I do not think this is Rampal either. For a start, although lovely, this tone is a little brash to be Rampal. Also, this playing is not flawless. There are mistakes and I have yet to hear a recording of the great master that was not perfect throughout, particularly in his younger days. Beautiful all the same of course.

Yes, if you have very obsessive students with the perfection you can give them this record and they can see that the big masters also makes mistakes
There's no story telling whatsoever. It's not artistry, imo - just chops. CPE is supposed to be full of expressive elegance and playful surprises. Baroque flute or at least an historically informed style on modern flute is a must for this chestnut of the pre-classical era. We must learn from and imitate the traverso players such as Rachel Brown. (Her CPE concertos will blow your mind.) It's becoming expected that modern flute players have an historical flute or a consort of recorders in their toolbox.
