@@samuellee8333 Sorry, I thought I remembered to respond. Although the encampment attracted a lot of outside protestors that were much more of a security risk than the student protestors, the protests were not really disruptive before Hamilton Hall was occupied, since the main inconveniences were maneuvering around the crowds outside and having to swipe an ID to enter campus, as non-affiliates were not allowed to enter. It was easy for most people to go about their daily lives and ignore the protests, but when Hamilton Hall was occupied, campus was shut down to everyone except for the students living there, which was quite inconvenient - in fact, we only got access back yesterday or the day before. @@samuellee8333 Before the occupation of Hamilton, most people could go about their daily lives without paying attention to the encampment (although there were some disruptions like the media outside the gates and non-affiliates having trouble entering). But when campus had to be closed down for the clearing of Hamilton, the disruption became a lot worse because most people weren't even allowed to set foot on campus - in fact, access was only restored today. Fortunately this only happened after classes ended, so only our finals were impacted, but losing access to our regular study spaces and places to just spend time was quite annoying.
Nope. They’re out there calling each other comrades.
The American government has sent billions to Ukraine to stop the Russian invasion. We are protesting our backing of Israel and its war crimes in the Gaza strip. If we weren't backing Israel there wouldn't be any protests in the same way that the US government is not backing Russian aggression therefore we don't protest that.
First of all, we had color film in the 80s. I know that’s hard to believe we’ve had digital photography in the 80s. Second of all, South Africa had one major export diamonds where is Israel makes everything that makes modern life happen. Third of all Students are net beneficiaries of the endowment they benefit from it. so it’s not really their money that they are trying to have a say about. Also, the protesters represent roughly 3% of the student body and whether that 3% may or may not feel very passionately and they may or may not really understand what’s happening there they are only 3% and 97% of students are not OK with what is happening on campus. in many cases, student demonstrate tours are far outnumbered by just outside agitators and so their thoughts on this really don’t matter at all. but if you want to live in a world free of Israeli innovation, you’re gonna have to go back further than the 80s. You’re probably probably gonna go back to the 60s or 70s and at that point yeah black-and-white film.
Hello! This is misinformation.
I've been on the ground at the University of Texas protests. UT is my alma mater, and I showed up to help a group of grad students I'm friends with. Support for the pro-Palestinian side from their fellow students is broad, which I have seen firsthand as students passed by the protests on their way to classes. To claim that 97% of students oppose the protests is ridiculous; it's a number you simply made up, and it's nowhere close to reality.
Divestment from Israel doesn't mean going back to the 1960s in terms of technology. But honestly, if it meant that no more children were blown up by US and Israeli bombs, yeah, I think I could live with black and white photography.

The international campaign to boycott apartheid South Africa was instrumental in freeing Nelson Mandela and ending apartheid. But what fewer people talk about is that apartheid was ended by a referendum on whether to "adopt a new constitution" (end apartheid), and that this election was held under apartheid. Israel does not have a constitution... yet. If you want a Palestinian state, I'm telling you that we're going to have one. No country can be expected to allow their own citizens to be abducted. And to quote Nelson Mandela, terrorist turned pacificist:
"We hope that... we are strengthening the voice of peace and friendship in Israel and Palestine; so that, as we enter the new millennium, we shall all have taken a giant stride towards a world in which our humanity will be the hallmark of our relations across colour, religious and other divides."
