You can reduce the beans' side effects by boiling them on their own for 45min, skimming the foam they produce during that time. Also, have boiling water ready somewhere else because ather 45min are past, you strain the beans in a collander but need to quickly put them back in hot water or they'll harden from the change of temperature.
