IMO she had no real character flaws in series 7. She immediately improved in series 8 though.
I personally don't like her because at one point she became too bossy and controlling. She was good for a while though.
She was the preperation for the female doctor... i like her as an actress but do not like the politics and writing of her character.
She was great... until she got saddled with one of the worst love interest "Rupert" Danny Pink.
This is why I love Clara so much. No other companion comes close. Jenna should’ve had her own show.

They've let us down with the companions story with each companion. For the sake of getting more of the Doctor"s personal story with Jody's seasons. That's my opinion.

You can call them Clara's quotes, she had the best lines. Nothing can top or be more immortal than "Run you clever boy, and remember". The one where she threatens to slap the Doctor so hard that he will regenerate is a close second. 😁

I know a lot of people don't like Clara, but a LOT of her humor makes me think 'That sounds like something David Tenant would say' and I think that's one of the reasons I like her so much! There's a clear different feeling between writers, and Clara gave me a nostalgic feeling of RTD humor. Examples: The dead and decapitated turkey scene, I'm the one chance you've got of staying alive scene, and the Jane Austen scene just to name a few.

Why do people hate Clara? I think it has nothing to do with her and it's all about timing. Amy left and Clara took her place. It's the same reason why people dislike Eleven or Twelve. My first Doctor was Eleven and when he left it took me the entirety of Twelve's run toactually like him a little bit. He is now, off course, one of my favorite Doctors, but people had the same problem I had with him as they have with both Clara and Donna. Cuz, poor Donna gets hate also.
I think Clara is great but her story is a bit too chaotic. I don’t really like Amy’s story either but that’s just Doctor Who, chaotic.
I don't dislike Clara but not exactly a fan of her. She felt like a carbon copy of 11 just female, energetic and adventurous. I know, a lot of companions are similar in that aspect too but Clara just felt kind of bland outside of those 2 traits. Her dynamic with 12 did help improve her character and her time as a companion but that can only go so far with a story that, I felt, wasn't exactly the greatest. Post Amy doctor who until Clara leaves just feels weird and not really a good story to me. Doctor who used to be a big part of my life but after Tenant leaving, it died down a bit. Then Smith and Gillian leaving really sucked. I tried some of Capaldis era but couldn't get into it and dropped it completely.

Her relationship with the Doctor in series 8 was super toxic and I don't enjoy that. She tried to destroy the TARDIS keys.

It never made sense to me that Clara, the one companion who saw all the Doctor’s incarnations, would be upset over him changing. Shouldn’t she understand better than anyone that he’s the same but different?
I think it can make sense still. She saw all the Doctor's incarnations, but only for a few moments. Her adventures were with 11. She wasn't ready to let 11 definitely go. Knowing that the Doctor can change doesn't mean you are automatically ready for that moment when it happens. Clara at that moment is the closest to what we can feel when the Doctor changes.
We know it happens but letting him go is still hard.

Clara is a great companion. The issue is her arc was reduced to half a season and she stayed for 2 more. There was very little room for her character to move once her intended purpose was closed. Imo she is one of the better written companions, but there was no real room for her to grow after Series 7. Her Series 8 arc was basically pointless, and Series 9 was the inevitable “she becomes the doctor” that all the companions maybe minus Amy & Rory fell victim to eventually.
@1:28 Clara says “You won’t survive turning your back” this is actually true. Missy turns her back to the Master and he kills her.

@@Great_Olaf5 Nah, the Doctor got their memories of Clara back right before regenerating, so it can still work. I doubt it will ever happen, but it is possible lol :)
@@micron000 Wait really? Which regeneration? 8 haven't been able to keep up since Doctor Who got dropped from Amazon Prime. The last season I watched was the one with Bill.
@Great_Olaf5 Yeah! When 12 regenerated, there was a thing called testimony - Sort of memories held in glass, hard to explain. But basically it allowed Bill to follow him through the episode, even tho she wasn't really there.. And then right near the end, testimony turned into Clara, and the Doctor literally said that all his memories of her were back. Of course, it was never mentioned again after that.. But if you're a fan of 12/Clara, it's still a really sweet scene imo

i love her actress but damn the writer really kinda ruined doctor who. the actress deserved a better character than Clara. she is my least favorite.

Amy's over arching story was a pretty good idea and some, not all, parts turned out really well and Amy did really well alongside 11 and Rory. Her beginning ventures were kinda rough wanting to essentially get piped down 6 ways from sunday by an alien who she believed was real and no one else did was weird but once the show made it past that, it was pretty good. Now, as much as I enjoyed Amy's tenure, her departure episode definitely wasn't good. But her return for 11's reincarnation, while kinda random, was very touching.
@@Peace7904 i really like amy. But i really hated what the writers had her do. Really loved lil amelia too. If they had amy just want a pletonic relationship with the doctor, i would have loved her so much more. When the Doctor! Runs to Rory because what she is doing is unacceptable. Ie, kissing the doctor when she is about to get married, we got writing problems. I love the actress, the concept, and the acting. But the writing made me dislike her for most of 5.
@@Peace7904 @willanrac yeah I agree some parts of her story were ehhhh, but I liked most of it. she and rory were some of the better ones. Moffat just....I just hate Moffat. I really really do. He just can't seem to write doctor who well and still got the job.
Clara was perfect for 11, she didn't work so well with 12

Clara season 7 was like a child, Clara season 8 was an angsty teenager and season 9 Clara was a full blown adult
