, ruminating over them, fantasizing that they will want you back, are all deep seeded issues on the part of the one longing. I can certainly talk about this during this talking series. I will be talking about this next Sunday.

    The (possible?) stalker that I’m dealing with right now, is a workplace. He only comes in when I’m working. He’ll walk around, mostly staring at me. He’s asked if I know when the police routes end. (I live in a smaller town, so there’s not many officers). He’s confronted a coworker of mine and wanted to know if he was my boyfriend.
    He’s asked a different coworker what time he works, day, nights, etc. (I work mostly nights, but it changes). I started wearing a ring, with my boyfriend’s encouragement, and it didn’t deter him. He still will come in and stare. He’s asked my coworker for my number. And when he found the same coworker on a website, he tried to have a very very vulgar conversation with her.
    My mom thinks I’m paranoid and that I should see the whole picture. And that he’s probably not only coming in when I work.

The person, keeps on googling me and seeking other contacts of me and keeps on reaching and getting in touch, while it's obvious I am not replying, the person tried to reach out 3 times in the past 10 months, so it's not like very often, but still annoying, since I want nothing to do with it, I wonder is this also considered stalking?

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rachel, this is also considered stalking for sure. It doesn't matter what you say or don't say, if it is implied that you are not interested then the person should get that. However, there are some individuals who do not understand things that are "implied" and may act based on their own limited understanding. For example, those with autism spectrum disorders may miss those subtle cues. Highly immature and emotionally reactive individuals may also be the same way. If you have to, you can tell them to stop contacting you and if they do, that's grounds to get the law involved.

    • @kimrose80
      @kimrose80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree with just ghosting or blocking someone you had a relationship or friendship with if they haven’t been cruel or abusive to you..
      I’m of the belief that if you want to end a friendship with someone you do it kindly and clearly so there are no misunderstandings and treat the person the way you would want to be treated..even if they have anxious attachment issues like I do..especially then I would say..Ignoring a person like that instead of having a conversation with them will often make things worse for them, not better and send them into extreme depression and then they’ll be more likely to stalk to seek closure and confused about whether you really cared or not 😢
      We can’t just ghost people and then say they should’ve just taken the hint and that they are immature otherwise..
      That is cruel and to me signifies the blocker/ghoster lacks empathy for my feelings and didn’t care about me despite anything they said previously..
      That being said most emotionally healthy people are not going to get to the point of stalking someone who rejected them even like that but a few messages or asking for proper closure would be entirely reasonable..
      I get that it’s uncomfortable for the person who wants to break up or end a friendship to have that discussion with somebody but ending things on good terms if possible and if safety is not an concern, I believe is the right thing to do..I would want that for myself and I would want to give that peace of mind to another..
      I got blocked by someone who had said lovely compliments to me when I got way too emotionally attached to him..
      I am still dealing with the pain of that..
      I feel that he should not have led me on the way he did if he wasn’t feeling it but at the same time i acknowledge I have serious attachment issues..
      I understood he didn’t like me anymore because of my neediness but it would have been a lot easier for me to get over if he’d given me a few minutes of closure and understanding of my feelings..
      And this is why I hate it when people think ghosting or just blocking others without a conversation is ok because I have experienced it first hand and it hurts like hell 😰

    • @kimrose80
      @kimrose80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And Racel, I can’t tell you what to do when it comes to this guy.. but if your safety is not at risk, like Tamara suggested, maybe you can reach out to him to tell him that you’re not interested and that you don’t wish to have further contact but please be kind and wish him well and that your sorry he’s hurting but that you just want this to be over so you both can move on because it’s not good for either of you..
      I think that might actually help him stop messaging you because it will show him you at least value him as a human being and you also then won’t be bothered by him anymore hopefully..
      That’s just my humble opinion..
      Now if this person doesn’t stop after that then you have already done your part and gave clarity in a kind way and then you can get the authorities involved if you need to..
      Actually I see it’s been 11 months since you commented here so maybe he stopped messaging already or you had a conversation with him and it’s not an issue for either of you anymore..

    Guys and girls need to be taught in schools about how to deal gracefully with rejections and move on. I am a guy, i thought I loved a girl deeply, I got rejected after initial meetings. I couldn't move on, it's been 7-8 years. I contacted her two times on social media in these 8 years and got blocked. luckily I was self aware so i stopped myself from stalking her. Us will never happen, and that's the truth. I wish somebody could have taught me this in my early years, i wouldn't have texted her back even those two times. Recently a guy with whom i interacted just once like 8 years back, is texting me with different number cause i blocked him earlier.
    He texted me 2 years back too, i blocked
    him then also. And now I am feeling uncomfortable that how much that person must be obsessed with me to remember for so long. I am also sad that, if my college crush see me again, she might feel uncomfortable because of me. I can't even apologize cause that's again like contacting her(stalking). It's so bad. I really think it should be taught in schools at early-stage to our kids.

    My husband is a therapist and his female client is stalking him and made a claim they were in a sexual relationship to his director and he is now on administrative leave while they investigate. How worried should we be and what can we do about it????

      I'm sorry to hear this. This is so so tough on an innocent therapist. We play such an intimate role with clients that some may push the boundary by lying, manipulating, or lashing out in some fashion.
      I'm happy to offer a consultation if needed. But with the little details I have, I can say that it's best to have really good documentation (progress notes, call logs, comments, beginning and end times of sessions with this client, etc.) as evidence of proper boundary keeping. There's no real way of determining what to expect. Boards make decisions in favor of the client all the time and that's because they serve them and not the therapist. So it really depends. I wish you both the best. Hang in there. This is a tough one I'm sure.

    Like with my ex, they don't really "want" you, and my no to this person did not relate to them as a person, I just knew he was not the type of person I was suited to. I am currently experiencing magnified trauma responses in relation to my exes family, whilst having an OLDER, very tall, but damaged male next door.

    Can a person be a rejected stalker when they are in love with your husband and show up whereever he goes starts working at his work comes into your house unannounced and starts drama by approaching your husband or other family members to cause drama for you(the wife).

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. That's why he/she is doing it! They are rejected and some people want to keep pushing to see if they can "knock down" those walls.

      I once knew a woman who was cyber stalking her ex husband whom she has been divorced from for 25 years and he has been remarried for 23 years. He lived In a different state and her goal was to get to that state and have him tell her to back off in person. He hadn't spoken one word to her since their divorce. She literally had know clue on how relationships worked.

    Thank you for your videos. Not sure if you have covered this form of stalking or if it falls under one of the types you discussed - stalking based on a person's identity. For example, I think i maybe being stalked and harassed based on my perceived ethnicity. Unfortunately, I have to deal with lots of harassing phone calls that call and hangup or sit there heavy breathing etc. There have also been some other things but I don't feel comfortable sharing them publicly. It is very scary. Perhaps, if you haven't yet discussed this form of stalking you could address this topic.

    Ok, I meet a little older female who wants to tell me her stories. I am interested, because she sounds fun. We arrange to meet and I rearrange my weekend. I arrive where I said I would meet her - and yes I was running late. She was not there, but my stalky neighbour who had been hanging around the front letter box was. He and other neighbours were the only people sitting outside at this local pub. I waited and waited for her - I stayed out of the way until they left. She did not turn up. I am still confused - as it is a very small town, whether this was an arranged meeting - him instead of the other person being there - or just a coincidence. I am still upset - as the "tune in" effect, creating a sense as if I should be just moving towards them naturally. AND he is very unattractive to me. I perceive a sense of tune in that should not be there.

    Or, the individual who, when you rejected him, he will threaten that he is “revengeful, ruthless”, he “will get into your jobs” and he will say he “was your lover”😱 which he did. All of these. Nobody believed the victim’s story, they all believed the stalker.

    What would happen if you started getting super clingy to your stalker? Like, annoyingly clingy and desperate? Do you think they would lose interest? Thats my theory, anyway.

    I'm going to say that the numbers are not accurate because I am speaking from experience because my ex wives are stalking me and have law enforcement on their side with gaslighting and using the fact that I had an addiction issue when I was younger and now no one listens to anything I say because I'm just a tweaker and he's probably using again and have had bosses tell me that my ex came to talk to them by and cost me jobs.
