Sometimes these huge heavy buildings would start to lean or sink or sag before they were even finished being built. They didn't have the tech we have today to drain land or survey land and see how much weight it'd withstand - so during or shortly after building, buttresses of all sorts of types/angles/shapes might be added to prevent a catastrophic fally-downy event.
The columns are there to support the walls, so they won't tumble outwards from the weight of the roof. That was the only way they could build cathedrals (and churches) so tall in medieval times 🙂 Love from Denmark
Not going to lie the plumb festival is great, we went a fair few years ago and camped over and had a great time. We did eat so many plumbs, and came back with a lot of plumb jam, wine and other nice things.
Always nice to get away with you on the water... I had a good laugh when the dogs were talking to each other... keep up the good work! Hope Rufus is healed up nicely by now...!!!! 🥰
Eckington Bridge was built (well, that one was) around 1720 from Old Red Sandstone and .. rather shows why ORS isn't the greatest building material if you want to build something that won't erode massively.. That's all I know. :)
Hello again ☺. Invest in a maul to go with your new axe and mallet. A big help when splitting logs, which I'm sure you will be doing before long. Boring! Never! Just long and ready for a new adventure. Sending love & light 🍁🍂🍁🍂xx
I only found you guys a few weeks ago and I’ve binge watched so many of your great videos! We moor at Swanley and must have been there when you first got GG! Totally agree with you about the Avon, when it’s not in flood it’s slightly boring, beautiful but boring, it’s a good starter river if you’re a boater who is wanting to try a river for the first time! I first navigated the Avon with my dad when I was 11, so 30 years ago, it’s not changed much which is nice! We moored at Tewksbury marina for a few years, I remember cruising & counting the boats stranded in fields after the floods as it is flat fields as far as the eye can see! The Severn was scary in my dads old narrowboat, going upstream we barely moved against the current some days 😂
Is Pershore famous for plums? "It was perfected in 1877 and there are two Pershore plums today: July Purple and the late August Yellow. They have really put the lovely town of Pershore on the fruit growing map.” The Pershore plum became so famous that it even had a Great Western Railway steam locomotive named after it.
Thank you so much; every week, I look forward to no less than two great vlogs from you two. Do you realise what great creative quality you are presenting (this time the area approaching Tewkesbury is simply gorgeous). I reckon you and Holly the Cafe Boat are a couple of the finest things I've seen!! Cheers!
Rufus barking to other dogs "Help me there got me in this cone and will not let me run" other dog "sorry mate i fill for you but can not get to you to help" rufus " ok mate tks anyway" 😂😂😂
It was really interesting to see Pershore. Until now it was just the name of the town my cousin lives in . I send a Christmas card every year but I've never been there. Thanks as always for sharing . Aw wee Rufus , hope you're ok xxx
Hi Amy and Wes. Pershore looked like a nice town. Sounds like you had enough of the Avon. Hopefully Tewkesbury is a nice place to stay. Take care. Nick
I agree Wes ant eat a good market ,trip up twice and you have done Pershore 🤣cute though isn’t it ?.The plums are grown in the vale of Evesham area which includes Pershore guys . How exciting the seven is my river Worcester is gorgeous
The dribbling and spraying hose in the well deck, we found folding the hose and pinching it stops it temporarily. Worth a try.... Worth a try. Keep up the entertaining content

Love watching your videos but, on some of them I'm finding it hard to hear what Wes is s saying sometimes. Maybe if you both had a mike it would be better, anyway still love watching keep up the good work
Hello Wes and Amy, greeting from southern Spain, I love meeting up with you every week! In the last two videos the sound is not very good, unless you are facing the camera, maybe you need to wear individual mikes?Apart from that I just wish they were longer! You guys are great😊
Seems to have been a lovely river to me….. interesting towns to visit, beautiful countryside, the weather seems to have been good and the navigation seems to have been straightforward. I don’t understand why you’re so negative about it
Alright u 2, us landlubbers would take ur boring any day. Really now, I'm ready for u to fix up dupes area for me! Miss Dupes! Not to be unsympathetic bc I just lost my baby as well! Cheerio! Tina usa
Can't believe that you guys are moaning about being bored on that lovely river. Wake up and smell the coffee. A few months ago you were only too pleased to give up your job to cruise full time!!
We still love cruising full time, but we think it’s important to be honest about how we feel about each navigation. Some are less exciting than others, that’s just how it is, but it doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate the lifestyle any less.
is that structure on the outside of that church called "a flying butress"? ...for structural stability?
Love this video
Every viewer collectively .. “ awe.. it’s closed”. We all love an outdoor market
That new axe is ligit!
"i'm aving some crisps" 🤣

Thanks Michael! Couldn’t do it without the wonderful support of people like you 🥰💕
They are.👍🏽

Golden Axe! Can't believe you didn't get your own reference, maybe you're just not old enough? T'was a classic coin-op video game 😂
Ah yeah neither of us got that one I’m afraid! 😉
Really nice filming and editing. I thought the same thing when I saw that bridge about it being the one the Crobots crashed into. Nice job!
😊🤗 Kathy

💜💙💚
“It’s weird that you can just buy an axe” 😂😂😂 so true
Well done 😊
🎉 Next time you go shopping, take the other end of the hose pipe connector with you, so you get a right fitting. Simples
Best part is the empty countryside ❤

Toyah Wilcox lives next to the angel pub
Toyah lives (or used to) live in Pershore!
Wasn't listening properly, I thought that you'd named the axe Gordon!
I think SuperHans in Peep Show would say, "It's a hand Axe, not a felling axe"....
Yessss I (Wes) loved peep show 😂😂
You are nearing my home town of Portishead, we have a marina
Ooo lovely!! 🥰
You went past my boat 😊
Oh nice! 🥳
I name this axe Stormbreaker
Brilliant 😂😂😂
Love watching your videos but, on some of them I'm finding it hard to hear what Wes is s saying sometimes. Maybe if you both had a mike it would be better, anyway still love watching keep up the good work
Hello Wes and Amy, greeting from southern Spain, I love meeting up with you every week!

Thanks for watching! Sometimes the mic gets a bit wet and that can make it trickier to work with in the edit. Thanks! 😊
Seems to have been a lovely river to me….. interesting towns to visit, beautiful countryside, the weather seems to have been good and the navigation seems to have been straightforward. I don’t understand why you’re so negative about it

I had hoped to see cruising the Avon but 5 minutes in and we're still doing retail therapy...bye.

Imagine telling people how they should feel 😳🤣.. Take no notice Amy and Wes.. being honest is always best, even if certain people dont like it!
I understand, my life isn't great and to watch a loving couple take something we only dream of as day to day chores.....I want that normality too
Well you're prepared incase a "28 days latter" happens 🤣🤣🪓⚓
😂😂 so true, let’s gooo
