      Gronk for sure. Judging by only his Patriots days before his first retirement- he is the 2nd best pass catcher I have ever seen other than Jerry Rice. He had it all. From A to Z. You name it - he had it. Urlacher was amazing too but not that level. Gronk is a top 30 player in history type of level player. Urlacher top 200ish. Urlacher did not make the NFL all time top 100 for a reason. Both deserved 1st Ballot HOFers though.

      The bears at that time played lots of cover 2 zone. Allowed their fast Lbs to drop and both safties deep. I think Lovie came over from Tampa Bay implemented the same d scheme

    • @thewillformerlyknownasartist
      @thewillformerlyknownasartist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I watched this game (Bears fan) and this was the Lovie Smith era, so the bears played straight Tampa 2 and relied on athleticism and player skill to force other QBs to beat them. Worked very well when they had the right pieces, but unfortunately never had an offense to compliment their defense. Tampa 2 has its flaws, though, when the other QB is good at reading zone coverages and the pass rush can’t get home. This is why Favre, Rodgers, Brady, Brees, or any other top 5 QB would light the Bears up.

    Urlacher was 10 years into his career at this point and was just back in 2010 (the year of this video) after missing the entire 2009 season for a wrist dislocation sustained in the opener. His knees were shot at this point (you can see an example at the end of this clip of the now illegal cut blocks that teams used to do all the time on him because they couldn’t block him otherwise). But in Brian's case, he's very unique, he's more uniquier than other unique guys because he's very unique that makes him positively more uniquer than most unique guys.
    Man I wish people would stop abusing the word "unique". Unique is a singular superlative, you can't be "more unique" or "very unique" because "unique" means ONE. Just one. If you want to use a word that means "there are few like X", use RARE.

    This was an old injury prone Urlacher. I think Urlacher might have retired after this season. If this was Prime Urlacher against Gronk things would have been a lot different.

      Incorrect. 2010 was a career renaissance year for Urlacher where he made his first Pro Bowl & All Pro team since 2006, and helped the bears finish with a record of 11-5. He was injured the previous season, missing basically the entire season, but he was healthy in 2010 (and 2011 for that matter, where he made another Pro Bowl).

    Um. Urlacher played Gronk well. Gave up a catch, nearly picked a pass, nearly got to Brady on the blitz, and was chopped. Most plays Urlacher was in zone, blitz, or not assigned to Gronk. This is weak.

    Of all the Chicago Bear HOF'ers! Urlacher is probably the least deserving! Couldn't shed blockers, played too straight up, over ran plays during pursuits! A roided up Strong Safety! That had Monday Night Highlights! But he wasn't A Great Chicago (George, Butkus, Singletary) MLB! Briggs carried most of the Water!
